Together they are dazzling and demonstrate the endless potential of cinema in the hands of a great filmmaker. With a selection like this we have made the jury’s job very difficult indeed,” said LFF Director Tricia Tuttle.

Bad Bunny Earns 15th No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart with “Yonaguni”

It’s a special quinceañera for Bad Bunny

The 27-year-old Puerto Rican Latin trap and reggaeton rapper, singer and songwriter has notched his 15th No. 1 on Billboard‘s Latin Airplay chart as “Yonaguni” takes over the top spot on the September 4-dated survey.

Bad Bunny

The rise to the summit follows the song’s dominance on the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart (which merges airplay, sales and streaming data) for five weeks in June and July.

It also became Bad Bunny’s fourth top 10, reaching No. 10, on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The Spanish-language “Yonaguni,” which features some Japanese lyrics (as the song is named after the western-most island of Japan), lifts 4-1 on Latin Airplay with by a 19% increase to 11.6 million audience impressions in the week ending August 29, according to MRC Data.

“Yonaguni” marks Bad Bunny’s fourth Latin Airplay leader without another artist among his compendium of 15 No. 1s. It follows three in 2020: “Vete” (one week at No. 1, March 14), “La Dificil” (one, August) and “Yo Perreo Sola” (two, June).

Bad Bunny first led Latin Airplay for a week in February 2018 as a featured artist on Becky G‘s “Mayores,” also his first chart entry. He logged his longest stay at the summit to-date with “Mia,” featuring Drake, for six weeks starting in December 2018.

Over on Hot Latin Songs, “Yonaguni” remains at No. 4, led by 7.6 million U.S. streams in the week ending August 26.

Showtime Renews The Kid Mero’s Late Night Talk Show “Desus & Mero” for Fourth Season

There are more late nights in The Kid Mero’s future…

Showtime has ordered a fourth season of the 38-year-old Dominican American comedian and television personality’s (real name Joel Martinez) late night show with his co-host Desus Nice, Desus & Mero, which is set to be released in 2022.

The Kid Mero

The series, which debuted in 2016 on Viceland before moving to Showtime three years later, is the network’s first-ever late-night talk show. In each episode, the longtime friends discuss the day’s hot topics and interview some of the biggest names from the world of pop culture, sports, music, and politics.

Season 3 currently airs weekly on Sunday and Thursday nights at 11:00 pm ET/PT from New York City through December 12. This season’s guests include Stacey Abrams, Zendaya, John David Washington, Ludacris, Delroy Lindo, Glenn Close, J Balvin, Andra Day, Issa Rae, Lil Nas X, Barry Jenkins, and Zazie Beetz, among others.

Desus and Mero returned to their newly revamped studio in June after the pandemic forced them to shoot their show remotely since March 2020. The pair bought their own facility just before the pandemic — the old Al Jazeera studio, complete with bulletproof glass — having previously shot at the CBS Studio in New York.

Desus & Mero is produced for Showtime by JAX Media. It’s executive produced by Desus Nice, The Kid Mero, Lilly Burns, Tony Hernandez, Victor Lopez, Suzanne Fagel, and Mike Pielocik.

Farruko is celebrating a dancetastic first…

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican singer and songwriter has completed a flight to his first No. 1 on Billboard‘s multi-metric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated August 21) with “Pepas.”

Farruko

The song hits the top with 9.7 million U.S. streams, up 33%; 7.2 million radio airplay audience impressions, up 11%; and 2,500 downloads sold, up 25%, in the tracking week ending August 12, according to MRC Data.

“Pepas” leads the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart for a third frame and Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales for the first time, also marking Farruko’s first leader on both lists.

The track by Farruko improves 6-3 on the Hot Latin Songs list. Helping spark its gains, its official video premiered August 6.

“Pepas” is the fourth song to hit No. 1 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs this year, following Surf Mesa‘s “ily,” featuring Emilee (Jan. 2-Feb. 6; six weeks); Travis Scott and HVME‘s “Goosebumps” (Feb. 13-June 19, 19 weeks); and Regard, Troye Sivan and Tate McRae‘s “You” (June 26-August 14, eight weeks).

Previously, Farruko charted on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with “On My Way,” with Alan Walker and Sabrina Carpenter (No. 8, 2019), and “Aire,” with Steve Aoki (No. 36, this July).

Aventura’s “Volví,” Featuring Bad Bunny, Reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart

Aventura has officially returned to the top of the charts…

The Dominican-American bachata group leads Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart as its new single “Volví,” with Bad Bunny, rises 2-1 in its second week (August 21-dated survey). It’s Aventura’s third No. 1, and first since 2010’s “Dile Al Amor.”

Bad Bunny x Aventura

The bachata-rhythmic tune takes the lead of the airplay-, streaming-, and digital-blended list boosted by gains in both streams and airplay. “Volví” generated 14.6 million U.S. streams (up 25%) in the week ending August 12, according to MRC Data, enough to enter the all-genre Streaming Songs chart’s top 10 (a 16-10 leap that takes the Greatest Gainer honors). Concurrently, the song holds at No. 1 on Latin Streaming Songs for a second week.

“Volví,” a midnight release on August 3, was teased by both Bad Bunny and Aventura’s Romeo Santos on their Instagram accounts just hours before. The pair has since performed the song live for the first time on Saturday night (August 14) at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami; the group’s first sold out date of its Inmortal stadium tour.

“Volví” grants Aventura its first No. 1 on the all-metric tally since the nine-week leader “Dile Al Amor” in 2010. Previously, the Dominicans led with “Por Un Segundo” (two weeks atop in 2009). Bad Bunny, meanwhile, captures his ninth No. 1, a lead following his first 2021 win: “Yonaguni,” which remained atop Hot Latin Songs for five weeks starting the June 19-dated tally.

“Volví” also reigns thanks to a lift on radio airplay: it pushes 50-31 on Latin Airplay with 3.5 million audience impressions (up 33%).
