Michael Rivera To Appear in Recurring Role on NBC’s “Law & Order: Organized Crime”

The Latino actor has landed a recurring role opposite Christopher Meloni, Dylan McDermott, Tamara Taylor and Danielle Moné Truitt in NBC’s SVU spinoff series, Law & Order: Organized Crime.

Rivera joins a roster of recurring additions that includes Nicky Torchia and Ibrahim Renno.

In Law & Order: Organized Crime, Elliot Stabler (Meloni) returns to the NYPD to battle organized crime after a devastating personal loss. Stabler will aim to rebuild his life as part of a new elite task force that is taking apart the city’s most powerful criminal syndicates one by one. Meloni also is reprising his role as Stabler on SVU this season. No information about the other Organized Crime characters is being released.

Torchia will play Eli Stabler, the son of Meloni’s Elliot Stabler. Rivera will portray Detective Diego Morales, and. Renno will play Izak Bekher.

Law & Order: Organized Crime was created by Dick Wolf, who will executive produce. Fred Berner directed the first episode.

The series is produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

The drama will premiere at 10:00 pm on April 1 as part of a crossover with Law & Order: SVU that starts at 9:00 pm.

Rivera booked his first role on Law & Order in 2001 at the age of 12. Since then he has joined the Law & Order cast numerous times, as well as spinoffs Conviction, SVU and Criminal Intent. He also appeared in a fractional role with Meloni on HBO’s Oz.

HBO Max Gives 10-Episode Order to Isabella Gomez’s “Head of the Class” Reboot

Isabella Gomez is officially heading back to the classroom…

HBO Max has handed the reboot of Head of the Class, starring the 23-year-old Colombian-American actress and One Day at a Time star, a 10-episode order.

The series hails from Bill Lawrence, fresh off the back of two Golden Globes nominations for Ted Lasso, and American Vandal writers Amy Pocha and Seth Cohen.

This comes after the project was handed a pilot order and five additional scripts in May 2020.

Based on the 1980s ABC comedy created by Rich Eustis & Michael Elias, the half-hour multi-camera series stars Gomez as teacher Alicia Adams, who wants her group of overachieving high school students to focus less on grades and more on experiencing life.

Jorge Diaz, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Gavin Lewis, Dior Goodjohn, Brandon SeversAdrian Matthew Escalona and Katie Beth Hall also star with Christa Miller guest starring.

The series is produced by Doozer Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Production is set to begin later this summer in L.A.

Mareya Salazar to Appear on The CW’s “Charmed” Reboot

Mareya Salazar is living a charmed life…

The Venezuelan-Canadian trans actress has joined the cast of The CW’s series Charmed in a recurring role for the reboot of the spellbinding series.

The casting marks the second transgender actor to join this season.

In November, Deadline exclusively broke the news that JJ Hawkins joined the cast in the recurring role of Kevin, a transgender male college student who inspires one of the Charmed Ones to take on a very formidable opponent.

With Salazar and Hawkins, Charmed continues to move the needle when it comes to bolstering authentic representation of the trans community.

Salazar is set to play Joséfina, the Charmed Ones’ second cousin. She is described as a strong, opinionated young woman who shows up on their doorstep with surprises and secrets. She also has a mission of her own.

Salazar was active in theater throughout high school and college before she was discovered at Atlantic Canada’s Top Model and Actor event. She was recently seen in the Dutch romantic comedy, Verliefd Op Cuba.

Her role as Joséfina marks a new chapter for the actress as it is her first foray into television.

Camila Perez to Star Opposite Eugenio Derbez in Apple TV+’s Bilingual Comedy Series “Acapulco”

The Colombian actress will star opposite Eugenio Derbez in Acapulco, Apple TV+’s bilingual comedy series inspired by 3Pas Studios and Pantelion Films’ 2017 Derbez starrer How to Be a Latin Lover.

Perez joins a list of cast newcomers that includes Enrique Arrizon, Damian Alcázar and Raphael Alejandro.

Richard Shepard will direct the pilot episode for Lionsgate Television.

Created by Austin Winsberg, Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman, Acapulco is a half-hour Spanish- and English-language comedy that centers on Maximo (Arrizon), a young Mexican man whose dream comes true when he gets the job of a lifetime at the hottest resort in Acapulco. But soon he realizes that the gig is far more complicated than he ever imagined as all of his beliefs and morals start to be questioned.

The series takes place in 1984, with Derbez narrating and playing the present-day version of the main character.

Also reprising his role from the movie is Alejandro, who plays Hugo, Older Maximo’s nephew.

Alcázar joins the cast as Don Pablo, the head of operations at the Acapulco resort. Perez will play Julia, the resort’s front desk receptionist.

Perez’s credits include Gotham and A Teacher.

Arrizon’s credits also include An Unknown Enemy.

Alcázar has been seen in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and The Perfect Dictatorship.

Mariel Molino to Star in ABC’s Drama Pilot “Promised Land”

The Mexican American actress has been cast as a lead alongside Christina Ochoa in ABC’s drama pilot Promised Land.

Written by Matt Lopez, the project is an epic, generation-spanning drama about two Latinx families vying for wealth and power in California’s Sonoma Valley.

Molino will play Camila Sandoval, the youngest daughter of the Sandoval family, a wealthy vineyard-owning family in the Sonoma Valley. Her flirtatious, party-girl attitude masks a deeply flawed young woman who craves the achievements of her other siblings but has no idea how to attain them. No one expects anything from Camila. That makes her dangerous.

Ochoa plays her sister, Veronica Sandoval, the eldest daughter of the Sandovals.

Lopez executive produces with Adam Kolbrenner of Lit Entertainment Group. ABC Signature is the studio.

This marks the first major English-language role for Molino, who was born to Mexican parents in San Diego. She starred in Amazon’s Spanish-language original movie Locas por el Cambio, which was released on Amazon Prime in November. Her television credits include recurring roles in NBC Universo’s El Vato and Amazon’s Juego de las Llaves

Bruno Mars Announces Plans to Launch Limited-Edition CD Single Release of Silk Sonic’s “Leave the Door Open (Live)”

The 35-year-old part-Puerto Rican Grammy-winning singer and Anderson .Paak‘s Silk Sonic will release a limited-edition “Leave the Door Open (Live)” CD single on Friday.

The collectible item comes in a jewel-case CD featuring a photo from their 2021 Grammy Awards performance of their single.

It also features the minute-long intro track by funk legend and “special guest host” Bootsy Collins, which will be featured on Silk Sonic’s upcoming album An Evening with Silk Sonic.

“Due to popular demand (and by demand I mean andy’s close relatives and 2 people I employ) we proudly present, #LeaveTheDoorOpen LIVE!,” Mars wrote via Instagram on Tuesday (March 30), adding on Twitter, “Swear this is even more collectible.”

Silk Sonic’s debut single is currently sitting at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week (dated April 3) after peaking at No. 2. It reached No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot R&B Songs chart earlier this month.

 

The “Leave the Door Open (Live)” CD single, which can be pre-ordered here, will begin shipping Friday and is only available to order through April 5.

Christina Ochoa to Star in Matt Lopez’s Latinx Family Drama Pilot “Promised Land”

There’s plenty of promise in Christina Ochoa’s future…

The 36-year-old Spanish actress and Animal Kingdom star is set as a lead in ABC’s Promised LandMatt Lopez’s Latinx family drama pilot.

Formerly titled American Heritage, the project is an epic, generation-spanning drama about two Latinx families vying for wealth and power in California’s Sonoma Valley.

Ochoa will play Veronica Sandoval, the eldest daughter of the Sandovals, a wealthy vineyard-owning family in the Sonoma Valley. Veronica is the highly capable heir to the Heritage Wines empire and her father Joe’s trusted Number Two. But her drive and ambition have left her with some glaring personal blindspots, and Veronica’s seemingly perfect life soon starts to unravel.

Lopez writes and executive produces. Adam Kolbrenner of Lit Entertainment Group also exec produces. ABC Signature is the studio.

Up next for Ochoa is Boon, the western sequel film from Yellowstones Neal McDonough. She stars as Renn Randall in TNT’s Animal Kingdom, which was recently renewed for a sixth and final season, and as Ashley Morales in ABC’s A Million Little Things. She has also appeared in Valor, Blood Drive, Matador and I Hate My Teenage Daughter.

The Latina actress, who hails from Canada, will star as a lead opposite Janel Parrish and Marco Grazzini in Right In Front of Me, Hallmark Channel’s upcoming rom-com.

Written by Julie Sherman Wolfe and directed by Linda-Lisa Hayter, Right In Front of Me revolves around Carly (Parrish), the owner of a bridal styling business, gets a second chance at romance with her college crush but isn’t sure how to impress him until her new friend Nick starts giving her advice. Soon she learns who the right man for her really is.

The movie, part of Hallmark Channel’s “Spring Fling” programming event this spring, premieres Saturday, April 17.

De La Cruz plays Carly’s assistant and friend Jennifer, an efficient woman with a keen sense of humor who is well aware of Carly’s previous romantic disasters.

De La Cruz most recently co-starred in Lonestar Christmas for Lifetime. She also appeared in Supernatural, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, Get Shorty and opposite Freddie Highmore in Bates Motel.

Cinthya Carmona to Star in New Netflix Comedy Series

Cinthya Carmona is ready to spread a little peace on earth…

The 30-year-old Venezuelan actress has been added to the lead cast in Netflix’s still-untitled multi-camera comedy series from Jack Dolgen, Doug Mand and Kourtney Kang.

Carmona will star opposite Olivia Macklin and Michael Hsu Rosen. They will star opposite Emily Osment and Gregg Sulkin in the project, which was created and written by Dolgen and Mand and directed by Pamela Fryman.

The Untitled Dolgen/Mand/Kang Project centers on a snooty, self-proclaimed intellectual (Osment) forced to move in with her carefree sister and her sister’s lovably eccentric friends, played by Sulkin, Hsu, Rosen and Carmona.

Macklin will play Claire, scatterbrained optimist and the world’s worst waitress (although the customers love her). She lives a carefree life, surrounded by her best friends. Claire is excited at the prospect of finally bonding with her older sister, Chelsea. Like, really really really really excited!

Rosen will portray Jayden, a former child-model who now makes his living as a social media influencer. He’s confident, generous and the hottest gay man alive according to an online poll which he created and votes on daily.

Carmona plays Solana, a former lawyer turned unqualified health guru. She brings her lawyerly intensity to everything, especially crystals and meditation. She wants nothing more than to bring peace and healing to everyone she meets. That said, she hasn’t slept a wink in years.

Osment will play Chelsea, and Sulkin plays Grant, the romantic, genuinely sweet, and an often shirtless personal trainer.

Carmona recently starred as the female lead in David Ayer’s The Tax Collector. Her other credits include Fox’s Deputy, Hulu’s East Los High and Netflix’s Greenhouse Academy.
