Maluma Releases New Single with Adam Levine & The Rudeboyz

The 28-year-old Colombian singer, songwriter and actor has joined voices with Adam Levine and The Rudeboyz to release the highly anticipated single “Ojalá.”

The new song — produced by Maluma’s longtime collaborators The Rudeboyz — finds the Colombian star and Levine trading verses about losing a girl and getting over the heartbreak. They both declare: It won’t be easy getting over them.

“Ojalá” is the debut single from The Rudeboyz’s upcoming debut album.

The track arrived alongside a music video directed by Diane Martel via NEON16 & Sony Music Latin.

The three-minute clip starts off with Chan El Genio and Kevin ADG (The Rudeboyz) listening to an “incredible” beat they just produced and say, “What if we can get Maluma and Adam Levine on this song, we’d kill it. Can you imagine? That would be a dream.”

The artists first announced the collaboration on October 14 via social media. Levine teased a 20-second clip of the upbeat track on his TikTok page, captioning the post, “#Ojala @RUDEBOYZ @Juan Luis.”

Maluma shared the snippet to his Instagram Stories and as a post, writing on one story, “What do you think about this?” Meanwhile, The Rudeboyz wrote, “A very important release for us with people we admire a lot!!  Keep your eyes on this !! @maluma @adamlevine.”

Back in June, Levine had already hinted at a possible collaboration with Maluma. He posted a photo of them on Instagram of the two hanging out in a studio and wrote, “World ain’t ready.”

The Rudeboyz, who were recently signed by Tainy‘s NEON16, have produced hits for artists such as Shakira, Sech, Jennifer Lopez, Prince Royce and Sebastián Yatra, among others.

The 53-year-old Puerto Rican superstar’s club anthem “On the Floor” with Pitbull has surpassed two billion views on YouTube.

The track scored the pair another entry on the Billboard Hot 100 as it peaked at No. 3 on the tally dated May 21, 2011.

“On the Floor” is one of the handful of collaborations between la Lopez and Pitbull.

The pair have struck gold with other songs like “Dance Again,” “Back It Up” with Prince Royce, and the official 2014 World Cup song “We Are One (Ole Ola)” with Brazilian star Claudia Leitte.

Produced by RedOne, the song thrives on a hypnotic beat, with Pitbull dropping by for a rapid-fire verse that rhymes “badonkadonk” with “Donkey Kong.”

Lopez’s sweet yet commanding vocals take centerstage during the chorus where she sings “La la la la la la la la la la la la la la. Tonight we gon’ be it on the floor.”

The track samples French-Brazilian pop group Kaoma’s 1988 song “Lambada,” a global hit that went on to top Billboard’Hot Latin Songs chart in March of 1990.  As a result of the sample, the “Lambada” reappeared on the Billboard charts more than 20 years after its global domination. It made its debut on the World Digital Songs chart at No. 3 in March of that year, a few weeks after “On the Floor” came out.

Lana Parrilla to Star Opposite J.Lo in Netflix’s AI Drama “Atlas”

The 45-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress will star opposite Jennifer Lopez in Netflix’s AI drama Atlas, directed by Brad Peyton.

In Atlas, an intelligence analyst gets stranded on a distant planet and must learn to fight inside a military-grade mech suit in order to survive.

Parrilla played Regina Mills, aka The Evil Queen, for 156 episodes on ABC’s hit series Once Upon a TimeHer work on the show earned her the NHMC Impact Award; an ALMA Award for Outstanding TV Actress; a Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Actress: Fantasy / Sci-Fi; and, as voted by fans, TV Guide’s Best Villain twice.

She recently starred on Marc Cherry’s Paramount+ series Why Women Kill, a role for which she received a Gracie Award for Best Supporting Actress in Comedy. She also starred alongside Bobby Soto, Shia LaBeouf and George Lopez in David Ayer’s indie thriller The Tax Collector.

Prior to that, Parrilla was a series regular on ABC’s sitcom Spin CityGraham Yost’s Boomtown24, Swingtown, and on Jerry Bruckheimer’s medical drama Miami Medical

Desmin Borges to Star in the Military Thriller “Valiant One”

The 38-year-old half-Puerto Rican actor will star opposite Lana Condor, Callan Mulvey and Chase Stokes in Monarch Media’s thriller Valiant One, which goes into production in Vancouver this month.

With tensions between the North and South already on the verge of war, the surviving U.S. Army non-combat tech soldiers must work together to protect a civilian tech specialist and find their way across the DMZ, without the possibility of U.S. military support.

Condor will play Selby, a hard-as-nails and highly capable but very inexperienced Medic Specialist who joined the U.S. military after becoming a citizen to give back to her new homeland.

Borges is set for the role of Josh Weaver, a civilian defense contractor who’s cocky, with enough smarts to back it up, and obnoxious until the weight of the danger settles in on him and he becomes part of the team.

Mulvey will portray Chris Lebold the square-jawed Delta Operative and poster child for American heroic iconography, who’s in a heap of trouble and pain when the team crashes but remains a leader throughout.

Eric Tipton wrote the script, which is based on an original idea by Barnett.

Borges is best known for turns on such series as The Time Traveler’s WifeWelcome to FlatchUtopia and You’re the Worst, having received an Imagen Award nomination for his work on the latter.

He’s also appeared in films including Private LifeNever HereCarrie Pilby, Gabriel, All Is Bright and Compliance.

Also coming up for the actor is Lionsgate’s action rom-com Shotgun Wedding, in which he stars alongside Jennifer Lopez, Josh Duhamel, D’Arcy Carden, Jennifer Coolidge and others.

Elena Rose Signs Record Deal with Warner Music Latina

Elena Rose is ready to record more of her own music… 

Warner Music Latina has signed a record deal with the Venezuelan singer-songwriter.

“It feels like the beginning of something that was meant to be and I feel grateful that I am in a place where I feel understood, comfortable, but also excited to grow and learn even more and get out of that comfort zone to get to where we want to go so it can be truly timeless, which is a key word for me,” Rose said about the deal. “I think I’m surrounded by an amazing team that understands my vision and is willing to come with me on this crazy ride of being timeless.”

Following a move from Venezuela to Miami to pursue a career in music, Rose cites Becky G recording one of her songs, “Dollar,” as her “big break.” The track peaked at No. 27 on Hot Latin Songs (chart dated Nov. 1, 2019). Since, Rose has been on a spree writing back-to-back hits such as Maluma and J.Lo’s “Pa Ti,” Daddy Yankee and Marc Anthony’s “De Vuelta Pa’ La Vuelta” and she co-wrote five of the seven songs on Gomez’s first Spanish project, Revelación, released last year.

Jennifer Lopez to Perform at Charity Gala for Ukraine Children & Families

Jennifer Lopez is helping to raise funds for the children of the Ukraine…

The 53-year-old Puerto Rican superstar is set to perform on the Italian island of Capri at a Ukraine-focused charity gala for UNICEF.

Jennifer LopezExpected guests at the exclusive event, which is called LuisaViaRoma for UNICEF, include Leonardo DiCaprio; Jamie Foxx; Elon Musk’s mother, the supermodel Maye Musk; Naomi Campbell, Jared Leto, and Vanessa Hudgens.

The intimate Capri charity event will take place in the island’s Certosa di San Giacomo, a 14th-century monastery with a large grassy cloister area and a stunning view of the Mediterranean.

Lopez will be the main musical act at the exclusive gala, where the hit-making DJ Diplo and singer/actress Sofia Carson, as well as Switzerland’s DJ Cruz, are among other artists that are expected to take the stage, Italy’s La Repubblica reported.

Past editions of the charity concert have been complemented with performances by the likes of John Legend, Katy Perry and Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, as well as Rita Ora, Ricky Martin and Ellie Goulding, according to Variety sister publication Women’s Wear Daily, which broke the news in May that Lopez would headline the Capri gala.

After kicking off with musical entertainment, the event will be followed by a lavish dinner and charity auction.

The guest list also includes Dutch supermodel and actor Lara Stone; U.S. producer and director Tonya Lewis Lee; Saudi producer and philanthropist Mohammed Al Turki; and, from Italy, singer and songwriter Sangiovanni and actor Matilde Gioli, according to La Repubblica.

During the charity gala, UNICEF representatives based in Ukraine will join the soirée remotely. A documentary will also screen, detailing the work being done by UNICEF at the Zaatari and Azraq refugee camps in Jordan that welcome Syrian children and their families.

It’s Lopez’s first stage performance since marrying actor Ben Affleck earlier this month.

Jennifer Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions Developing Limited Series Based on Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella”

The 52-year-old Puerto Rican superstar’s Nuyorican Productions is teaming up with Skydance Television and Concord Originals to develop a limited series based on Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

Jennifer LopezThe project, an original take on the musical, will be written by Rachel Shukert, who will also executive produce and serve as showrunner.

This marks the first project under the previously announced deal between the companies to develop a slate of original projects based on Concord’s vast catalog of musicals.

Lopez, along with partners Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina, will executive produce for Nuyorican Productions.

David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bill Bost will executive produce for Skydance, alongside Sophia Dilley, Senior Vice President of Development and Production at Concord Originals, and Concord CEO Scott Pascucci.

“The story of Cinderella is as timeless now as ever,” said Bill Bost, President of Skydance Television. “This aspirational story of romance, unconventional families, and the surprising power of wishes has inspired audiences around the world for centuries, and we are thrilled to be working with Jennifer, Rachel, Concord, and The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization to bring our fresh take to the screen.”

One of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s most popular titles, Cinderella was originally written for television, debuting in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, who was nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance.

More than 100 million viewers saw the broadcast, more people than any other program in the history of television at the time.

Cinderella was re-made for TV in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren in the title role (photo above), Ginger Rogers and Walter Pidgeon as the King and Queen, and Celeste Holm as the Fairy Godmother. A further television remake followed in 1997 with Brandy as Cinderella, Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother, Bernadette Peters as the Stepmother, Whoopi Goldberg as the Queen, and Jason Alexander as Lionel.

Jennifer Lopez to Perform at Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation’s Blue Diamond Gala at Dodger Stadium

Jennifer Lopez isn’t dodging her philanthropic duties…

The 52-year-old Puerto Rican superstar will headline the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation’s Blue Diamond Gala at Dodger Stadium, where she’ll perform an exclusive concert.

Jennifer LopezReferred to as “The Party For LA,” the event is presented by the Los Angeles Dodgers Ownership Group, a collective that includes Mark WalterMagic Johnson and tennis great Billie Jean King.

Lopez will share the program with DJ D-Nice, who will spin a set during the pre-show dinner party.

In addition to the live performances, the event will play host to special guests like Dodgers players, alumni and coaches and other boldfaced name VIPs.

Proceeds from the Blue Diamond Gala benefit LADF and its community programs and initiatives aimed at improving education, health care, homelessness and social justice for Angelenos.

Since its inception, LADF has invested over $40 million into the Los Angeles community in the form of direct programs and grants to nonprofits.

“We are thrilled to announce the return of the sixth annual Blue Diamond Gala, the party for Los Angeles, celebrating and raising funds for the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation and our positive impact on the Los Angeles community,” said Walter, Dodgers owner and LADF chairman of the board. “We are truly honored to have an artist of Jennifer Lopez’s caliber performing at this year’s gala.”

Jennifer Lopez Documentary “Halftime” to Open This Year’s Tribeca Festival

The 52-year-old Puerto Rican superstar’s Netflix documentary Halftime will kick off the 2022 Tribeca Festival on June 8.

Halftime follows J.Lo’s rise to international stardom as the “Marry Me” star reflects on her milestones, evolution, and legacy as she navigates the second half of her iconic career.

Tribeca will host the film’s premiere at the United Palace in Washington Heights, just a few subway stops away from Lopez’s native Bronx.

Per the festival, Halftime offers an “intimate peek behind the curtain revealing the grit and determination that makes Jennifer Lopez the icon she is, from her performances onscreen and on stages around the world, to her Super Bowl Halftime show, to the recent Presidential inauguration. The documentary focuses on an international superstar who has inspired people for decades with her perseverance, creative brilliance, and cultural contributions.  And it’s only the beginning. ‘Halftime’ serves as the kickoff to the second half of Lopez’s life, as she lays bare her evolution as a Latina, a mother, and an artist, taking agency in her career and using her voice for a greater purpose.”

The 2022 Tribeca Festival will feature 12 days of events and experiences across New York City with a curated lineup of films, live concerts, performances, talks, and demonstrations. Venues include the Beacon Theater, the United Palace, Pier 57, Spring Studios, BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, SVA Theatre, Village East by Angelika, Cinépolis Chelsea, Waterfront Plaza at Brookfield Place, and Battery Park City.

The 2022 Tribeca Festival will take place from June 8 to June 20.

Amazon Acquires Jennifer Lopez-Produced Skydance TV Series “Backwards in Heels”

It’s a moment of heels-ing for Jennifer Lopez.

Amazon has acquired the Skydance TV series Backwards in Heels, produced by the 52-year-old Puerto Rican superstar, off the table.

Jennifer LopezThe series will be written and directed by Richard LaGravenese and follows the aspirational and timeless story about the glamorous women living at the Barbizon Hotel in post-WWII New York City.

Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina will produce under their Nuyorican Productions. Julie Goldstein is also producing.

The Barbizon Hotel, located at 140 East 63rd St. on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, was for several decades a female-only residential hotel for young women who came to NYC for professional opportunities.

Built in 1927, the 23-story hotel was a blend of Italian Renaissance and late Gothic revival and Islamic decorative elements.

No men were allowed above the ground floor, and strict dress and conduct rules were enforced. Men began to be admitted as guests in 1981.

Famous guests and residents throughout its history included Lauren Bacall, Betty Buckley, Joan Crawford, Rita Hayworth and Grace Kelly, among several others.

Lopez was honored with the Icon Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards last week. She recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of her breakout movie Selenain which she played the Tejano legend.

The actress’ recent romantic comedy feature Marry Mwas one of the most viewed movies ever on NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service, approaching 6M accounts. Before the pandemic, her crime caper feature Hustlers ranked as her highest-grossing live-action movie of her career at the domestic B.O. with $105M, and her biggest opening ever with $33M.

Lopez and her Nuyorican Productions are teaming with Skydance and Concord to develop a slate of original projects based on the latter’s catalog of musicals, which includes the works of Broadway icons Rodgers & Hammerstein.
