Chavira to Star in CBS’ NASA-Themed Drama Pilot “Mission Control”

Ricardo Chavira’s career is going out of this world…

The Mexican-American actor has been cast as a series regular in CBSNASA-themed drama pilot Mission Control.

He is joining the project, from The Martian author Andy Weir, The Martian producer Simon Kinberg and CBS Studios, in a recasting.

Written by Weir and directed by Jeremy Podeswa, Mission Control revolves around the next generation of NASA astronauts and scientists who juggle their personal and professional lives during a critical mission with no margin for error.

Chavira will play Diaz, director of the Johnson Space Center. He replaces Nestor Serrano, who originally was cast in the role.

Chavira, who starred on Desperate Housewives, just wrapped a season-long recurring arc as Bruce on the CW’s Jane the Virgin, also from CBS Studios.

Additionally, he is coming off high-profile arcs on ABC’s Scandal and Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet.

The 61-year-old Puerto Rican actor has been cast as a series regular in CBSNASA-themed drama pilot Mission Control, from The Martian author Andy Weir, The Martian producer Simon Kinberg and veteran showrunner Charles Eglee (Dexter).

Serrano will play Diaz, director of the Johnson Space Center.

Garcia Lands Role in CBS’ “The Ordained” Pilot

Jorge Garcia could be appearing on “the Eye network” in the near future…

The 39-year-old half-Cuban/half-Chilean American actor, who recently guest-starred on ABC’s Once Upon a Time, has landed a role in CBS’ drama pilot The Ordained.

Starring Charlie Cox and Nestor Serrano, the project centers on Tom Reilly (Cox), the son of a Kennedy-like family who leaves his life as a priest and becomes a lawyer at a noted New York firm to prevent his politician sister from being assassinated.

The Lost alum will portray Carlos, the law firm’s staff investigator.

Garcia’s television credits include a starring role in Fox’s short-lived series Alcatraz, as well as guest-starring role on Showtime’s Californication.

Serrano Cast in CBS’ Drama Pilot “The Ordained”

Nestor Serrano could be CBS’ next bad guy…

The 57-year-old Latino actor has landed a role in CBS’ drama pilot The Ordained.

Directed by RJ Cutler, the project revolves around Tom, the son of a Kennedy-type family who leaves his role as priest and becomes a lawyer to help prevent the assassination of his politician sister.

Serrano, who starred opposite Roselyn Sanchez in Act of Valor last summer, will portray Hector Nunez, a politician-turned-partner-at- New-York-law-firm where Tom works as a lawyer, and the man Tom suspects is the force behind the plot to kill his sister.

Serrano, who has a recurring role on CBS’ Blue Bloods, has previously appeared on Dexter, Burn Notice, Homeland, Alias, 24, Ugly Betty and Law & Order.

Rivera to Appear in “The Devil’s In The Details”

Emilio Rivera’s next role will land him in the middle of a deadly Mexican drug war…

The 51-year-old Mexican American actor has signed on to star in The Devil’s In The Details.

Hailing from debut feature helmer Waymon Boone, the action thriller stars Ray Liotta as a psychiatrist who finds himself caught in the middle of a deadly Mexican drug war. Lane Garrison and newcomer Joel Mathews also star.

Rivera, who recently starred opposite Roselyn Sanchez and Nestor Serrano in Act of Valor, has appeared in such films as Next Day Air, Spider-Man 3 and Collateral.
