Camille Guaty to Star in the Live-Action Film Adaptation of Crockett Johnson’s Children’s Book “Harold and the Purple Crayon”

Camille Guaty is seeing purple…

The 45-year-old Puerto Rican and Cuban American actress is set to star opposite Zachary Levi, Zooey Deschanel, Lil Rel Howery and Ravi Patel in Sony Pictures’ live-action adaptation of Harold and the Purple Crayon.

Hailing from Oscar-nominated director Carlos Saldanha, the film is based on the 1955 children’s book by Crockett Johnson that follows Harold, a curious 4-year-old who, with his purple crayon, has the power to create a world of his own.

David Guion and Michael Handelman handled the screenplay adaptation. John Davis is producing through Davis Entertainment.

The film is slated for release in theaters on January 27, 2023.

Guaty recently wrapped a major recuring role on ABC’s hit series The Rookie. She’s previously appeared in series including The Good Doctor, Daytime Divas, Scorpion and Prison Break, and in such films as David Wain’s National Lampoon biopic A Futile and Stupid Gesture and Haifaa Al-Mansour’s Nappily Ever After for Netflix, and Damiel Barnz’ indie Cake, starring Jennifer Aniston.

Kalinda Vazquez to Write “Star Trek” Film for Paramount Pictures

Kalinda Vazquez has landed an out of this world opportunity…

The Latina television writer and producer has been set by Paramount Pictures to write a Star Trek film.

JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot is producing.

Vazquez has written on Star Trek: Discovery, and insiders say this is a blind deal for an original movie that she hatched, one that expands her role in the Star Trek Universe.

Vazquez was a co-executive producer on Fear the Walking Dead. She also got her name from the original Star Trek series, after a character from the second-season episode “By Any Other Name.” In the 1968 episode, the character’s name was Kelinda.

Vazquez just made a splash in teaming with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin on an HBO series adaptation of the Roger Zelazny sci-fi novel Roadmarks.

Vazquez’s television credits include Marvel’s Runaways, Once Upon a Time, Nikita, Human Target and Prison Break, and she recently adapted Barrier, based on a Brian K. Vaughan graphic novel, for Legendary Television.

Alex Meneses to Appear on The CW’s “Walker”

Alex Meneses has landed a mother of a role…

The 56-year-old half-Mexican American actress has joined the cast of The CW’s drama Walker in a recurring role.

Meneses, who has appeared on Jane The Virgin and Why Women Kill, will play Adriana, a successful psychiatrist and published author and mother of Micki Ramirez (Lindsey Morgan), Cordell Walker’s new partner in the Texas Rangers. She’s a strong personality who’s manipulative and very invasive when it comes to her daughter Micki’s life.

Walker, which launched in January, has become The CW’s most-watched series premiere in five years and has been renewed for a second season. It stars Jared Padalecki as Walker, a widower and father of two with his own moral code, as he returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years.

The series, a reimagining of CBS’ long-running 1990s action/crime series Walker, Texas Ranger, hails from Rideback and CBS Studios.

Meneses is coming off feature film The Wall of Mexico and has also appeared in Everybody Loves Raymond, The Goldbergs, CSI and Prison Break.

Danay Garcia to Star in the Indie Thriller “Dead End”

Danay Garcia has reached a dead end…

The 35-year-old Cuban actress and model, best known for her role as Luciana on AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead, will star in Dead End, an indie thriller directed by Mikhael Bassilli and Luc Walpoth.

Michael Drayer, Travis Hammer, Taja V. Simpson and newcomer Vernon Taylor III also star.

The plot for the film, which was written by Bassilli and MJ Palo, follows a pair of fugitives who, after a home invasion turns into a bloody shootout, find refuge in the nearby house of a single mother as the neighborhood goes into police lockdown. The fugitives’ only hope of escaping is Minny (Garcia), their fiery (and very pregnant) getaway driver. With the clock ticking, it’s all up to Minny to hatch an escape plan in time for the major payday.

In addition to Fear the Walking Dead, Garcia’s credits include Prison Break, Hawaii Five-0 and Supernatural.

Alex Meneses to Appear on The CW’s “Jane the Virgin”

Alex Meneses is heading to Virgin territory…

The 52-year-old half-Mexican American actress and former Telenovela star has landed a recurring role on the upcoming fourth season of The CW’s hit dramedy Jane the Virgin.

Meneses will play Katherine, owner of the Cortes Hotel Conglomerate, who is a possible investor of Rafael (Justin Baldoni) and Petra’s (Yael Grobglas) hotel.

There are few details about the Season 4 storyline, but Jane the Virgin creator/executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman told Deadline after the Season 3 finale that the fourth season would be about “recapturing the joy.”

“I want to see Jane fight for her joy,” she said. “I want to see her go after her happiness. I want to see her open herself up to a new, evolved version of ‘happily ever after.’”

In addition to Telenovela, for which she was nominated for an Imagen Award, Meneses is known for her recurring role as Stefania, Brad Garrett’s Italian girlfriend on Everybody Loves Raymond.

Additional credits include The Goldbergs, CSI and Prison Break.

Camille Guaty to Star in Netflix’s Original Film “Nappily Ever After”

Camille Guaty is ready for her Ever After…

The Puerto Rican and Cuban American actress has joined the supporting cast of the Netflix original film Nappily Ever After.

From director Haifaa Al-Mansour, the film centers on Violet Jones (Sanaa Lathan), whose seemingly flawless life is interrupted after an accident at the hairdresser leads to the realization that she isn’t living the life that she really wanted.

Guaty, one of the stars of VH1’s Daytime Divas, plays the fun-loving Wendy, one of Violet’s best friends.

The film is based on Trisha R. Thomas’ 2000 novel with an original script by Tina Chism and rewrites from Lisa Loomer, Adam Brooks and Gina Prince-Bythewood.

Filming is underway in Atlanta.

Guaty, who recently appeared in Fox’s The Exorcist and CBS’ Scorpion, is best known for her roles in Gotta Kick It Up! And Fox’s Prison Break.

Nolasco to Star in ABC’s FBI Crime Drama Pilot “Deception”

Amaury Nolasco is practicing to deceive…

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican and Dominican American actor has been cast as a series regular opposite Lenora Crichlow and Jack Cutmore-Scott in ABC pilot Deception, an FBI crime drama procedural.

In Deception, when his career is ruined by scandal, superstar magician Cameron Black (Cutmore-Scott) has only one place to turn to practice his art of deception, illusion, and influence — the FBI. He’ll become the world’s first consulting illusionist, helping the government solve crimes that defy explanation, and trap criminals and spies by using deception.

Nolasco will play Mike Alvarez, a classic FBI agent and, secretly, a huge fan of magic.

Deception hails from Chuck co-creator Chris Fedak and the Blindspot team of creator Martin Gero and magician David Kwong, Warner Bros. Television and Greg Berlanti’s studio-based Berlanti Productions. The pilot was written by Chris Fedak and will be directed by David Nutter.

Nolasco is currently reprising his role of Fernando Sucre in Fox’s Prison Break event series. His other television credits include appearances on George Lopez, Mind of Mencia, CSI: Miami, Gang Related and Telenovela.

TNT Renews Botto’s “Good Behavior” for a Second Season

Juan Diego Botto is preparing for another year of good behavior.

TNT has renewed Good Behavior, starring the 41-year-old Argentine-Spanish actor, for a second season.

Based on the Letty Dobesh books by Blake Crouch, the drama stars Michelle Dockery as Letty, a thief and con artist fresh out of prison trying to stay afloat and reunite with her young son.

Crouch executive produces with Chad Hodge, who serves as showrunner, Marty Adelstein (Prison Break) and Becky Clements (Last Man Standing) of ITV‘s Tomorrow Studios.

“Fueled by unsinkable characters on a dangerous search for belonging, love and family, Good Behavior is addictive television,” said TNT executive vice president of original programming Sarah Aubrey. “Millions of viewers have fallen hard for this sexy, complicated couple, and in season two, Letty and Javier will give us plenty more to obsess about.”

Coming in just below other TNT original dramas, at least in traditional measurements, Good Behavior typically earns around 1.5 million viewers once live-plus-3 lifts are factored in. However, as it has with its other young dramas, TNT made sure to tout multiplatform viewing for Good Behavior in its pickup announcement Saturday. According to the cabler, Good Behavior has reached an average of 4.4 million viewers per episode across TNT’s digital and mobile platforms.

It’s Botto’s first starring role in American television.

Garcia to Star on AMC’s “Fear The Walking Dead”

Danay Garcia is extra Fear-full these days…

The 32-year-old Cuban actress has been cast on AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead.

Garcia, who appeared on Fox‘s drama series Prison Break, will portray Lucia, a solider who is connected with a religious group that see the walkers as part of an evolution.

“It’s not a normal job, it’s a Fear The Walking Dead job,” said Garcia alum of what it was like to join the show to big laughs from the crowd.

The second half of the series current season will debut on Sunday, August 21 and will feature a separated group still in Mexico with some religious groups embracing the walkers and road gangs wrecking bloodthirsty havoc in the anarchy of a society that has fallen apart.

“For the first time we are going to see our characters really having to learn to survive in the apocalypse,” says executive producer Dave Erickson. “We are going to see a level of intensity and violence in the back half that we haven’t seen before,” the showrunner added.

Having premiered to record breaking ratings on August 23 last year with a six-episode run, FearTWD saw its second 15-episode season start on April 10 and went on midseason break on May 22. The series was renewed for a third season on April 15.

Garcia’s credits include appearances on CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, The Cleaner and Supernatural.

Nolasco to Reprise His Role on Fox’s “Prison Break” Event Series

Amaury Nolasco is heading back behind bars…

The 45-year-old Puerto Rican actor has confirmed via Instagram that he’ll reprise his role of Fernando Sucre opposite fellow returning stars Sarah Wayne Callies, Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell in Fox’s Prison Break event series.

Production is set to begin next month in Vancouver on the nine-episode follow-up to the cult 2005 Fox action series.

The original Prison Break, which ran for four seasons, centered on Michael (Miller), who went to prison to try and save his convicted brother Lincoln (Purcell) by hatching an elaborate escape plan.

In the drama’s new chapter, which picks up after Michael’s apparent death, Sara (Callies) has moved on with her life, raising her and Michael’s child with her new husband (Mark Feuerstein). When clues surface suggesting that Michael may be alive, Sara teams with Lincoln to engineer the series’ biggest escape ever.

Deals are pending for the other returning original players, Robert Knepper, Paul Adelstein and Rockmond Dunbar.

Nolasco co-stars on the NBC comedy series Telenovela.
