Ricardo Chavira to Appear Opposite Kim Cattrall in Netflix’s Drama Series “Glamorous”

The 50-year-old Mexican American actor and former Desperate Housewives star has landed a heavily recurring role opposite Kim Cattrall in Netflix’s drama series Glamorous, from Jordon Nardino and Damon Wayans Jr.

Ricardo ChaviraGlamorous, which originally had been ordered to pilot at The CW in 2019, tells the story of Marco Mejia, played by previously announced Miss Benny, a gender-nonconforming queer young man whose life seems to be stuck in place until he lands a job working for legendary makeup mogul Madolyn Addison (Cattrall). It’s Marco’s first chance to figure out what he wants out of life, who he actually is and what it really means for him to be queer.

Chavira plays Teddy. The handsome personal full-time driver for makeup mogul Madolyn Addison (Cattrall), as well as maybe her closest confidant. Professional but unpolished, Teddy isn’t wowed by Madolyn’s celebrity or beauty and enjoys calling her out on her bullshit and telling it to her like it is. Their friendly sparring and frank relationship betray a chemistry that could lead to more, if either of them was willing to admit it.

Nardino writes and exec produces the 10-part drama series, which is also executive-produced by Wayans Jr. and Kameron Tarlow of Two Shakes Entertainment. CBS Studios is the studio.

Chavira most recently appeared in the Netflix series Selena as a series regular and can next be seen in the upcoming third season of Apple’s Truth Be Told. He is best known for his portrayal of Carlos Solis in the hit ABC series Desperate Housewives. Other credits include Kevin Can Wait, Jane the Virgin, The Santa Clarita Diet, and Scandal.

Ricardo Chavira is dealing with the Truth…

The 50-year-old Mexican American actor has been cast in Season 3 of Apple TV+’s series Truth Be Told as a recurring guest star.

Descending into the world of true-crime podcasts, Truth Be Told stars Octavia Spencer as podcaster Poppy Scoville, who risks everything—including her life—to pursue truth and justice.

Based on the novel by Kathleen Barber, the series provides a unique glimpse into America’s obsession with true crime podcasts and challenges its viewers to consider the consequences when the pursuit of justice is placed on a public stage.

The upcoming season will see Poppy focus on a new case with newly added Gabrielle Union starring as Eva, an outspoken high school principal who becomes embroiled in a problematic incident.

With Spencer’s Poppy as the thread through the anthology series and a core cast around Spencer also staying on, each season tells a different story and features new stars opposite her.

The NAACP Image Award-winning series is created and executive produced by Nichelle Tramble Spellman. Season 3 is helmed by showrunner Maisha Closson, who also serves as executive producer.

In addition to starring, Spencer serves as executive producer alongside producing partner Brian Clisham via her company, Orit Entertainment. The series is produced for Apple TV+ by Hello Sunshine, Chernin Entertainment, and Endeavor Content.

Chavira most recently appeared in the Netflix series Selena as a series regular. He is best known for his portrayal of Carlos Solis on ABC’s hit series Desperate Housewives.

His other credits include Kevin Can Wait, Jane the Virgin, The Santa Clarita Diet and Scandal.

Netflix has revealed a new date for part two of Selena: The Series, starring the 30-year-old half-Mexican American actress as the late Tejano music icon. It will now be released on May 4.

Along with the new date for the final part of the two-part series, Netflix also released a teaser featuring Selena in her signature sparkly criss-cross purple pantsuit singing “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” at the Houston Astrodome in Texas, where she performed her last televised concert.

Part 1 of the series, which “explores Selena Quintanilla‘s journey from singing small gigs to becoming the most successful female Latin artist of all time,” made its Netflix debut on December 4, starring Serratos as singer.

“[Selena] created a path for herself when it was arguably difficult for Latinas,” Serratos previously told Billboard. “Being a woman in the industry is super tricky, but she managed to be incredibly powerful, strong, and resilient and [to] be a pioneer while being incredibly gracious, and I always thought that was so beautiful.”

Other cast members include Ricardo Chavira, who co-stars as Selena’s father, Abraham; Gabriel Chavarria as her brother A.B.; Noemi Gonzalez as her sister Suzette; Seidy Lopez as her mother, Marcella; and Madison Taylor Baez as young Selena.

Christian Serratos is returning to the stage in May…

The 30-year-old half-Mexican American actress will continue to portray the legendary Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla in Netflix’s Selena: The Series on May 14.

“When Selena Quintanilla burst onto the Tejano music scene in the ‘80s, her dream was to make music that celebrated both her Latin roots and her Mexican-American upbringing. She ultimately brought these two worlds together, leaving behind a timeless legacy that still resonates with generations of fans around the world,” said Francisco Ramos, VP of Latin American Originals. “We had the same hopes when we released Selena: The Series in December on Netflix. We wanted to pay tribute to the young girl with big dreams and an even bigger voice, and honor her incredible rise from performing local gigs with her family to gracing some of the world’s biggest stages.”

Along with the date for part 2, the streaming platform tweeted that in its first four weeks, “25 million households sang ‘Como La Flor‘ along with Selena: The Series – and half of those fans came from the U.S.”

The show also reached Netflix’s Top 10 list in 23 countries including the U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and Peru. Half of the fans came from the U.S., where it spent its first week in the #1 spot on the Top 10 list.

The 30-year-old half-Mexican American actress, who stars in as La Reina de la Musica Tejana on Netflix’s Selena: The Series, has signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA).

Selena: The Series is the highly anticipated show that follows the life of the late Selena Quintanilla, who was known as the Queen of Tejano Music. Created by Moises Zamora, the series is not only a coming-of-age story but also a family drama. The series takes us on Selena’s journey as she pursues her dreams. Along the way, we experience the heart-wrenching and life-changing choices she and her family have to make as they navigate success, family, and music. The series also features Gabriel Chavarria, Ricardo Chavira, Noemí Gonzalez and Seidy López.

Serratos also serves as producer of the Netflix series, which debuted on Friday.

In addition to Selena, Serratos stars as Rosita Espinosa on AMC’s hit sci-fi/supernatural drama series The Walking Dead and previously starred as the non-vampire Angela in the multi-billion dollar Twilight franchise.

Netflix is giving Selena fans a closer look at Christian Serratos as the late Tejano queen…

The streamer has released a new full-length trailer for the upcoming Selena: The Series, starring the 30-year-old Mexican American actress.

The clip illustrates the scope of the two-part drama, depicting a very young – and already strong-voiced – Selena Quintanilla catching fireflies while singing to herself “I’m Leaving It (All) Up To You,” the golden oldie that Donny and Marie Osmond resurrected for a hit single in 1974.

From there, The trailer shows scenes from Selena’s teenage years, her early career, life on the road, some backstage drama and finally her adoration by lighter-holding audiences.

Here’s how Netflix describes the two-part series: “A coming-of-age story following Selena as she chases her dreams, and the heart-wrenching and life-changing sacrifices she and her family make as they navigate the highs and lows of success, loss, love, and music.”

Starring Serratos, Gabriel Chavarria, Ricardo Chavira, Noemí Gonzalez, and Seidy López, Selena is exec produced by Jaime Dávila, Rico Martinez, Hiromi Kamata, Suzette Quintanilla, Simran A. Singh and Moises Zamora, and was created by Zamora, with Don Todd consulting.

Netflix has announced plans to release the 30-year-old Mexican American actress’ Selena: The Series, the biographical drama about Tejano music legend Selena Quintanilla, on December 4.

The premiere date announcement was made via Netflix’s Latinx social media arm Con Todo.

In a tweet with the message “Every Legend Begins With a Dream,” the premiere date was announced and a teaser trailer and poster art released.

Serratos stars as Selena, Ricardo Chavira as Abraham Quintanilla, Gabriel Chavarria as Selena’s brother AB, with Julio Macias, Jesse Posey, Hunter Reese Peña, and Carlos Alfredo, Jr. set as series regulars, and Juan Martinez, Daniela Estrada and Paul Rodriguez, Jr. to recur.

Selena: The Series is a coming-of-age story following Selena (Serratos) as her dreams come true and all the heart-wrenching and life-changing choices she and her family have to make as they navigate success, family, and music.

Also in the cast: Noemi Gonzalez, Seidy Lopez and Madison Taylor Baez.

Moisés Zamora is the writer/executive producer. Jaime Dávila, Rico Martinez, Suzette Quintanilla and Simran A. Singh executive produce; Campanario Entertainment is the production company. Hiromi Kamata directs part 1, which consists of six one-hour episodes.

Nearly a year after revealing that it was developing a series based on the life of Selena, Netflix has officially unveiled a sneak peek at Selena: The Series, starring the 29-year-old half-Mexican American actress asLa Reina de la Musica Tejana.

“Get your first look at Christian Serratos, who will play Selena Quintanilla in a coming of age story chronicling the iconic singer’s rise,” a tweet stated, adding that Selena: The Series’ first part will premiere in 2020.

Serratos is best known for her roles as Rosita Espinosa on AMC‘s The Walking Dead, Suzie Crabgrass on the Nickelodeon series Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide and Angela Weber in The Twilight Saga series. 

In addition to Serratos’ taking the lead, Netflix confirmed that Ricardo Chavirawill co-star as Selena’s father Abraham, Gabriel Chavarriaas her brother A.B., Noemi Gonzalezas her sister Suzette, Seidy Lopezas her mother Marcella, and Madison Taylor Baez as young Selena.

On December 11, 2018, the official Netflix U.S. news Twitter account revealed that the Quintanilla family, along with Jaime Dávilaand Rico Martinezfrom Campanario Entertainment, Simran A. Singh, and Moisés Zamora, would executive produce the project.

Chavira to Star in CBS’ NASA-Themed Drama Pilot “Mission Control”

Ricardo Chavira’s career is going out of this world…

The Mexican-American actor has been cast as a series regular in CBS’ NASA-themed drama pilot Mission Control.

He is joining the project, from The Martian author Andy Weir, The Martian producer Simon Kinberg and CBS Studios, in a recasting.

Written by Weir and directed by Jeremy Podeswa, Mission Control revolves around the next generation of NASA astronauts and scientists who juggle their personal and professional lives during a critical mission with no margin for error.

Chavira will play Diaz, director of the Johnson Space Center. He replaces Nestor Serrano, who originally was cast in the role.

Chavira, who starred on Desperate Housewives, just wrapped a season-long recurring arc as Bruce on the CW’s Jane the Virgin, also from CBS Studios.

Additionally, he is coming off high-profile arcs on ABC’s Scandal and Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet.

The 45-year-old Mexican American actor and former Desperate Housewives star has landed a recurring role on the upcoming third season of The CW’s Jane The Virgin, playing Xo’s (Andrea Navedo) ex-boyfriend who dated her when he was married.

In one of several cliffhangers in the Season 2 finale, Xo, who had just slept with ex-husband Rogelio’s nemesis Esteban, was seen holding a positive pregnancy test for a baby that could be any of the two men’s.

Chavira starred as Carlos Solis opposite Eva Longoria on all eight seasons of ABC’s Desperate Housewives and has been recurring as presidential candidate Francisco Vargas on ABC’s Scandal.

He’ll next be seen opposite Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant on Netflix’s new comedy series Santa Clarita Diet.
