Fernanda Andrade to Appear on Paramount+’s Crime Thriller “Finestkind”

It’s the finest hour for Fernanda Andrade.

The 38-year-old Brazilian actress and model has joined the cast of Paramount+’s crime thriller, Finestkind.

Set in America’s biggest commercial fishing port of New Bedford, Massachusetts, Finestkind tells the story of two brothers (Foster and Wallace) from opposite sides of the tracks, who are reunited as adults over one fateful summer. When desperate circumstances force them to strike a deal with a dangerous Boston crime syndicate, a young woman (Ortega) finds herself caught in the middle. Along the way, sacrifices must be made, and bonds between brothers, friends, and a father (Jones) and his son are put to the test. Andrade plays Anne Marie, a great mom and loving wife to Cordova’s fisherman, Costa.

Brian Helgeland wrote and is directing the film, which will debut exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. later this year, becoming available for streaming in Australia, Canada, Latin America, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and South Korea when the service launches in those markets.

Andrade was recently seen on Disney+’s Moon Knight, and will soon recur on Showtime’s vampire drama series Let the Right One In, opposite Demián Bichir and Nick Stahl. The actress has also been seen on series including Next, Narcos: MexicoThe First, NCIS: Los AngelesHere and NowScorpion and Sons of Anarchy, among others.

Additional film credits include Lying and StealingDie Like Lovers and The Devil Inside.

Camille Guaty to Star in the Live-Action Film Adaptation of Crockett Johnson’s Children’s Book “Harold and the Purple Crayon”

The 45-year-old Puerto Rican and Cuban American actress is set to star opposite Zachary Levi, Zooey Deschanel, Lil Rel Howery and Ravi Patel in Sony Pictures’ live-action adaptation of Harold and the Purple Crayon.

Camille GuatyHailing from Oscar-nominated director Carlos Saldanha, the film is based on the 1955 children’s book by Crockett Johnson that follows Harold, a curious 4-year-old who, with his purple crayon, has the power to create a world of his own.

David Guion and Michael Handelman handled the screenplay adaptation. John Davis is producing through Davis Entertainment.

The film is slated for release in theaters on January 27, 2023.

Guaty recently wrapped a major recuring role on ABC’s hit series The Rookie. She’s previously appeared in series including The Good Doctor, Daytime DivasScorpion and Prison Break, and in such films as David Wain’s National Lampoon biopic A Futile and Stupid Gesture and Haifaa Al-Mansour’s Nappily Ever After for Netflix, and Damiel Barnz’ indie Cake, starring Jennifer Aniston.

The 37-year-old Brazilian actress and model will appear in the new Showtime series Let The Right One In in a recurring role.

Fernanda AndradeAndrade, known for her work in Narcos: Mexico and Songs of Anarchy, will play Elizabeth, the spirited wife of Mark (Demián Bichir) and devoted mother of Eleanor (Madison Taylor Baez). Elizabeth’s love for her family motivates her to go to any length to protect them.

The roles has been recast. Andrade replaces Susan Santiago, who played the role in the pilot.

The vampire drama series is inspired by the bestselling 2004 novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist and its 2008 Swedish film adaptation. It’s described as an exploration of human frailty, strength, and compassion through an elevated genre lens.

It centers on Mark and his daughter Eleanor, whose lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. Locked in at age 12, perhaps forever, Eleanor lives a closed-in life, able to go out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the human blood she needs to stay alive.

Let the Right One In is produced by Tomorrow Studios. Bichir will serve as a producer on the series.

Andrade most recently appeared in Fox’s NeXt in the role of Shea Salazar. She also has credits in big and small screen projects including Sons of AnarchyScorpionNCIS: Los Angeles, and Narcos: Mexico.

The 34-year-old Brazilian actress/model has been cast in the Fox drama pilot “neXt,” according to Variety.

She joins previously announced cast member Eve Harlow.

neXt is described as a fact-based thriller grounded in the latest A.I. research. It features a brilliant but paranoid former tech CEO who joins a Homeland Cybersecurity Agent and her team to stop the world’s first artificial intelligence crisis: the emergence of a rogue A.I. with the ability to continuously improve itself.

Andrade will play Shea, an FBIagent with the cybercrime division. Shea has overcome a troubled, sometimes violent past in her home country to become the youngest agent to run her own cyber division. 

Andrade recently appeared in The FirstNCIS: Los Angelesand Here and Now. She’ll also appear in Season 2 of Narcos: Mexicoon Netflix

Her other television credits include Sons of AnarchyScorpionand Kingdom.

Manny Coto, who previously worked on Fox shows like 24 and 24: Legacy, will write and executive produce neXtTwentieth Century Fox Televisionwill produce.

The 45-year-old Mexican film and television screenwriter and producerand Emmy-winning animation studio ShadowMachine have joined the effort by digital studio The Nuttery Entertainment to bring to life the animated sci-fi saga Galaga Chronicles, a story based on Bandai Namco’s classic arcade game.

The Nuttery announced the project at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The animated re-imagining of the iconic game is planned for a 12-episode inaugural season. The series is being shopped for distribution but anticipates a late 2019/early 2020 premiere.

Long before the days of Call of Duty and Mario Kart, Galaga, was the arcade video game to play. In the retro video game similar to Space Invadersthe player controlled a starfighter and the objective was to destroy insect-like alien creatures to rack up as many points as possible.

Orci will work with The Nuttery to shape the vast and sprawling Galaga Chronicles universe and also will serve as an executive producer. Known for the films Transformers, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Star Trek and creator of the television shows Sleepy Hollow and ScorpionOrci also will serve as an executive producer.

“Galaga is one of the games I played growing up,” Orci said. “I have fond memories of the quarters and hours upon hours I spent playing the game. I look forward to working with The Nuttery and to capture that magic in an exciting new format.”

ShadowMachine, producer of television shows BoJack Horseman, Robot Chicken and Final Spacewill be the animation production company. “This is by far one of the best video game adaptations I’ve ever read or been a part of. It is an absolute playground for animation.” ShadowMachine founder and CEO Alexander Bulkley said.

“We couldn’t be more stoked to have this level of creativity and craftsmanship on board our space adventure,” said Magnus Jansson, CEO of The Nuttery. “Roberto’s incredible sense of story and science fiction mastery and ShadowMachine’s excellent animation and design chops have already elevated the project to the next level. Co-created by Hank Steinberg and Steve Kane, the postapocalyptic naval drama stars Eric Dane, Adam Baldwin and Bridget Regan.

The series details the aftermath of a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Now, CNO Captain Tom Chandler (Dane) and his crew must confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors. Doherty will play Clayton, a cadet at the U.S. Navel Academy who becomes Chandler’s protege.

Oliva is Pena, the scariest of Octavio’s special operators.

Oliva recently booked guest spots on Amazon’s I Love Dick, CBSScorpion and NCIS: Los Angeles.

The Puerto Rican and Cuban American actress has joined the supporting cast of the Netflix original film Nappily Ever After.

From director Haifaa Al-Mansour, the film centers on Violet Jones (Sanaa Lathan), whose seemingly flawless life is interrupted after an accident at the hairdresser leads to the realization that she isn’t living the life that she really wanted.

Guaty, one of the stars of VH1’s Daytime Divas, plays the fun-loving Wendy, one of Violet’s best friends.

The film is based on Trisha R. Thomas’ 2000 novel with an original script by Tina Chism and rewrites from Lisa Loomer, Adam Brooks and Gina Prince-Bythewood.

Filming is underway in Atlanta.

Guaty, who recently appeared in Fox’s The Exorcist and CBSScorpion, is best known for her roles in Gotta Kick It Up! And Fox’s Prison Break.

Too Close to Home tells the story of a young woman from a modest upbringing who discovers she may have a bright future in Washington D.C.’s fast-paced political scene. When Anna (Danielle Savre) leaves her trailer park home in Alabama in a cloud of dust, she cuts all ties with her family and buries every element of her checkered past. Her friends in Washington think she comes from a wealthy family and know nothing of her real upbringing. Suddenly, the real Anna is exposed when she causes a major political scandal and makes national headlines for her part in an affair with one of the nation’s most powerful players. With nowhere to turn, she’s forced to find sanctuary in the only place she has left – home.

In addition to Ochoa and Savre, the cast includes Brock O’Hurn, Kelly Sullivan, Brad Benedict and Brooke Anne Smith, Alpha Trivette, Trisha Rae Stahl, Robert Craighead, Annie Thrash, Curran Walters, Ashley Love-Mills, Nick Ballard, Charles Justo and Justin Gabriel.

The Cuban-American actor has been cast as a series regular in the ABC drama pilot The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez, a project from writer Charise Castro Smith and producers Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters.

Described as a sexy revenge drama with supernatural elements, a sort of “Macbeth with a Cuban twist,” it centers on Eva Sofia Valdez, an immigrant who rose from rags to riches and is a celebrated Miami entrepreneur and a champion of immigrant rights. But her success is fueled by an insatiable ambition that could destroy her family, a vendetta against the lover who betrayed her and ghosts from the past who threaten to reveal the dark sacrifices Eva Sofia made to attain the American Dream.

Ochoa will play Nicolas Valdez, Eva Sofia’s youngest son, a handsome lawyer and “effortless prince” who is his mother’s undeniable favorite.

Ochoa, the male lead in Sydney Freelands’ television series Her Story, has appeared on Burn Notice and Scorpion.
