Mau y Ricky Renew Publishing Deal with Sony/ATV

Mau and Ricky Montaner’s music won’t be finding a new home…

The Venezuelan brothers, better known as Mau y Ricky, have renewed their publishing deal with Sony/ATV, according to Billboard.

“We are happy to remain part of the Sony/ATV family where our songs have a house and are well maintained,” Mau and Ricky tell Billboard. “It’s been many years now. [President and CEO, Latin America and U.S. Latin] Jorge Mejia trusts in our talent and we trust him.”

The Latin Grammy-nominated duo,  sons of music icon Ricardo Montaner, officially joined Sony/ATV in 2014 and since then have been working with many stars including Thalia,Karol G,Sofia Reyes,Lali,Ednita Nazario and Miguel Bosé, to name a few.

On the Billboard charts, Mau and Ricky have also scored hits as songwriters, including Ricky Martin’s “Vente Pa’ Ca,” which debuted at No.1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplaychart in 2016, and “Sin Pijama” by Becky Gand Natti Natasha, which also topped that chart in 2018.

“They are part of our house, composers who are part of the company’s DNA and we trust them,” concludes Mejia.

Maluma to Receive Extraordinary Evolution Award at the Latin American Music Awards

The 24-year-old Colombian superstar is set to receive the Extraordinary Evolution Award at this year’s Latin American Music Awards (Latin AMAs), Telemundo has announced.

Maluma is also confirmed to perform at the fourth annual show to be held from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, on October 25.

Maluma has placed 24 songs on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart, nine of which went to No. 1: “Borro Cassette” (2015), “El Perdedor” featuring Yandel (2016), “Sin Contrato” that featured a version with Fifth Harmony and another with Don Omar & Wisin (2017), “Vente Pa’ Ca” by Ricky Martin featuring Maluma (2016), Shakira’s “Chantaje” featuring Maluma (2016), “Felices los 4” (2017), “Corazón” with Nego do Borel (2018), “El Préstamo” (2018, leading for 2 weeks), and “El Clavo” by Prince Royce featuring Maluma (Sept. 1, 2018).

His sophomore album, Pretty Boy Dirty Boydebuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart in 2015, and his latest album, F.A.M.E.debuted at No. 1 this June and currently stands at No. 5 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart.

On social media, Maluma has reached an astonishing 17.5M subscribers on YouTube, 35.5M on Instagram, 5.6M on Facebook and 5.6M on Twitter.

Ricky Martin’s “Fiebre” Reaches Top 10 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Songs Chart

Make that 37 hits for Ricky Martin

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican superstar has notched his 37th top 10 hit on Billboard’s Latin Pop Songs airplay chart, as his new single “Fiebre,” featuring Wisin & Yandel, lifts 15-9 in its third week on the list.

The track jumps 23 percent in spins at the format in the week ending March 11, according to Nielsen Music.

The song was released on February 23, following Martin’s live performance of the tune at the Dubai Jazz Festival.

Notably, out of Martin’s 48 charting titles on the Latin Pop Songs chart, 37 have reached the top 10. He continues to have the second-most top 10s in the tally’s 23-year history, trailing only Enrique Iglesias, with 41.

“Fiebre” is Martin’s first new entry on the chart since “Vente Pa’ Ca,” featuring Maluma, bowed on the list dated October 15, 2016. It peaked at No. 1 for two weeks (November 5-12).

Maluma Logs Fifth Top Five Hit on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart with “Felices Los 4”

Maluma has a handful of hits…

The 23-year-old Colombian singer-songwriter’s “Felices Los 4” has become his fifth top five hit on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart (dated May 27), as the track jumps 7-5 in its third week on the multi-metric tally (which blends airplay, sales and streams).

The new track previews the singer’s upcoming album, X, due later this year.

Streaming powers the song, with 5 million streams logged in the tracking week ending May 11, according to Nielsen Music (up 26 percent).

Of its total, 47 percent stem from YouTube plays, due in part to its popular music video. Spotify leads on-demand audio streams, with 1.4 million clicks in the most recent week.

Elsewhere, “Felices” vaults 22-13 on the Latin Airplay chart, taking Greatest Gainer honors, hiking 44 percent to 8.4 million audience impressions (in the week ending May 14).

He first reached the top five in 2015 with “Borro Cassette,” his breakout U.S. hit, peaking at No. 3. His top five follow-up came in 2016 when “El Perdedor,” featuring Yandel, got to No. 4 (July 16), shortly thereafter matching the No. 4 peak as a feature on Ricky Martin’s “Vente Pa’ Ca” (October 15).

Maluma concurrently remains in the top five of Hot Latin Songs as a featured guest on Shakira’s “Chantaje” for a 25th consecutive week (it previously crowned the chart for 11 weeks). The two Colombian stars also teamed up on a new song, “Trap,” which will appear on Shakira’s forthcoming album, El Dorado, out May 12.
