HBO Max Renews Rosie Perez’s “The Flight Attendant” for Second Season

HBO Max has renewed The Flight Attendant, starring the 56-year-old actress, choreographer and community activist and Kaley Cuoco, for a second season.

The series, based on the book of the same name by bestselling author Chris Bohjalian, centers on alcoholic, globe-trotting flight attendant Cassie Bowen (Cuoco) who becomes embroiled in an espionage plot following her affair with a first class passenger, who winds up murdered after their night together.

Flight Attendant was originally intended to be a limited series, but series creator and EP Steve Yockey knew there was more string he could pull upon.

The series finale leaves Cassie in a position to encounter more global intrigue.

HBO Max reports that the first season of Flight Attendant saw week-over-week growth and ranked as the streamer’s No. 1 series overall during its run. The eight-episode first season debuted November 6.

Flight Attendant has a 98% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes and Cuoco has received high praise for her comedic-dramatic turn as a woman continually coming to terms with her torturous past.

The series also stars Perez, Michiel Huisman, Zosia Mamet, Michelle Gomez, T.R. Knight, Colin Woodell, Merle Dandridge, Griffin Matthews and Nolan Gerard Funk.

The Flight Attendant is produced by Warner Bros Television, Berlanti Productions & Yes, Norman Productions.

HBO Max has made the series premiere episode of The Flight Attendant, starring the 56-year-old Puerto Rican actress and community activist, available to stream now for free ahead of its Thursday, November 26 premiere.

The comedic dark thriller starring and executive produced by Kaley Cuoco will debut with three episodes on Thanksgiving Day.

Following its debut on HBO Max, the series’ premiere episode will also air on HBO linear channel, On Demand, and on select partners’ streaming platforms starting on Friday, November 27 at 10:00 pm ET/PT during a Free Preview Weekend offered by participating partners, as well as on TBS at 10:30 pm ET/PT on Sunday, November 29 as part of an HBO Max-themed marathon over Thanksgiving weekend.

The limited series continues with two new episodes on December 3, followed by two new episodes on December 10, leading up to the finale episode on December 17.

Based on the novel by Chris Bohjalian, the series is a story of how an entire life can change in one night. A flight attendant (Cuoco) wakes up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a dead man – and no idea what happened.

In addition to Cuoco and Perez, the series also stars Michiel Huisman, Zosia Mamet, Michelle Gomez, T.R. Knight, Colin Woodell, Merle Dandridge, Griffin Matthews and Nolan Gerard Funk.

The Flight Attendant is produced by Warner Horizon Scripted Television, Berlanti Productions & Yes, Norman Productions.

HBO Max has set Thursday, November 26 for the premiere of The Flight Attendant, featuring the 56-year-old Puerto Rican actress and activist.

The series stars Kaley Cuoco, who also produced the project.

The streaming service also unveiled the key art, featuring Cuoco, with the tagline “A Deadly Mystery With A Turbulent Descent.”

The Flight Attendant is among shows whose production was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It resumed production in New York this fall after shutting down in March.

Arlen Escarpeta to Star in the Second Season of OWN’s Drama Series “David Makes Man”

The 39-year-old Belizean actor has been cast as a series regular for the second season of OWN’s acclaimed Peabody-winning drama series David Makes Man.

He’ll star alongside Kwame Patterson, who has been tapped to portray the title character, the adult version of David.

Escarpeta will play his brother JG, in the series which hails from Oscar winner Tarell Alvin McCraney and Warner Horizon Scripted Television

They join returning series regulars Akili McDowellAlana ArenasTravis Coles and Cayden K. Williams for season two.

Created by McCraney and executive produced by Oprah Winfrey, the first season ofDavid Makes Mancentered on David Young (McDowell), a 14-year-old prodigy learning to survive the streets that raised him and the higher education that could offer him a way out. Escarpeta’s television credits include series regular roles on Crackle’s The Oath and NBC’s American Dreams, and a recurring role in Syfy’s The Magicians,among others. He also starred as Bobby Brown in the Lifetime original film Whitney

Rigo Sanchez Upped to Series Regular on TNT’s “Animal Kingdom”

The Latino actor has been promoted to series regular for the fifth season of TNT’s Animal Kingdom.

In season 4, Sanchez’s Manny was the leader of a group of career criminals. He’s shrewd, ruthless, the brains of the operation and the “parent” of the crew. He appeared in 10 episodes. 

In season 5, the dynamics between Janine (Ellen Barkin), Manny (Sanchez), and Jake (Jon Beavers) are shifting as the crew comes back together and Janine decides she wants to operate out of a little town called Oceanside.

The drama, which is based on David Michod’s 2010 Australian feature film, is produced by John Wells Productionsin association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television. Wells serves as executive producer on the series, which was developed for television by Jonathan Lisco

Sanchez has been recurring on Station 19/Grey’s Anatomy for ABC and Briarpatch on USA. On the film side, he is one of the leads in the feature Beneath Usopposite James Tupper, which is being released on March 6. 

Season five of Animal Kingdom premieres later this year on TNT.

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network has added ten recurring and guest star cast members to the ensemble of its upcoming coming-of-age drama series David Makes Manincluding the Puerto Rican actress and playwright.

Set in South Florida, the lyrical drama, inspired by events in McCraney’s own life, explores the inherent trauma sustained in the fight for survival.

In addition to Colon-Zayas, who starred in The Purge: Election Year, other cast additions include Lela Rochon, Trace Lysette, Juanita Jennings, Lindsey BlackwellSolomon Valdez ([Bi]Polar), Teshi Thomas, and newcomers Nick Creegan, Kimaya Naomi and Logan Rozos.

Colon-Zayas plays Principal Fallow. She runs the magnet school that David, Seren and Marissa attend.

Valdezwill play Willie Derrick, an 11-year-old wanna-be dope dealer.

They join the previously announced series regular ensemble cast that includes Akili McDowell, Phylicia Rashad, Nathaniel Logan McIntyre, Isaiah Johnson, Ade Chike Torbert, Jordan Bolger, Cayden K. Williams, Travis Coles and Alana Arenas, along with guest stars Gillian Williams, Elvis Nolasco, and Ruben Santiago-Hudson.

The Dominican actor has joined the ensemble cast of OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network’s upcoming coming-of-age drama series David Makes Man, from Oscar-winning Moonlight co-writer Tarell Alvin McCraney.

David Makes Man centers on David, a 14-year-old prodigy from the projects who is haunted by the death of his closest friend and relied on by his hardworking mother to find a way out of poverty. He must choose between the streets that raised him or the higher education that may offer him a way out. Set in South Florida, the lyrical drama, inspired by events in McCraney’s own life, explores the inherent trauma sustained in the fight for survival.

In addition to Nolasco, who starred in ABC’s anthology series American Crime, cast additions include Alana Arenas, (L.A. Confidential, Chicago P.D.), while Gillian Williams (The Girlfriend Experience), Ruben Santiago-Hudson (The Quad, Billionsand Randy Gonzalez (Bloodline) are set for recurring roles.

They join previously announced cast Phylicia Rashad, Akili McDowell, Nathaniel Logan McIntyre, Isaiah Johnson, Ade Chike Torbert, Jordan Bolger, Cayden K. Williams and Travis Coles.

Directors joining the hour-long drama for Season 1 include Michael Francis Williams, Kiel Adrian Scott, Daina Reid and Cheryl Dunye.

The series, currently in production in Orlando, Florida, is set for a 2019 premiere on OWN.

Arenas will play Gloria, David’s young, hardworking, single mother who wants better for her children. A now-sober, former drug user, she worries that social services might take her sons away.

Williams will recur as Jessica Kelly, David’s former music teacher who is the mother of his best friend, Seren. Santiago-Hudson is Dr. Bree, a clinical psychiatrist who challenges David to examine the trauma of his past and his hopes for the future. Nolasco will play Tio-Teo, the uncle to David’s strained acquaintance, Raynan. He aims to expand his illegal prescription med operation . . . no matter what the cost. Gonzalez is Mr. Lopez, a teacher of remedial math who believes in David more than David believes in himself.
