AI’s Langone Lands Record Deal

It’s official! Former American Idol contestant Stefano Langone has landed a recording contract with Hollywood Records!

The 22-year-old half-Mexican singer—who placed seventh in American Idol’s tenth season, which saw part-Puerto Rican country singer Scotty McCreery take the title—becomes the latest Latino artist to sign with the label. Langone follows in the footsteps of Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato.

“I feel blessed to have gotten this opportunity with Hollywood Records,” Langone said in a statement. “I think it is a great fit for me and I’m so excited and hungry for what’s to come.”

Langone, who was Idol judge Jennifer Lopez’s favorite last season, is also the latest Idol alum to sign a recording contract.

McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina are both signed to Universal Music Group’s Mercury Nashville. Pia Toscano and Haley Reinhart are signed to Interscope. James Durbin released his debut album on Wind-Up Records. And, most recently, Casey Abrams signed with jazz label Concord Music Group.

Langone, who was wheelchair-bound for months after being involved in a near-fatal car crash in 2009, tweeted on the day the contract went public, “Today is a good day.”
