Becky G, who has appeared on television in Play It Forward and Empire, will take on the role of the Yellow Ranger.

She joins Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger, Ludi Lin as Black Ranger, R.J. Cyler as Blue Ranger and Naomi Scott as Pink Ranger.

Dean Israelite is directing the first in what the studio and Saban hopes will be a franchise based on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series, which mixed a group of young actors with climactic action footage culled from the Japanese television show Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger.

The film has a January 12, 2017, release date.
