The part-Latina actress has booked a series regular role in ABC’s untitled Bobby Bowman pilot.

Gonzaga is set as a narrator in the pilot, portraying an older version of the titular daughter character Lola.

This will be the second series Gonzaga has narrated for ABC, after previously lending her voice to the comedy Mixology, where she was a regular.

Gonzaga, who recently landed a recurring role on Showtime’s “Kidding,” can be seen on NBC’s Champions and in the upcoming season of HBO’s Room 104 opposite Bryan Tyree Henry.

Guillermo del Toro is expanding his partnership with Netflix…

The 53-year-old Mexican filmmaker, the creator of Netflix’s Emmy-winning DreamWorks Trollhunters, is creating a live-action program on the Netflix.

The online streaming service has ordered Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight, its first original horror anthology series.

The series is described as a collection of the Oscar-winning filmmaker’s personally curated stories, described as both equally sophisticated and horrific.

The Shape of Water writer-director created the series and will write and direct certain episodes. In addition, he’ll handpick a team of top horror writers and new filmmakers to bring his selection of stories to life.

Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight is a Netflix production. The project extends del Toro and Netflix’s collaboration that began with the animated series DreamWorks Trollhunters, which returns May 25 for the third and final season. The Emmy-winning Trollhunters is the first installment of a trilogy dubbed DreamWorks’ Tales of Arcadia. The next chapter, 3 Below, debuts later this year followed by Wizards in 2019.

Del Toro’s The Shape of Water, which earned four Oscars this year, including Best Picture, Best Director for del Toro, Best Original Score and Best Production Design.

His previous films alternate between Spanish-language dark fantasy pieces, such as The Devil’s Backbone (2001), and triple Oscar winner Pan’s Labyrinth (2006), and American studio movies such as the vampire superhero action pic Blade II (2002), the supernatural adventures Hellboy (2004) and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) and the sci-fi monsters-versus-robots film Pacific Rim (2013).

USA Titles Gina Torres’ Suits Spinoff “Second City”

The USA Network’s upcoming Suits spinoff, starring the 49-year-old Cuban American actress, now has a title — Second City.

The offshoot of the long-running legal drama centers on Torres’ popular character, powerhouse lawyer Jessica Pearson, as she enters the dirty world of Chicago politics.

Torres announced the title of the show at NBCU’s upfront in Manhattan, while introducing footage from the recent Suits season finale, which served as a pilot for the new series.

Suits and Second City will co-exist as the mothership series recently was renewed for an eighth season without two of its original stars, Patrick J. Adams and future British royal Meghan Markle. Returning cast members Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman and Sarah Rafferty will be joined by Dulé Hill, who is being promoted to a series regular after recurring this season, and new addition Katherine Heigl.

The backdoor pilot was written by Suits creator and executive producer Aaron Korsh and executive producer Daniel Arkin, and was directed by Suits alum Anton Cropper.

The new series, which hails from Universal Cable Prods., is executive produced by Korsh, showrunner Arkin, Torres and Suits executive producers Doug Liman, David Bartis and Gene Klein of Hypnotic.

Netflix Renews Ignacio Serricchio’s “Lost In Space” for Second Season

A month after Lost In Space‘s premiere, Netflic has renewed the sci-fi series, starring the 36-year-old Argentine actor, for a second season.

The pickup comes after a strong launch for the show. According to data released by Nielsen, Lost In Space garnered 3.16 million viewers overall on its first day of release, Netflix’s third best premiere-day viewership in the past year behind Season 2 of Stranger Things and movie Bright. 

In addition to Serricchio, who portrays Don West, Lost In Space, from Legendary Television, also stars Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, Maxwell Jenkins, Mina Sundwall, Taylor Russell and Parker Posey.

A modern reimagining of the 1960s classic created by Irwin Allen, Lost in Space is set 30 years in the future where colonization in space has become a reality. The epic series follows the Robinson family, one of the families selected to make a new life for themselves in a better world. But when the new colonists find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment, lightyears from their original destination.

Miguel to Release Spanish-Language Version of HIs Album “War & Leisure”

The 32-year-old half-Mexican-American singer has officially confirmed that he’s working on a full-length Spanish album.

During a taping of LA’s PowerHouse Concert, run by Power 106‘s The Cruz Show, Miguel revealed that he’ll be releasing a Spanish version of his 2017 album War & Leisure.

“We got more Spanish music coming; we got festivals,” he said in a video posted to Twitter. “We got a Spanish album – War & Leisure, a version in Spanish coming out.”

“I want to be able to write an entire song in Spanish,” he continued. “but I’m practicing my Spanish now just so I can get it.”

The 71-year-old Mexican ranchera singer, whose real name is Francisca Viveros Barradas, will be at the center of Univision’s next biographical musical series, according to the network.

The series Paquita la del Barrio is “the fictionalized life story of the beloved Mexican singer,” according to Univision.

The Grammy-nominated singer, who earlier this year attended the launch of the series in Mexico, said the story of her life is hard to watch because there’s been so much heartache, but she was pleased that her story was being told. She even hinted at writing a book.

Paquita is known for singing about broken hearts and cheating men.

Antonio Banderas Circling Steven Soderbergh’s Panama Papers Drama “The Laundromat”

Antonio Banderas may be on paper duty soon…

The 57-year-old Spanish actor is reportedly circling The Laundromat, a Steven Soderbergh-directed drama about the Panama Papers scandal.

The film, written by Scott Z. Burns, is based on the Jake Bernstein book Secrecy World: Inside the Panama Papers Investigation of Illicit Money Networks and the Global Elite.

Banderas isn’t the only high-profile actor circling the project. Gary Oldman and Meryl Streep are reportedly interested as well.

Netflix is among those considering the project, which is produced by Burns, Lawrence Grey, Soderbergh, Michael Sugar and First Look Media’s Topic Studios.

Netflix previously set a movie on the scandal by German journalists Frederik Obermaier and Bastian Obermayer, who broke the story and wrote the book Panama Papers: Breaking the Story of How the World’s Rich and Powerful Hide Their Money. John Wells is producing that film.

The drama is the story of the revelations of reams of documents leaked from Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca in April by an anonymous whistleblower that bared embarrassing details on investments and money trails from politicians the world over, meant to evade taxes.

The 44-year-old half-Puerto Rican singer and his fellow Backstreet Boys group mates are set to release a new single this week.

Following a three-day social media countdown, the Backstreet Boys have announced plans to release “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”  on Thursday as a follow-up to their 2013 album In a World Like This.

On Friday, BSB took to Twitter to post a silhouette photo of their likenesses, accompanied by the caption “Ready…” Over the following days, they took to the platform with behind-the-scenes footage using the captions “Set…” and “Don’t Go…”

Finally, on Monday, the band gave fans what they’d been waiting for by sharing the cover art for their upcoming single.

While the Backstreet Boys look super serious in the photo, the accompanying caption showed off their dad-like sense of humor by alluding to their 1997 hit single “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back). “Excuse the dad joke but…we’re back,” they tweeted with a winky face emoji.

The Orchard Picks Up North American Rights to Ciro Guerra & Cristina Gallego’s “Birds of Passage”

Ciro Guerra’s latest film is migrating to the United States…

The Orchard has picked up North American rights to the 37-year-old Colombian filmmaker and screenwriter’s latest film Birds of Passage, co-directed by Cristina Gallego.

The family saga details the impact of drug trafficking on an indigenous family and its culture starting in the 1970s.

“This film was always conceived as a theatrical experience, and there’s really no better way to appreciate it than in the cinema,” said co-directors Gallego, Guerra and producer Katrin Pors. “We are very happy that audiences will have the opportunity to see it the way it was intended, and that we have found a passionate distributor that loves and defends the art of cinema as much as we do.”

“Birds of Passage swept us up immediately into an engrossing familial drama surrounded by a world bursting with stunning color and sound,” added Paul Davidson, The Orchard’s EVP of Film and Television. “Cristina and Ciro have delivered something altogether special and unique that we are honored to be a part of.”

The company has yet to set a theatrical release for the film.

Guerra previously produced and directed Embrace of the Serpent, the first Colombian film ever to be nominated for an Academy Award.

CBS Renews Adam Rodriguez’s “Criminal Minds” for a 14th Season

CBS has renewed its veteran drama Criminal Minds, starring the 43-year-old Puerto Rican and Cuban American actor, for a 14th season.

After a long run at 9:00 pm, Criminal Minds moved to 10:00 pm this season. It has improved the time period and is doing well in delayed viewing.

The crime drama ended its 13th season on a cliffhanger, reportedly with the blessing of CBS. A cancellation would’ve robbed the show’s loyal fans of a proper ending and would’ve deprived the series of hitting the 300th episode milestone, ending its run with 299.

Now Criminal Minds‘ Season 14 premiere will also mark the show’s 300th episode, giving it an extra promotional push.

Criminal Minds revolves around an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country’s most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next moves before they strike again. Joe Mantegna stars as David Rossi, along with Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss, Matthew Gray Gubler as Dr. Spencer Reid, A.J. Cook as Jennifer “JJ” Jareau, Aisha Tyler as Dr. Tara Lewis, Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia, Rodriguez as Luke Alvez and Daniel Henney as Matt Simmons.
