Gepe Releases Music Video for New Single “Hablar de ti”

The 35-year-old Chilean singer-songwriter, whose real name is Daniel Alejandro Riveros Sepúlveda, has released his new music video “Hablar de ti,” premiering the clip exclusively on Billboard.

The clip for the feel-good single was directed by Chilean film director Dominga Sotomayor, who previously collaborated with Gepe on his music video “Punto Final.”

“Hablar de ti” is the first single from Gepe’s forthcoming album Ciencia Exacta, which is due May 26. He’s also part of this year’s three-day Ruido Fest lineup in Chicago. He’ll be kicking off the third annual Latin alternative fest July 7 along with headliners Bomba Estéreo and Cultura Profética.

The 32-year-old Puerto Rican actress and Jane the Virgin star has officially signed on to star in Sony PicturesCatherine Hardwicke-directed drama Miss Bala, a remake of the Mexican entry for the Best Foreign Film Oscar in 2011. Rodriguez was considered a frontrunner for the role.

Rodriguez stars Gloria Meyer who, after her friend Suzu goes missing in Tijuana, finds herself a pawn in a dangerous game being played by the CIA, the DEA and a charismatic young crime boss.

Cordova will play Lino, a master manipulator and highly charismatic survivor who has gotten as far as he has through ballsy plays for power.

Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer is on board to adapt the script, which was written by original director Gerard Naranjo and Mauricio Katz.

Rodriguez recently wrapped the third season to her hit CW telenovela Jane the Virgin, which is set to return for a fourth. The Golden Globe winner is set to lend her voice to Netflix’s cartoon reboot Carman Sandiego, and will next be heard in Fox’s children’s story adaption Ferdinand and Sony’s animated Christmas film The Star, both slated for release this year.

Cordova’s credits include Ang Lee’s war drama Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk and recurring roles on Season 4 of Showtime’s Ray Donovan as well as ABC’s The Catch.

Jessica Meraz to Star on the Upcoming Season of TNT’s “Major Crimes”

The half-Mexican American actress has been cast as a series regular on the upcoming sixth season of TNT’s hit drama series Major Crimes from Warner Bros. TV.

Meraz will play Det. Camila Paige, who’s still recovering financially from having to raise all five of her younger siblings after the death of her parents in a car accident almost fifteen years ago. A favorite of Chief Mason (Leonard Roberts), she made a name for herself inside Criminal Intelligence before her transfer to Missing Persons. She has a personal relationship with Lt. Provenza (G.W. Bailey) from before her time on the LAPD.

Meanwhile, Lourdes Benedicto has landed a recurring role on the series.

The 42-year-old part-Spanish American actress will recur as Sara Garza, the wife of a prominent surgeon, his office manager, and mother to their missing fifteen-year-old son who tries to maintain her sanity in the face of kidnapping, murder and her husband’s health problems.

Meraz and Benedicto join an ensemble cast that includes Mary McDonnell, Tony Denison, Michael Paul Chan, Phillip P. Keene and Raymond Cruz.

Meraz played Natalie Ortiz on Freeform’s Chasing Life and also appeared on Baby Daddy.

Benedicto’s recent credits include Pure Genius and NCIS.

Nicky Jam Announces El Ganador U.S. Tour Dates

The 36-year-old Puerto Rican and Dominican American singer-songwriter has announced the dates for his El Ganador U.S. tour.

Nicky Jam’s concert tour, which will feature reggaeton duo Plan B as an opening act, includes 12 cities so far, starting August 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and continuing in Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, New York and Miami, among others.

Nicky Jam has already taken his El Ganador tour to Europe, where he visited twelve different cities and performed for more than 65,000 people.

Last month, Nicky Jam was the top winner at the 2017 Billboard Latin Music Awards with six trophies.

This week, his single “El Amante” climbed 3-2 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart, reaching a new peak on the chart.

Tickets for Nicky Jam’s U.S. tour will be available on Friday 19th May at 10:00 am ET. The tour is presented by CMN.

Residente Announces Summer North American Tour

Residente is taking his show on the road…

The 39-year-old Puerto Rican rapper will kick off his summer world tour in Mexico City on June 17. He’ll then visit the U.S. in August for a coast-to-coast trek.

Residente, the winner of 24 Latin Grammys, announced the dates on Monday for the North American leg of the tour, which includes stops in New York (Aug. 10), Los Angeles (Aug. 19) and Miami (Aug. 31).

The tour follows Residente’s self-titled debut album, which was released March 31 and peaked at No. 1 on BillboardWorld Albums and Latin Album Sales charts (dated April 22).

The 39-year-old Puerto Rican singer and 40-year-old Puerto Rican rapper’s hit single “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber, crowns the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated May 27, rising 3-1.

Among highlights for the new leader, it’s the first mostly Spanish-language Hot 100 No. 1 in more than 20 years.

Fonsi and Daddy Yankee each earn their first Hot 100 No. 1 with “Despacito,” released on Universal Music Latino / Raymond Braun / SchoolBoy / Def Jam / UMLE / Republic Records.

“Despacito” scores its first week at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart with 54.3 million U.S. streams, up 14 percent, in the week ending May 11, according to Nielsen Music. It also leads the Digital Song Sales chart, rebounding 2-1 for a second week on top, with 104,000 downloads sold, up 4 percent, in the week ending May 11; the remix with Bieber, released April 17, accounts for 73 percent of the song’s sales in the tracking week. On Radio Songs, “Despacito” darts 18-11 with 57 million in all-format airplay audience, up 17 percent, in the week ending May 14.

It’s Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s first Digital Song Sales No. 1 and first Streaming Songs No. 1.

“Despacito” is the first Hot 100 No. 1 sung mostly in Spanish since Los Del Rio‘s “Macarena,” which, fueled by its Bayside Boys mix, dominated for 14 weeks in 1996. It also went on to become the biggest song of all of 1996 on that year’s year-end Hot 100.

“Despacito” tops the Hot Latin Songs chart for a 15th week. It’s Fonsi’s seventh and Daddy Yankee’s fifth. And, with 15 weeks on top, the track is tied for the 10th-longest No. 1 run in the chart’s 30-year history.

Fox Television Stations has expanded its summer lineup with the 58-year-old Cuban lawyer and television arbitrator on Caso Cerrado’s own series getting the greenlight.

Polo’s Ana Polo Rules is a new arbitration show featuring the star of the wildly popular Caso Cerrado, currently on Telemundo.

As the only television judge with a court show simultaneously in both English and Spanish language TV, Judge Polo will settle small claims cases and family disputes.

Ana Polo will be broadcast on select Fox-owned stations for a three week preview beginning in on August 7

The half-hour program will be produced by Cinemat in Miami.

Adriana Lima to Host New Competition Series “American Beauty Star”

A+E Networks and Herrick Entertainment are joining forces on a new competition series, American Beauty Star, hosted by the 35-year-old Brazilian model, actress and Victoria’s Secret Angel, to air on Lifetime.

The series brings together 12 celebrity stylists and salon professionals to compete in a series of challenges, from creating high-end editorial looks to the most current glam creations for red carpets and runway shows. At the end of the season, only one contestant will be named American Beauty Star.

Celebrity stylist Sir John will mentor the contestants while former longtime Vogue Beauty director Sarah Brown will serve as a judge, alongside celebrity guests and beauty industry influencers.

Production begins in Los Angeles this June on 10 hourlong episodes.

ABC Picks Up Nicholas Gonzalez’s Medical Drama “The Good Doctor” to Series

ABC has picked up the Sony Television pilot The Good Doctor, starring the 41-year-old Mexican American actor, to series.

The medical drama, which hails from House creator David Shore, who wrote and executive produces, stars Freddie Highmore.

The Good Doctor centers on Shaun Murphy (Highmore), a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome who relocates from a quiet country life to join a prestigious hospital’s surgical unit. Alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, Shaun uses his extraordinary medical gifts to save lives and challenge the skepticism of his colleagues.

In addition to Highmore and Gonzalez, who portrays Dr. Neal Melendez, the series also stars Antonia Thomas as Dr. Claire Brown, Chuku Modu as Dr. Jared Kalu, Irene Keng as Dr. Sarah Chen, Beau Garrett as Jessica Preston, Hill Harper as Dr. Marcus Andrews and Richard Schiff as Dr. Aaron Glassman
