Lin-Manuel Miranda to Present at This Year’s Emmy Awards Show

The Television Academy has announced the third and final group of presenters for the 71st Emmy Awards on Sunday, with the 39-year-old Puerto Rican actor, composer and Broadway star making the list.

In addition to Miranda, an Emmy winner, the newly revealed list of presenters includes Tim Allen, Nick Cannon, James Corden, Jon Hamm, Timothy Hutton, Jharell Jerone, Ken Jeong, Cherry Jones, Regina King, Luke Kirby, Hugh Laurie, Jane Lynch, Catherine O’Hara, Randall Park, Jimmy Smits, Brittany Snow, Marisa Tomei, Kerry Washington and Bradley Whitford.

Additionally, pop star Halsey will perform a rendition of a classic song for the In Memoriam tribute, Adam Devine will present a musical tribute to Variety programming, and Thomas Lennon has been tapped as an Emmy Awards commentator, according to the Academy.

The 71st Emmyss, produced by Don Mischer Productions and Done+Dusted, will air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Los Angeles on Sunday, September 22 from 8-11 PM ET/5-8 PM PT on Fox.

It’ll be presented without a host for the fourth time in its history. Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier said that it wanted to save time to salute a number of shows including Game of Thrones, Empire, Veep and The Big Bang Theory.

“Our job is to assess as to how to elevate the program in the year that we have it. If you have a host and an opening, that’s 15 or 20 minutes you can’t have to salute the shows,” he said.

The single takes Don Omar (real name William Landron) back to his musical roots. On the track, he slows down the beat and brings a ’90s reggaeton sound.

Earlier this year, Don Omar spoke to Billboard about working on new music while on break after his Kingdom Tourwith Daddy Yankee. “Vacilón” is Omar’s first track since 2016.

The new video sees a group of people enjoying the song at a party with Omar, and includes different emojis and video game characters.

Aubrey Plaza to Star in Netflix’s Film “Hope”

The 35-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress/comedian and former Parks and Recreation star will topline the Netflix movie Hopedirected by New Zealand duo Jackie van Beek and Madeleine Sami.

Hope, whose plotline is under wraps, marks the second feature to be directed by van Beek and Sami following their female-driven comedy The Breaker Upperers, which they also co-wrote and starred in. That film, which was produced by Taika Waititi’s company Piki Films, premiered on Netflix in February. The Breaker Upperers made its world premiere at SXSW in March 2018.

Plaza recently wrapped production on the movie, Black Bear, a suspenseful meta-drama, which she is producing and starring in opposite Christopher Abbott and Sarah Gadon. She also finished up the last season of Noah Hawley’s Marvel series Legion on FX and starred in this summer’s Child’s Play from Orion Pictures

Plaza won a 2018 Film Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature for Ingrid Goes Westwhich she also starred in and produced. 

Gina Rodriguez & Cast Share Snaps from Last Day of Filming Final Episode of “Jane The Virgin”

It’s the end of an era for Gina Rodriguez

The 34-year-old Puerto Rican actress and her Jane the Virgin cast mates have just filmed the final episode of the acclaimed CW series, which earned Rodriguez a Golden Globe.

The final day, according to the cast, was emotional, heartwarming and filled with tears.

The cast took to Instagram with stories and photos detailing their last days on set. Rodriguez posted a photo in her IGstories of a tearful embrace between her and showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman

“This is my dream maker,” she wrote. “Her hair is pink and her brain is big and brilliant. Thank you for making me your Jane.”

She also posted a loving photo of her and Elias Janssen with the caption: “Jane and Mateo. My first on screen baby boy. Love you buddy. Por vida #lastDaysofJane”

The series finale is set to air this summer.

Ana de Armas to Star in Bond 25 Film

There’s a special Bondin Ana de Armas’ future…

The producers of Bond 25 have revealed key cast and production details from Jamaica, the iconic location for previous Bond films including Dr. No and Live and Let Die.

Broadcasting live on Twitter, the production confirmed incoming cast including the 30-year-old Spanish/Cuban actress.

de Armas previously starred in another high-profile film, Blade Runner 2049, which earned her a Saturn Awardnomination for Best Supporting Actress.

In addition to de Armas, other cast members include Rami MalekLashana LynchBilly MagnussenDavid Dencik, and Dali Benssalah

Returning franchise cast members include Ralph FiennesLea Seydoux,Naomie HarrisJeffrey WrightRory Kinnearand Ben WhishawDaniel Craig returns as James Bond.

A title wasn’t revealed but producer Barbara Broccolisaid the film will start in Jamaica where “Bond is not on active service, he is enjoying himself. We’ve got quite a ride in store for him.” His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from theCIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

The production has already shot in Norway and will head over to the UK’s Pinewood studio then onto Matera in Italy. The movie will be the first Bond to use IMAXcameras.

Cary Joji Fukunagais writer-director.  Malek is expected to portray the film’s villain. 

The film recently had a release date change from February 14 2020 to April 8 2020. Additional writers on the script were today confirmed as Neil PurvisRobert WadeScott Z Burnsand Fleabag‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

MGM will release the film domestically through their United Artists Releasingbanner on April 8. It will go through Universal Pictures International and MGM in the UK and internationally from April 3, 2020.

Trailer Released for Selena Gomez’s Zombie Film “The Dead Don’t Die”

The trailer for Jim Jarmusch‘s zombie film The Dead Don’t Die, starring the 26-year-old Mexican American singer, has been released.

Gomez, who appears in the clip, plays a human in the film, which also features Iggy Popas aterrifying, blood-chugging, decomposing zombie.

Jarmusch’s dark and grisly comedy, which he wrote and directed, also stars Rosie PerezRZATom Waits, Adam DriverBill MurrayTilda SwintonChloë Sevigny ,Steve Buscemi and Danny Glover.

J Balvin Releases New Sean Paul Collaboration, “Contra La Pared”

The 33-year-old Colombian reggaeton singer has joined voices with Sean Paul for their latest collaboration, “Contra La Pared.”

J Balvin released the infectious new tune on Thursday, with the music video released a day later.

In a behind-the-scenes clip for the upcoming video posted by Entertainment Tonight, the duo find themselves in at Utah’s Lake Powell among cars, helicopters and a slew of dancers.

“Working with artists like Sean and J Balvin, these are the kind of artists that I like to work with because they actually do things that are different and they are not afraid to take planes, trains and automobiles to get out to a place like this,” director Andy Hines says in the behind-the-scenes. “[This] is a location where no one has really shot here before. I’m super excited already and I can’t wait to share.”

The duo collaborated previously on Major Lazer’s 2017 track “Buscando Huellas.” 

Daddy Yankee Among This Year’s 24 Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame Nominees

The Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame (LSHOF) has announced the 24 songwriters and composers nominated this year for induction into the esteemed hall, with the 42-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton superstar making the list.

Celebrating some of the greatest Latin performers, lyricists and musicians, this year’s diverse list of nominees also includes romantic crooner Pablo Milanes, salsa icon Ruben Blades, rapper Ivy Queen, and Selena’s singer-songwriter brother A.B. Quintanilla.

New LSHOF President, Delia Orjuela, emphasized in a statement that “being inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall Of Fame at the La Musa Awardsis one of the highest honors a songwriter can receive.” She added, “It is a remarkable event where the entire industry comes together and recognizes the life’s work of Latino songwriters and composers who have enriched and inspired generations with their invaluable musical gems.”

Only six of the 24 nominees will be selected for induction into the Hall of Fame, who will be honored at the 7th Annual La Musa Awards on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at the James L. Knight Centerin Miami.

Voting is open to the public and will run until midnight April 15. The 2019 inductees will be revealed at noon on Monday, May 6. You can vote for your favorite composer here.

Prince Royce Appears in Major League Soccer’s New “Our Soccer” Campaign

Major League Soccer has revealed its newest campaign titled Our Soccer, featuring the 29-year-old Dominican American bachat asinger.

The campaign — produced by The FADER and Cornerstone, MLS’ creative agency of record, and directed by Clayton Vomero— expresses the unique experience of being an MLS fan and the growth of the soccer movement in North America.

“The ‘Our Soccer’ campaign captures the unique spirit, confident attitude and diverse environment that embodies MLS,” said David Bruce, MLS vp/brand and integrated marketing in a statement.

The spot, voiced by Prince Royce in Spanish and English, features him wearing Inter Miami CF gear, the MLS expansion club co-owned by cultural icon David Beckham, while at a party watching a soccer game alongside producer and DJ TOKiMONSTA, who wears a Los Angeles Football Clubjersey.

Prince Royce said, “I think it’s one of the sports that has the most passion. You see so many cultures, languages — that’s the great thing about music and the great thing about soccer.”
