The Frida actress will receive a formal induction at the Élysées Palace within the next couple of months, according to People.com.
Called the Legion of Honor, the merit award dates back to 1802 when it was founded by Napoleon. It is bestowed upon military personnel and civilians for service to France, but isn’t reserved exclusively for the French. Previous honorees include Clint Eastwood, Robert De Niro, Jerry Lewis and Robert Redford.
