J Balvin to be the First-Ever Latin Music Headliner at Lollapalooza

The 33-year-old Colombian superstar has been named as one of the headliners for this year’s Lollapalooza, making him the first-ever Latin-music headliner in the music festival’s nearly 30-year history.

J Balvin is among eight headliners announced for the annual Chicago festival, including Ariana GrandeChildish BambinoTwenty One Pilotsand The Chainsmokers.

Never before has a Latin music artist appeared nearly as high on the festival’s official poster as J Balvin appears on this year’s edition, where he’s listed above American stars like Lil WayneKacey Musgraves ,Janelle Monaeand Meek Mill.

J Balvin has earned his place as a headliner with his U.S. hits “Mi Gente” with Willy William and “I Like It” with Cardi Band Bad Bunny, as well as his strong back catalog of Latin hits like “Ginza,” “6 AM,” and “X.” And by appearing as a top act this year, it’s a significant moment for the proliferation and inclusion of Latin music within the American mainstream. 

The full lineup for this summer’s Lollapalooza features a huge assortment of rock, pop, hip-hop, EDM and country stars, and several Latin musicians, including Spanish rising star Rosalia, who will be making her first appearance at the festival.

Other Latin acts include DeorroSonia de los Santos, 1 2 3 Andres, and Malu Travejo.

The festival will take over the historic Grant Parkon Chicago’s lakefront from August 1-4.

This summer’s Lollapalooza will host more than 170 bands on eight stages, with 4-day general admission, GA+, VIP and Platinum passes available now; One-day tickets will be offered at a later date. Children 10 and under are free with every ticket-holding adult.
