Leto is on the list of possible candidates to play Stephen Strange, according to Badass Digest.

Unlike many other superheroes who gained their powers from super serum, gamma radiations or their alien roots, Strange got his from mystical origins. The arrogant and selfish surgeon seeks a conventional healing in Tibet after his hands were damaged in a car accident. He becomes a Sorcerer Supreme a.k.a. Marvel Universe’s greatest protector against magical peril.

The character recently got a shout-out in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Johnny Depp was previously linked to portray the former surgeon in the comic book adaptation.

Leto earned an Academy Award forhis critically acclaimed portrayal of a transgender woman in Dallas Buyers Club.

Leto recently said, “I’m looking at scripts and reading scripts,” when discussing his first post-Oscar project.

“[It’s] interesting because I didn’t read scripts for years before Dallas Buyers Club,” he told the Associated Press. “But now you have opportunities to work with people that you really respect or admire, people whose work has been inspiring and influential.”

The lead singer of 30 Seconds to Mars also talked about his interest to follow the likes of Ben Affleck who moved from acting to directing, “I think that would be really great. And when I have the right story to tell I’ll certainly do that.”

Leto Pays Tribute to Those Who Died in Last Month’s Ukrainian Revolution

Jared Leto is raising awareness for the political crisis in the Ukraine…

The 42-year-old part-Spanish American actor/rock star, who mentioned the plight of the people in the Ukraine in his Oscars acceptance speech, visited Kiev to pay his respects to those who died in last month’s Ukrainian revolution — and perform with his band 30 Seconds to Mars.

After mentioning his mother and brother in his emotional speech on March 2 when he won the best supporting actor prize for Dallas Buyers Club, Leto acknowledged, “all the dreamers out there around the world… in places like Ukraine and Venezuela … as you struggle to make your dreams happens and live the impossible, we are thinking of you.”

He repeated those sentiments in Kiev when he performed Wednesday before a live audience the night before visiting Kiev’s Maiden Square, where as many as 100 people — most of them anti-government protestors — died last month in clashes with police and security forces.

On Thursday, Leto mingled with the crowds, stopping at some of the dozens of flower-strewn shrines that have been erected on the spots where protestors died, many of them killed by sniper fire.

The previous evening, when he played to an enthusiastic crowd, Leto  said: “You guys are in the midst of something really beautiful and it may be difficult, but there’s no price too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.”

He added:  “And I want to let you know, I understand other bands have canceled their shows, but there was no f—ing way, no f—ing way, 30 Seconds to Mars wasn’t going to be here in this beautiful city, in this great country here tonight.”

Footage of his comment, filmed by a member of the audience, was later posted on YouTube.

The band will co-headline several summer dates with Linkin Park and special guest act AFI, it was announced at a press conference in Hollywood on Tuesday, just days after Leto took home the Academy Award for best supporting actor.

The 25-date tour kicks off on August 8 in West Palm Beach, Florida, with stops in Tampa, Montreal, Chicago, Houston and Denver, among other North American cities. Carnivores stops at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on September 15 and wraps up on September 19 in Concord, California.

Live Nation announced that tickets will go on sale Friday. A minute-long trailer for the tour features a British narrator and assorted live scenes, paired with some of the bands’ more anthemic hits, including Linkin Park’s “Numb” and 30 Seconds to Mars’ “The Kill (Bury Me).”

Before the summer road trip with Linkin Park, 30 Seconds to Mars will be heading out on a global tour that includes a concert in the Ukraine on March 12, after Leto referred to the conflicts there in his Oscar acceptance speech.

“To all the dreamers out there around the world watching this tonight, in places like the Ukraine and Venezuela, I want to say, we are here, and as you struggle to make your dreams happen, to live the impossible, we’re thinking of you tonight,” he said after collecting his statuette.

The tribute was missing from the delayed broadcast that aired on Russian television, but state-run television network Channel One said that it wasn’t responsible for cutting Leto’s speech.
