Lopez Developing New Drama Series for ABC Family

Jennifer Lopez could soon be joining the family… The ABC Family, that is…

The 42-year-old Puerto Rican actress, singer and American Idol judge is developing a new hour-long drama series for the network, according to Deadline.com.

Lopez, who launched Q’Viva! The Chosen with estranged husband Marc Anthony, will executive produce the project with with Simon Fields and Greg Gugliotta.

The still-untitled project centers on a lesbian couple, one is a police officer and the other is a private school teacher. The pair has one biological son and adopted teen twins, a boy and a girl. They later find “their already child-heavy household turned upside down when a wayward teenage girl moves in.”

ABC Family is reportedly fast tracking the project, but hasn’t picked it up to series yet.

The stork has arrived at Majandra Delfino’s home…

The 31-year-old Venezuelan actress gave birth to daughter Cecilia Delphine Walton, on Thursday, June 14 in Los Angeles.

It’s the first child for Delfino and her husband David Walton.

“We’re in love with her and are having a lot of fun with our new family member,” the couple tell People of their bundle of joy, who weighed in at 9 lbs., 3 oz.

Walton, 33, and former Roswell star Delfino, who tied the knot in March 2011 in Miami, announced the pregnancy in January.

Delfino most recently starred in ABC Family’s State of Georgia, while Walton appeared opposite Amanda Peet on the NBC sitcom Bent.

Lopez Filling His Resume with Producing Credits

The 38-year-old Mexican American actor and Extra host has lined up a number of series projects as a producer.

Lopez, the host of MTV’s dance completion American’s Best Dance Crew, has a 10-episode commitment at MTV Tr3s for Golden Boys, a docu-series following some of the world’s top young Latino boxers. Lopez is executive producing with boxing star Oscar De La Hoya.

Lopez also has a series commitment for Conversations with Mario at Comcast’s Latin-driven channel NuVo. The series takes an in-depth look at some of the most influential Latino celebrities in the world.

At ABC Family, Lopez is the man behind Back To Badass, a pilot for a reality series that aims to take former star athletes back to the top of their game.

Lopez’s latest projects are in addition to the upcoming Mario Lopez And Courtney Mazza Wedding Special, a two-hour special for TLC chronicling the preparations leading to Lopez and Mazza’s December wedding.

In addition, Lopez is working in post on an untitled boxing documentary he’s producing and appearing in, along with Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson, De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, Christian Bale, Mark Wahlberg, Denzel Washington and others. And, Lopez’s Los Angeles radio show, On With Mario Lopez, has just gone national.

Ortega to Helm an Episode of “Bunheads”

He’s the mastermind behind the iconic choreography in Dirty Dancing… And, he directed High School Musical’s Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens to stardom… And, now Kenny Ortega is preparing to tackle the world of ballet…

The 61-year-old Latin-American director, choreographer and producer has been tapped to direct the third episode of Amy Sherman-Palladino‘s new ABC Family ballet drama Bunheads, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bunheads centers on a Las Vegas showgirl who impulsively marries a man, moves with him to a sleepy coastal town and takes an uneasy role at her mother-in-law’s dance school. Sutton Foster, Kaitlyn Jenkins, Julia Telles, Bailey Buntain and Emma Dumont star in the hour-long drama. Gilmore Girls alum Kelly Bishop guest stars.

Ortega had previously directed several episodes of Sherman-Palladino’s iconic WB series Gilmore Girls.

Production on Bunheads began last week in Los Angeles, with the series set to premiere on Monday, June 11 at 9:00 pm EST.

Meanwhile, Ortega’s episode is slated to air June 25.

Boneta to Receive CinemaCon’s Rising Star Award

There’s no denying that Diego Boneta’s star is on the rise in Hollywood…

The 21-year-old Mexican actor—who will be starring in the highly anticipated Rock of Ages this summer—will receive CinemaCon’s Rising Star of 2012 Award at the upcoming convention of theater owners in Las Vegas, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Boneta, who rose to acclaim in Spanish-language television by playing Rocco in the hit Mexican telenovela Rebelde, has appeared on American shows like ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars and the CW’s 90210.

The talented actor-singer will play the lead role of aspiring rocker Drew Boley in Rock of Ages from Hairspray director Adam Shankman.

“How exciting to think that Diego Boneta’s first film role will see him share the screen with the likes of Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Alec Baldwin,” CinemaCon general managing director Mitch Neuhauser said while announcing Boneta’s award, which will be presented at the final night gala dinner.

Boneta has also been cast in MTV‘s upcoming new series Underemployed.

Ramirez to Star on The Secret Life of the American Teenager

The 16-year-old actress, who will be turning 17 tomorrow (March 9), has joined the cast of ABC Family’s drama series The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Ramirez—who will star opposite Eva Mendes in the feature film Girl in Progress— will play Kathy, a new freshman who Amy (Shailene Woodley) has been asked to mentor. Kathy, who is six-months pregnant, lives with her grandmother.

Ramirez has previously starred on the Disney Channel’s The Suite Life Of Zach And Cody, as well as guest-starred on CSI: Miami and Desperate Housewives.

She’s currently filming her first episode of Secret Life, which is the series’ 100th.

Delfino Cast in ABC Comedy Pilot Starring Mandy Moore…

The 31-year-old half-Cuban/half-Venezuelan actress/singer, who is expecting her first child with husband David Walton, has been cast in ABC’s untitled comedy pilot starring singer/actress Mandy Moore.

Moore will play a newlywed in the single-camera project who “gets the opportunity of a lifetime to run a hip, new restaurant” in her hometown. At the same time, this new “opportunity” brings her closer to her “needy and high maintenance family.”

Delfino, who most recently starred opposite Raven-Symoné on the short-lived ABC Family series State of Georgia, will play one of Annie’s sisters, who is divorced and living at home.
