And it appears Canto’s latest project Hysteria is one of the five pilots to make the grade, with Amazon posting the pilot episodes online and inviting its customers to give their feedback.

Hysteria takes viewers to Austin, Texas, where social connection has become contagious. In the pilot, members of a girls’ competitive dance team are stricken with a strange, psycho-physiological illness that manifests itself in violent fits and spasms and then begins spreading in the community through technology.

Neurologist Logan Harlen (portrayed by Mena Suvari) returns to her hometown to investigate the cause. Fighting her own demons and the growing manipulation of a brother on death row, Logan develops an uneasy suspicion that the hysteria surrounding the girls might actually be linked to social media and her own tragic past.

The 32-year-old Mexican actor portrays Matt Sanchez in the pilot.

Written by Shaun Cassidy, known for genre thrillers like Invasion and American Gothic, and directed by Otto Bathurst, the show also stars James McDaniel, Josh Stewart, Laura San Giacomo and T.R. Knight.

Amazon Studios is collaborating with Universal Television and Alcon Television Group on the production of Hysteria.

No word yet on which character Canto will portray in the Bryan Singer-directed film X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Singer posted a photo on Twitter to confirm the news as Canto is photographed watching a hockey game and standing next to the film’s other cast members Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Shawn Ashmore.

Canto responded to Singer’s tweet, saying: “Thrilled to be X-Men,” confirming that he’s indeed part of the project.

Canto, who most recently starred in Fox’s serial killer-drama The Following, once hinted that his new project would have him “turn into a ball of fire if someone pisses [him] off.” Thus, he is predicted to play either Brazilian mutant Roberto da Costa a.k.a. Sunspot or Japanese mutant Shiro Yoshida a.k.a. Sunfire.

Days of Future Past will be based on Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 back in 1981 during Chris Claremont and John Byrne’s run. The story introduced the idea of an alternate future for the Marvel Comics mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

In addition to Stewart, McKellen, and Ashmore, Canto will team up with other cast members, including James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Ellen Page and Halle Berry.

The Marvel film is slated to open in U.S. theaters on July 18, 2014.

Canto Makes U.S. Television Debut on Fox’s “The Following”

It looks like Adan Canto’s first American television project could be around for awhile…

The 31-year-old Mexican actor made his U.S. television debut this week on Fox’s new Kevin Bacon-starrer The Following, which premiered to 10.4 million viewers on Monday, making it the most-watched episode of any scripted series this season on the network.

“It’s a very beautiful surprise and I feel fortunate to be in this situation,” said Canto, who appears on the show nearly a year after signing a talent holding deal with Fox.

The series features Bacon as a troubled former FBI agent called back into service after the serial killer he captured years earlier escapes from death row.

Canto, a veteran of Mexican television, portrays Billy Thomas, described by the actor as a “loving, very passionate” man who “wants only a secure place in the world.”

“There will be many surprises with this character,” says Canto. “Every time I read the next episode it was a great surprise, I never imagined the things that are going to happen.”

Canto, a singer-songwriter, said it’s a “marvel” to work with Bacon, someone he has long admired.

Canto Cast in Fox’s Drama Pilot Featuring Kevin Bacon

It’s been a little more than a month since he signed a talent deal with FoxBut Hollywood newcomer Adan Canto may soon be appearing in his first television series on the network.

The 30-year-old Mexican actor/singer has been cast as a series regular on Fox’s untitled Kevin Williamson drama pilot.

The project, a thriller from Warner Bros TV, centers on an ex-FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) who leads the search to catch diabolical serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy)—a man who has created a cult of serial killers.

Canto will play Billy, a supportive friend of Carroll’s last intended victim, who helps to keep her safe.

The Mexican actor’s casting stems from the network’s initiative to find untapped Latin American talent.

Higareda Signs Talent Deal with Fox

She’s known as “the Mexican Sandra Bullock”… But, Martha Higareda may soon be giving the real Sandra Bullock a run for her money.

The 28-year-old Mexican actress has signed a talent holding deal with Fox as part of the network’s initiative to find untapped Latin American talent, according to Deadline.com.

Martha Higareda

Higareda has had some presence in the United States. She’s appeared in Smokin’ Aces 2 and Street Kings, the CBS pilot Skip Tracer and most recently guest-starred on CSI: Miami. Additionally, Higareda appeared in the miniseries Carlos and Lifetime’s Lies In Plain Sight.

But the actress—the daughter of actress Martha Cervantes and artist Jose Luis Higareda—is best known in her native Mexico for her standout work opposite big name stars like Jaime Camil and Ximena Sariñana. Higareda even received a Mexican Academy Award nomination for her role in Fuega Del Cielo.

As part of her talent deal with Fox, Higareda will be exposed to producers and directors of the network’s current collection of pilots.

But Higareda isn’t the only Mexican actor to sign a talent deal with Fox…

Adan Canto, a rising star in Mexico but virtual Hollywood newbie is also on reserve for pilot season at Fox.

The 30-year-old Mexican actor/singer only has a handful of projects under his belt, but has apparently demonstrated a lot of potential.

No word on what projects Canto or Higareda may be under consideration for, but Fox currently has a Latino-themed project in the works: Silvio Horta’s Latino family dramedy centered on three sisters, which is being executive produced by Fox’s biggest Latina star, American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez.
