The renewal comes six weeks into the series’ Season 1 launch.

Inspired by the manga-style Canadian comic books, Warrior Nun hails from creator/executive producer Simon Barry, who also serves as the series’ showrunner.

Warrior Nun centers on a 19-year-old woman (Baptista) who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She discovers she’s now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her.

Baptista, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Lorena Andrea, Toya Turner and Olivia Delcán are set to reprise their roles as the core group of demon-fighting nuns.

Additional Season 2 casting will be announced later.

Lorena Andrea to Star in Netflix’s Drama Series “Warrior Nun”

Lorena Andrea has found a new habit

The 24-year-old Spanish & Colombian actress has been cast as a series regular in Netflix’s upcoming drama series Warrior Nun, inspired by the Manga novels.

Lorena Andrea

From creator/executive producer Simon Barry, who wrote the project, Warrior Nun revolves around Ava (Alba Baptista), a 19-year-old woman who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She discovers she’s now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her.

Ava is tasting freedom for the first time in her young life after being liberated from an abusive orphanage and a prison of her mind and body. As a result, she wants to experience everything at once, and she can be reckless in her ambition.

Andrea portrays Sister Lilith. Born into an elite family, she is a legacy Nun and committed to her beliefs, which causes her to overstep and over-reach in her entitlement.

In addition to Andrea and Baptista, the series also stars Tristan Ulloa. The 48-year-old Spanish actor portrays Father Vincent, the spiritual and strategic leader of the Order of the Cruciform Sword. Behind the Man-of-God persona, he presents a vulnerability that is both disarming and attractive. A veteran of making bad choices, putting on the collar and devoting himself to the Church was trading one addiction for another.

Andrea, who was born in London, previously appeared in the film Papillon. She’ll next appear in the film No Man’s Land.
