Adria Arjona to Star in Zoë Kravitz’s Directorial Debut Film “Pussy Island”

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican actress will star in Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut Pussy Island.

The actors join an ensemble that also includes Naomi Ackie, Channing Tatum and Simon Rex, as previously announced.

The MGM genre film written by Kravitz and E.T. Feigenbaum follows Frida (Ackie), a young and clever Los Angeles cocktail waitress who has her eyes set on the prize: philanthropist and tech mogul Slater King (Tatum). When she skillfully maneuvers her way into King’s inner circle and ultimately an intimate gathering on his private island, she is ready for a journey of a lifetime. Despite the epic setting, beautiful people, ever-flowing champagne and late-night dance parties, Frida can sense that there’s more to this island than meets the eye. Something she can’t quite put her finger on. Something terrifying.

Pussy Island is currently in production in Mexico.

Arjona most recently starred as the female lead in Sony’s Marvel film Morbius, opposite Jared Leto. She can currently be seen in HBO’s Irma Vep opposite Alicia Vikander and in HBO Max’s Father of the Bride remake, and will make her Disney+ debut in the Star Wars series Andor on August 31st.

Sierra recently wrapped on Ellen, a miniseries from Automatik and New Regency in which she stars opposite Lin Shaye. Up next, she stars as Regina in the feature God’s Time, written and directed by Daniel Antebi, which made its world premiere at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival.

Costa is an executive protection consultant who, like Hawke, is making his feature film acting debut.

Amazon Studios has released the first extended look at the 52-year-old Spanish Oscar-winning actor’s Desi Arnaz and Nicole Kidman’s Lucille Ball in the new trailer for Being the Ricardos.

The project is writer-director Aaron Sorkin’s peek behind the scenes of television’s pioneering sitcom I Love Lucy.

In the trailer, Ball and Arnaz are depicted at one of the couple’s many pivotal moments: This time, it’s the House Un-American Activities Committee’s investigation into Ball’s early ties to the Communist Party.

“We’ve been through worse than this,” Bardem’s Arnaz assures his wife. “We have?,” replies Kidman’s Ball in a throaty voice and with the perfect comic timing that would make Lucy a legend.

The trailer also unveils J.K. Simmons as William Frawley and Nina Arianda as Vivian Vance, and features a tense scene on the Lucy set as Ball makes her first appearance following news of the FBI investigation.

In addition to Kidman, Bardem, Simmons and Arianda, Being the Ricardos features Jake Lacy, Tony Hale and Alia Shawkat.

Amazon Studio’s Being the Ricardos opens in theaters on December 10, and premieres on Amazon Prime Video on December 21.

Amazon has released the first trailer for Being the Ricardos, starring the 52-year-old Spanish Oscar-winning actor as the late Desi Arnaz.

Javier Bardem, Being the Ricardos“I get paid a fortune to do exactly what I love doing,” Nicole Kidman says in the trailer for the film, which will be released on December 21. “I work side by side with my husband who is genuinely impressed by me, and all I have to do to keep it is kill for 36 weeks in a row—and then do it again the next year.”

Writer-director Aaron Sorkin’s follow-up to The Trial of the Chicago 7 is a biopic of I Love Lucy stars and real-life couple Lucille Ball (Kidman) Arnaz (Bardem). It’s set during one production week on the TV comedy—from Monday table read through Friday audience filming—when the pair face a crisis that could end their careers and another that could end their marriage.

“You know, I did this show so that Desi and I could be together,” Kidman’s Ball admits in voiceover. “I had no idea it was going to be a hit.” Of course, in the end, it would prove to be so much more—enduring for generations as a classic, following its six seasons on CBS, which saw it win four Emmys, among numerous other accolades.

Being the Ricardos also stars J.K. Simmons, Jake LacyNina Arianda, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, Clark Gregg, Nelson Franklin and more.

The 36-year-old Broadway star, the creator of the Tony Award-winning musical Hamilton, will be offering a Drunk History lesson on Comedy Central this upcoming season.

Drunk History transports viewers back in time to hang with the Founding Fathers. And this season, Miranda, who just wrapped up his last performance as Alexander Hamilton on Broadway, will narrate the rivalry between the first United States Secretary of the Treasury and politican Aaron Burr, who was the third Vice President of the United States.

Other guest stars featured this season include Allan McLeod, Billie Joe Armstrong, Steve Berg, Rachel Bilson, Michael Cera, Josh Charles, Kat Dennings, Ben Folds, Dave Grohl, Tony Hale, Ed Helms, Thomas Middleditch, Elizabeth Olsen, Aubrey PlazaRonda Rousey, Liev Schreiber, Alia Shawkat and Duncan Trussell.

Perez to Appear on TBS’ Comedy Series “Search Party”

The 51-year-old Puerto Rican actress has joined the cast of TBS’ comedy series Search Party.

Perez will join Ron Livingston, Parker Posey and Christine Taylor as recurring actors on the show, while Brandon Micheal Hall has signed on as a series regular.

Slated to premiere in late 2016, Search Party is a dark comedy about four self-absorbed 20-somethings who become entangled in an ominous mystery when a former college acquaintance named Chantal suddenly disappears.

Led by Alia Shawkat, the cast features an ensemble of young comic actors, including John Early, John Reynolds and Meredith Hagner.

Hall plays Julian, Dory’s journalist ex-boyfriend who seeks the truth no matter who it hurts. Perez is Lorraine, a realtor whose life may be in peril for knowing too much about the missing girl. Livingston plays Keith, a private detective who takes Shawkat’s Dory under his wing in the hunt for the missing Chantal. Posey is Brick, the head of an artisanal boutique which turns out to be much more sinister than expected. And Taylor plays Gail, Dory’s bored and wealthy employer who revels in getting the scoop on her hunt for Chantal.

Plaza’s “The To-Do List” Opening Three Weeks Earlier

CBS Films has upped the domestic release date for the 28-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress’ next movie The To-Do List some three weeks earlier.

Plaza’s comedy, which centers on an awkward overachiever who tries to make up for her sexual underachieving in high school before she heads to college, has been moved up from August 16 to July 26.

Instead of facing off against Universal’s action-comedy sequel Kick-Ass 2, it will now serve as counterprogramming to Fox’s highly anticipated film The Wolverine.

Along with Plaza, writer-director Maggie Carey’s film also stars Johnny Simmons, Bill Hader, Alia Shawkat, Rachel Bilson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Andy Samberg and Connie Britton.
