The show will not be live from the Santa Monica Beach this year due to COVID-19.

Villaseñor, the first Latina cast member of NBC’s long-running SNL, cut her teeth on the stand-up circuit in Los Angeles, and was further propelled to stardom by being a semifinalist on the 2011 edition of America’s Got Talent before landing on the SNL cast.

“As someone who considers herself a pretty dependent person, I’m truly honored to host the Film Independent Spirit Awards,” said Villaseñor.

Outside of SNL, Villaseñor has provided voiceovers in films like Toy Story 4 and Ralph Breaks the InternetShe also was a guest on Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee; and in projects like Hubie Halloween, Barry and Crashing, among others.

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” Breaks Spotify Single-Day Streaming Record

Mariah Carey is ending the year with a bang…

The 51-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning singer’s insta-classic holiday song, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” has blown past Spotify’s single-day streaming record.

The song, which was released in 1994, received more 17,223,000 million streams on December 24 alone.

The track always surges towards Christmastime and already held several previous single-day streaming records: “All I Want for Christmas Is You” held the top spot going into 2019, though it was usurped by Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings” in January of that year, which garnered over 15 million streams in one day.

Earlier this month, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” even returned to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 list.

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” Tops the First Billboard Holiday 100 of the Christmas Season

Mariah Carey has reclaimed her Christmas crown…

Billboard’s Holiday 100 has returned to the charts menu, ranking the top seasonal songs of all eras, with the 51-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning songstress ruling the roost.

Mariah Carey

Claiming its familiar perch atop the Holiday 100, Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” rules the ranking for a 41st week of the chart’s 46 total weeks since the list launched in 2011; it has topped the tally for 26 consecutive weeks, dating to the start of the 2015-16 holiday season.

The Holiday 100 uses the same formula as the Billboard Hot 100, blending streaming, airplay and sales data.

The only other Holiday 100 No. 1s to date: Justin Bieber‘s “Mistletoe,” for a week in the 2011-12 holiday season; Pentatonix‘s “Little Drummer Boy” (one, 2013-14) and “Mary, Did You Know?” (two, 2014-15); and Ariana Grande‘s “Santa Tell Me” (one, 2014-15).

Carey’s 1994 carol crowns two of the three Holiday 100 component charts (with all tallies dated December 5): Holiday Airplay (21.5 million audience impressions, up 37%, in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data) and Holiday Streaming Songs (17.6 million U.S. streams, up 51%). On Holiday Digital Song Sales, it ranks at No. 4 (4,000 sold, up 26%).

Rounding out the Holiday 100’s top five is a quartet of multi-generational favorites: Brenda Lee‘s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” at No. 2, as it tops Digital Song Sales for the first time (7,000 sold); Bobby Helms‘ “Jingle Bell Rock” (No. 3); Andy Williams‘ “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” (No. 4); and Wham!‘s “Last Christmas” (No. 5).

Mariah Carey Teases New Holiday Collaboration

Mariah Carey is whippin’ up a new holiday treat…

The 50-year-old half-Venezuelan American singer, known as the “Queen of Christmas,” is teasing fans with a holiday gift,

Mariah Carey

Carey took to social media and shared a photo of three director’s chairs on the set of a project, with a Christmas tree emoji as the caption. The chairs feature the letters “MC,” “AG” and “JH,” and while MC are obviously Carey’s initials, fans are buzzing over who the other two collaborators could be.

The most prominent fan theory seems to be Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson, while some are also suggesting that “JH” might be J-Hope from BTS. Carey has yet to officially confirm her two collaborators.

Mariah Carey

If the guesses are correct, this would hardly be Grande’s first dip into the Christmas pool. The star has released two holiday collections, 2013’s Christmas Kisses and 2015’s Christmas & Chill, plus her 2014 track “Santa Tell Me.”

In 2009, Hudson hosted a holiday special, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, in which she headed back to her hometown of Chicago, joined by Michael Bublé, for Christmas memories and music.

Carey scored her 19th No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 last year with her 25-year-old insta-classic holiday song “All I Want for Christmas is You.”

Cardi B Makes History in the U.K. as “WAP,” Featuring Megan Thee Stallion, Rises to the No. 1 Spot on Singles Chart

Cardi B’s wap-ping her way into the music history books…

The 27-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar’s smash “WAP,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, has reached the No. 1 spot on the U.K. charts.

Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion

Cardi B’s “WAP” rises 2-1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, to become the first-ever female rap collaboration to reach the summit in the U.K.

After two weeks at No. 2, the track snags 65,000 charts sales, including 8.5 million streams, to take the title, the Official Charts Company reports.

It’s a personal best for both artists. Cardi B’s previous peak on the U.K. chart was No. 5 for 2018’s “Finesse,” her collaboration with Bruno Mars. Megan’s previous high point was a No. 3 for “Savage” in May of this year.

“WAP” is just the second female-led single to hit the top this year, following Lady Gaga’s “Rain On Me” featuring Ariana Grande in May.

You’d have to go back to September 2014 for the last all-female collaboration to hit No. 1, Jessie J, Grande and Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang”.
