Cardi B & Family Join Voice Cast of Upcoming Animation Film “Baby Shark’s Big Movie!”

The 30-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning rap superstar has joined the voice cast of the upcoming animation film Baby Shark’s Big Movie!

Cardi BThe film is the first feature-length spin-off from Baby Shark’s Big Show!, a pre-school series which began in 2021 on Nickelodeon-branded channels and platforms and is now in its second season.

The show is co-produced by Nickelodeon Animation and Seoul, Korea-based The Pinkfong Company and directed by Alan Foreman. Its narrative follows Baby Shark and his family as they move to Chomp City, the big city of sharks.

Cardi B is joined by several members of her own family. While the multi-platinum icon portrays Sharki B, her partner and fellow musician Offset gives voice to Offshark, while children Kulture plays Kulture Shark and Wave as Wavey Shark.

The film is set to premiere later this year exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S and shortly after on Paramount+ internationally where the service is available. In Korea, Southeast Asia and China, the film is distributed by The Pinkfong Company. Paramount+ is carried as a branded block in Korea on the CJ ENM-controlled platform Tving.

Cardi B, Offset and Kulture had previously appeared on the television version of Baby Shark’s Big Show!

The film will also star regular voice actors from the Baby Shark’s Big Show series, including: Kimiko Glenn as Baby Shark; Luke Youngblood as William; Natasha Rothwell as Mommy Shark; Eric Edelstein as Daddy Shark; Debra Wilson as Grandma Shark; and Patrick Warburton as Grandpa Shark.

In other, guest roles, the movie will be voiced by Ashley Tisdale, as Stariana, a sharp-witted and manipulative rising pop starfish who wants to take center stage with a splash hit; Aparna Nancherla; Ego Nwodim; Chloe Fineman; K-pop act Enhypen as a band of belugas; and Lance Bass as a TV announcer.

According to a synopsis from the producers Baby Shark’s Big Movie! sees Baby Shark forced to leave behind the world he loves after his family moves to the big city. He must adjust to his new life without his best friend, William. When Baby Shark encounters an evil pop starfish named Stariana who plans to steal his gift of song in order to dominate all underwater music, he must break her spell to restore harmony to the seas.

The show had its origins as “Pinkfong Baby Shark,” which launched on YouTube in November 2015 and became the world’s first video to hit 10 billion views on the platform. It has generated hit songs and the viral phenomenon, #BabySharkChallenge, which generated over 1 million cover videos around worldwide.

The 40-year-old half-Cuban American actress has joined the all-star roster of musicians, actors, athletes and influencers gathering for a special #GivingTuesdayNowevent today (May 5) to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The “Take 5 Together #forStJude” livestream will take place from 2:00 – 6:00 pm EST and feature singing, dancing, cooking, stretching and laughter in honor of the hospitalthat is the leader in treating childhood cancer.

In addition to Garcia Swisher, the event lineup includes Michael StrahanDrew BarrymoreAshley TisdaleKaia Gerber,Rio RomaShaedSofi TukkerNick SwisherScotty McCreery, Chef Adrianne Calvoand more.

All will “take 5” with St. Jude patients in an effort to “delight and inspire viewers,” according to a statement announcing the event.

St. Jude has also partnered with school spirit company Varsity Brandsfor a TikTokdance challenge to engage supporters willing to show off their best moves #forStJude.

Let’s show the world that when facing some of life’s greatest challenges and even when we have to be physically apart, together, we can make a difference in the lives of others and the children at St. Jude.”

Freeform Orders Additional Episodes of Carrero’s “Young & Hungry” Series

Freeform has ordered additional episodes of its original comedy series Young & Hungry, starring the 28-year-old Dominican actress, ahead of the show’s March 13 Season 5 premiere.

The initial Season 5 order was the standard 10 episodes, according to Deadline.com. The back order, is reportedly for 10 episodes. This would bring the total to 20 episodes, which would match the episode count of Season 2. Seasons 1,3 and 4 of the sitcom consisted of 10 episodes each.

In the fourth season finale, Gabi (Emily Osment) and Josh decided to be “friends with benefits,” much to the group’s chagrin, after their previous attempts at a relationship went awry. In the fifth season, Gabi and Josh try to prove to everyone that they won’t let feelings get in the way of their new arrangement, Sofia (Carrero) continues on the path to a career in journalism, and Josh faces an unexpected reunion with his estranged father. Season 5 features Betty White as a recurring guest star, playing neighbor Ms. Wilson, with Carl Reiner also set to appear.

The additional Season 5 episode order comes on the heels of Freeform’s recent decision not to proceed with its planned Young & Hungry spinoff toplined by Ashley Tisdale and Carrero. The multi-camera comedy project, titled Young & Sofia, originated as a planted spinoff pilot, which aired as the eighth episode of Young & Hungry‘s most recent fourth season.

Young & Hungry was the No. 1 original ad-supported cable comedy for Summer 2016 in Adults 18-34, with Season 4 posting year-to-year demo and viewership gains.

Carrero to Star in Freeform’s “Young & Hungry” Spinoff Series Starring Ashley Tisdale

Aimee Carrero is going for a spin(off)…

The 27-year-old Dominican-American actress will star opposite Ashley Tisdale in the Young & Hungry spinoff series, which is in development at Freeform.

Carrero will reprise her role in the original series, Sofia Rodriguez, an ambitious banking intern and Gabi (Emily Osment)’s best friend and roommate.

The proposed Young & Hungry spinoff will reportedly follow Sofia (Carrero) as she lands a job working for an overbearing boss. Tisdale is playing lesbian magazine editor Logan Rawlings, a role she originated in two guest-starring appearances on Young & Hungry, which she executive produces, along with the spinoff.

Young and Hungry just had its third season finale this week and returns with new episodes June 1.

Along with role role on Young & Hungry, Carrero voices the title character in the upcoming Disney Junior animated princess series Elena of Avalor. She also has appeared on FX’s The Americans and currently on NBC’s Blindspot.

Carrero’s feature credits include The Last Witch Hunter and The Devil’s Due.

Valderrama to Voice the Male Lead in the Animated Musical “Charming”

The 35-year-old Colombian and Venezuelan American actor will voice the male lead in the animated musical Charming.

Valderrama, who stars in Fox’s new series Minority Report, joins a cast that includes Demi Lovato as Lenore, Ashley Tisdale as Cinderella, Avril Lavigne as Snow White and Chinese pop star G.E.M. as Sleeping Beauty in the pic from writer-director Ross Venokur.

“Wilmer had everything we were looking for while we were contemplating who to cast as this Prince Charming: irresistible charm, perfect comedic timing and a lot of heart,” said John H. Williams, who is producing the film with fellow 3QU Media co-founder Henry Skelsey. “We needed a Prince Charming who could convey the love of being a lover and someone who isn’t afraid of being absurd and over the top at times but also be deep and emotional when he actually meets his unexpected (not a princess) true love.”

Valderrama is a regular on Robert Rodriguez’s El Rey Network series From Dusk Till Dawn and voiced the title role on Disney’s toon series Handy Manny.

Other recent credits for the That 70’s Show alum include features The Adderall Diaries and To Whom It May Concern and TV’s Raising Hope and Awake.

“We’ve all been waiting so long to see a Latin princess represented in an animated fairy tale,” Valderrama said. “I’m grateful to the enlightened producer John Williams for anointing me as the first Latin prince.”

Rodriguez to Appear on Discovery Channel’s “Shark After Dark”

The 46-year-old Mexican American filmmaker has been added to the list of guest for this year’s Shark After Dark, Discovery Channel’s live Shark Week late-night talk show.

Rodriguez joins a list of guests that includes Ashley Tisdale, Matt Walsh, Chelsea Handler, Jake Johnson, Damon Wayans Jr., Danny Trejo and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

This year’s crop of guests aren’t necessarily names with obvious shark connections, but some of the guests, including Tisdale, are rabid Shark Week fans, according to producers who trolled Twitter to find obsessive fans.

Tom Green is reprising his character, Blurb, the alien shark cousin of Bob The Shark, who once again will be played by Craig Ferguson’s CBS late night warm-up act, Bob Oschack. Bob The Shark was introduced during last year’s Shark Week and gained 33.7K Twitter followers.

Returning host Josh Wolf will lead viewers through an hour-long celebration of all things shark-related. The late-night show plays an important role in Discovery Channel’s Shark Week interactivity campaign.  During the program viewers can ask questions of/make comments about guests, including the shark experts who’ll be the first guest each night, commenting on that night’s shark-show lead-in.

Researcher/shark ecologist Paul Clerkin for instance, who’s a post grad at the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, which runs the Pacific Shark Research Center and participates in a program run through the center to help save deep sea sharks brought up as catch by-product.

Shark Week launches on August 10.

Sheen to Star in “Scary Movie 5”

It’s about to get scary for Charlie Sheen

The 46-year-old part-Spanish actor has reportedly signed on to star in Dimension’s Scary Movie 5, the fifth installment of Dimension’s horror spoof franchise.

Sheen—currently starring in FX’s new comedy series Anger Management—will reprise his role as Tom Logan in the previous two installments of the franchise, according to E! Online.

Lindsay Lohan and Ashley Tisdale, as well as franchise stalwarts Anthony Anderson and Regina Hall, are among the cast.

It’s the latest film project on the schedule for Sheen, who will be portraying the president of the United States in Machete Kills.

Production is expected to start September in Atlanta.
