BBC Releases First Trailer for “Frozen Planet II,” Featuring Camila Cabello’s Supporting Track

Camila Cabello is helping shine a spotlight on our planet…

BBC has released the first worldwide trailer for its natural history landmark sequel Frozen Planet II, which features the accompanying song performed by the 25-year-old Mexican-Cuban singer and multiple Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer.

Camila CabelloThe new track, “Take Me Back Home,” marks the first time a new song has been written to support a BBC One natural history landmark release and features Cabello supported by the orchestration of Zimmer and his long-term collaborators – arranger Anže Rozman and producer Russell Emanuel for Bleeding Fingers Music.

The two-minute first look trailer teases scenes from four years of remarkable expeditions by BBC Studios Natural History Unit to the Earth’s frozen frontiers – the Arctic, Antarctic, Tundra, Boreal Forest and the High Mountains.

It shows off animals in their natural habitats as never seen before, even joining forces to survive in brutal environments.

Eleven years after the Emmy, BAFTA and NTA award-winning first series, Frozen Planet II will feature unchartered new worlds and pioneering technology capturing new behavior, showcasing the ever-changing fragile world of beauty and hostility in these habitats. We discover just how much these icy worlds are changing and the dramatic impact this is having not just on these animals’ stories but on the whole planet.

Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers Music have previously composed the BAFTA-nominated score to Planet Earth II, and critically-acclaimed music for Blue Planet II.

This is a BBC Studios Natural History Unit production for BBC One, co-produced by BBC America and The Open University, Migu Video, ZDF and France Télévisions.

Netflix to Launch Season 6 of “Peaky Blinders,” Featuring Anya Taylor-Joy’s Return to the Cast, in June

Anya Taylor-Joy is ready for the Peaky of summer on Netflix

Netflix has set the premiere date for the sixth and final season of period gangster epic Peaky Blinders, which sees the return of the 25-year-old Argentine American actress to the cast, for early June around the world.

Anya Taylor-Joy, Peaky BlindersAll six episodes of Season 6 will launch on the streaming service on June 10 in the U.S. and all markets where Netflix has the show’s rights.

Peaky Blinders is currently enjoying a strong run in the UK.

The Cillian Murphy-led series debuted its sixth season in late February on BBC One in the UK, setting a new record for a season launch at 3.8 million overnight viewers. That was the best score for the Shelby clan in a debut episode ever and also tied the series’ overall record, which was previously set by the Season 5 finale in September 2019.

Season 6 is the last run of the drama in series form. However, creator Steven Knight recently confirmed to us that a movie is definitely going to happen with the same players.

In Season 6, Murphy’s Tommy Shelby will square off with various foes, but the most formidable enemy he has is himself. Also returning are Tom Hardy, Paul Anderson, Finn Cole, Taylor-Joy, Natasha O’Keeffe and Sophie Rundle, among others.

Stephen Graham and James Frecheville also appear. Co-star Helen McCrory (Polly Gray) passed away last year and the first episode of Season 6 is dedicated to her.

Peaky Blinders began airing on BBC Two in 2013 and went on to win the BAFTA for Best Drama in its fourth season. It then moved to BBC One in 2019 and has continued to grow its rabid fanbase.

Anya Taylor-Joy is putting her Blinders back on…

The BBC has released the trailer for the sixth and final season of its hit period gangster saga Peaky Blinders, featuring extended footage of the 25-year-old Argentine American actress, who will be reprising her role as Gina Gray in the upcoming season.

Anya Taylor-Joy, Peaky BlindersAn air date has not yet been announced, although it has been teased for early 2022.

Cillian Murphy is back as Tommy Shelby, seeking a means for the titular Birmingham-based clan to finally rest.

In addition to Murphy and Taylor-Joy, Tom Hardy, Paul Anderson, Finn Cole, and Sophie Rundle, among others, return for the final season. Stephen Graham also appears. Co-star Helen McCrory passed away in April of 2021. The fate of her Aunt Polly is not disclosed in the trailer released today.

Creator and writer Steven Knight previously said of the sixth season, “Peaky is back and with a bang. After the enforced production delay due to the COVID pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher. We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form.”

The sixth season of Peaky Blinders is written by Knight, while Anthony Byrne returns as director having helmed season five to great acclaim, and Nick Goding produces.

Created and entirely written by Knight, the beloved drama first aired on BBC Two eight years ago, winning the BAFTA for Best Drama in its fourth season and then making the move to BBC One in 2019 with audiences of over 7M. Outside the UK, it airs on Netflix.

Natalie Mendoza to Star as Satine in Broadway’s “Moulin Rouge! The Musical”

Natalie Mendoza is seeing rouge

The 42-year-old part-Spanish Australian actress/singer has been cast as the lead role of Broadway’s Moulin Rouge! The Musical, filling the vacancy left when the Tony Award-nominated Karen Olivo resigned in April.

Natalie Mendoza

With the casting of Mendoza, the full Moulin Rouge! cast is in place for the resumption of performances on Friday, September 24, at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

The musical originally opened on July 25, 2019, but performances were suspended in March 2020 when Broadway went dark due to the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.

Mendoza joins a principal cast that also includes Aaron Tveit, Danny Burstein, Sahr Ngaujah, Tam Mutu, Ricky Rojas and Robyn Hurder.

The casting is a bit of a homecoming for Mendoza, who portrayed a can-can dancer named China Doll in Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film Moulin Rouge!

“From the moment Natalie was cast as China Doll in Moulin Rouge! the film, we knew we had discovered a major young talent,” Luhrmann said in a statement. “That young talent has now blossomed into the lead in our Broadway production. I could not be more thrilled that Natalie will be lowered in that glorious swing as Broadway’s Sparkling Diamond.”

Said Mendoza, “Having been involved with the film from its early conception, the role of Satine has always been close to my heart. This rare jewel of an opportunity to play a character like her on Broadway feels like a full circle moment. With this stunning group of bohemian artists and this uniquely conscious creative team I couldn’t be in better care.”

Mendoza, raised in Australia, previously worked with the Broadway musical’s director Alex Timbers when she appeared as Imelda Marcos in Here Lies Love at London’s Royal National Theatre.

He starred on the BBC One drama series Hotel Babylon and The Descent horror film franchise.

On the film side, she’ll next be seen in the buzzy Cannes Film Festival film Annette, directed by Leos Carax and starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard.

Mendoza’s other credits include Michael Winterbottom’s futuristic thriller Code 46, Miramax’s The Great Raid and, on television, ABC’s production of South Pacific, ITV’s McDonald & Dodds, CBS’ Blue Bloods and in upcoming episodes of Amazon Prime’s Jack Ryan.

On stage, additional credits include Miss Saigon, Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark and Ghost.

Acorn TV Acquires Longoria’s BBC One Miniseries “Decline and Fall”

Eva Longoria’s decline and fall is extending beyond Great Britain…

Acorn TV has acquired the BBC One comedy Decline and Fall, starring the 42-year-old Mexican American actress and former Desperate Housewives star.

Eva Longoria

The three-part miniseries will make its U.S. premiere on Monday, May 15, on Acorn TV.

Decline and Fall, the first television adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s classic novel, also stars Jack Whitehall and David Suchet.

“Acorn TV is off to another record year, and May just might be our best schedule yet,” said Mark Stevens, President of Acorn Brands at RLJ Entertainment. “We’re thrilled with the subscriber response to our first 2017 Acorn TV Originals — Agatha Christie’s The Witness for the Prosecution and Irish drama Striking Out — and Decline and Fall is a perfect addition to our Originals slate. This new BBC One comedy has been getting rave reviews in the UK for its witty script and stellar cast led by Jack Whitehall, David Suchet, and Eva Longoria, so we know U.S. fans will love it as much as we do.”

BBC America Sets June Premiere Date for Cabrera’s “The Musketeers”

It’ll be “all for one and one for all” in the U.S. for Santiago Cabrera this summer…

BBC America has set a June 22 premiere date for The Musketeers, which stars the 35-year-old Venezuelan-born Chilean actor and former Heroes star.

The Musketeers

The Musketeers, a BBC Drama production for BBC One, has also received a second-season pick up from the network.

It was renewed by the flagship BBC network last month.

The series – a contemporary take on the classic Alexandre Dumas characters, The Musketeers – was created by Adrian Hodges (My Week With Marilyn). It’s set on the streets of 17th century Paris, where law and order is an idea more than a reality.

In addition to being King Louis XIII’s personal bodyguards, Athos, Aramis and Porthos stand resolutely for social justice, honor, valor, love — and for the thrill of it.

Cabrera portrays Aramis in the series alongside Luke Pasqualino (The Borgias) stars as D’Artagnan, Tom Burke (Great Expectations) as Athos and Howard Charles (Royal Shakespeare Company) as Porthos.

In the United Kingdom, the 10-episode The Musketeers got off to a strong start with the premiere drawing 9.3 million viewers to become BBC’s biggest new drama launch in two years. Ratings subsequently dipped, with the finale this past Sunday averaging 3.9 million viewers.
