Cardi B to Headline Hot 97’s Summer Jam in June

Cardi B is preparing for a steamy summer

This year, renowned New York radio station Hot 97 is looking to shake things up with its annual performance staple, Summer Jam, by selecting the 30-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning rap superstar to headline the event on June 4 at UBS Arena.

Cardi BCardi B will bring her laundry bag of hits, including Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers “Bodak Yellow,” “WAP,” “Up” and more.

The Bronx dynamo will have a practice round when she headlines Rolling Loud Thailand on April 13-15 along with Travis Scott and Chris Brown.

In June 2022, Cardi B headlined Wireless Festival, and in December, she reportedly netted $1 million for a 35-minute set at Art Basel.

“I got payed 1 million dollars to perform at this elite bankers private event for 400 people and only for 35 minutes,” she tweeted in response to a mocking her “backyard set.”

In addition to Cardi B, Hot 97 has enlisted several female upstarts to perform along with the touted superstar, including Ice Spice, GloRilla, Coi Leray and Lola Brooke.

More New York representatives will also hit the stage at UBS Arena, notably French Montana, Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign. To commemorate 50 years of hip-hop, The LOX will lead the way.

Younger artists such as NLE Choppa, Kenzo B, 2Rare, Sha EK, McVert and TQ will perform at a pre-festival show hosted by Montana. According to the radio station, more acts will be announced later.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, April 8 at 10:00 am.

“HOT 97’s Summer Jam is a hip-hop staple, and we are excited to bring the most electric show of the summer back to New York for hip-hop’s 50th anniversary,” said Bradford Tobin, president, chief operating officer and general counsel in a press release.

“The show is all about bringing hip-hop’s biggest stars to the stage, and we are honored to have New York’s own Cardi B as our headliner this year,” added TT Torrez, multimedia personality and VP of artist and label Relations. “I am so proud of the strong female presence in our lineup, which represents women’s dominance over the airwaves this year.”

When Baby Shark encounters an evil pop starfish named Stariana who plans to steal his gift of song in order to dominate all underwater music, he must break her spell to restore harmony to the seas.

It has generated hit songs and the viral phenomenon, #BabySharkChallenge, which generated over 1 million cover videos around worldwide.

Cardi B Celebrates Vodka-Infused Whipshots Sales Milestone

Cardi B is whipping things up in the alcohol business…

The 30-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning rap superstar’s voda-infused whipped cream Whipshots has sold more than 2 million cans and expanded into new markets, the brand has announced.

Whipshots by Cardi B“We just went double platinum! We’re not playing around when we say Whipshots is the best,” Cardi said in a statement. “Boozy and beautiful since day one, and two million cans later, there is no slowing us down. I love the fans supporting our brand – let’s keep this party going!”

Cardi B partnered with Starco Brands to release the boozy, non-dairy whipped cream, which sold its first million cans in just 10 months and went on to sell another million cans four months later.

Whipshots retail for $5.99 for the smaller, 50-milliliter can, while the larger, 200-milliliter can is $14.99.

“The overwhelming demand for Whipshots across the U.S. has been astounding and is a true testament to what’s possible when you have an incredible product and best-in-class retail partners,” noted Starco Brands CEO Ross Sklar.

Cardi B and Starco launched Whipshots in December 2021 with vanilla, mocha and caramel flavors. A limited-edition peppermint flavor was released around the holidays last year.

In addition to reaching a sales milestone, Whipshots has expanded into 26 markets around the U.S. including new states such as Delaware, Georgia, New Jersey and Tennessee.

The brand picked up new retail partners as well, including Meijer, AlbertsonsWalmartVons, Rouses, Woodman’s and Giant Eagle.

Whipshots are also available online at Total Wine & More and through delivery apps such as InstacartDoor DashDrizzly and GoPuff.

Although she’s not the only recording artist to sell booze, Cardi opened up about her vision for Whipshots in an interview with Complex last year.

“I feel like if it was just mediocre, people would just be like, ‘Ah, whatever.’ Things are always going to sell when you have hard-core fans, but I wanted this to be big,” she said at the time. “Like, bigger than life, and that is always the goal. So I believe in my product. I love my product. It’s delicious and it’s very strong. And I feel like everybody keeps giving me positive feedback.”

Selena Gomez has a billion reasons to smile…

The 30-year-old Mexican American singer’s blockbuster 2019 single “Lose You to Love Me” has surpassed a billion Spotify listens, a milestone she celebrated on Instagram on Wednesday (March 22).

Selena GomezIt’s Gomez’s first billion streams track as a solo artist and fourth total.

The streaming service announced the news on social media, tweeting, “All the love for @selenagomez ❤️ Congratulations for 1 Billion streams on Lose You to Love Me #BillionsClub.”

Spotify also posted about the landmark on Instagram, which the “Calm Down” singer re-shared on her IG Story.

“Grateful,” she wrote, adding a heart emoji.

Gomez’ previous entries include collaborations on “It Ain’t Me” with Kygo, “Wolves” with Marshmello and “Taki Taki” with DJ Snake, Ozuna and Cardi B.

Released as the lead single off the Only Murders in the Building star’s third studio album, Rare, “Lose You to Love Me” marked Gomez’s first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

It was a streaming powerhouse from the very beginning, becoming the singer’s first song to top Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart shortly after its release.

“When I wrote the song ‘Lose You to Love Me,’ I was kind of a mess,” she told Billboard in early 2020. “It was really difficult for me. And by the time we shot the music video at the end of the year, it had a completely different meaning, and it was so freeing. It was actually fun for me – I think, because I let it go, it actually meant that I let it go within myself as well. And I couldn’t have asked for a better way to close a chapter in my life.”

Rosalía Teases Potential New All-English Track “LLYLM”

Is Rosalía switching tongues?

The 30-year-old Spanish Grammy-winning singer/songwriter is teasing what appease to be her first music release of 2023.

RosaliaIn a new TikTok post uploaded on Monday (Jan. 9), Rosalia shared a 25-second video where she’s wearing a long coat, fuzzy ear muffs, and spinning around a lighted and glittery room.

In the background, a snippet of what could possibly be her new song titled “LLYLM(Lie Like You Love Me).

The upcoming track highlights Rosalia singing a verse completely in English backed by a catchy pop tune laced with flamenco palmas (handclapping).

“I don’t need honesty/Baby, lie like you love me, lie like you love me/Cover me in a dream, I’ll be yours, our fantasy/Who needs the honesty?/ Baby, lie like you love me, lie like you love me/Maybe in the end, it becomes real, enough for me,” she chants in the track.

The “Bizcochito” singer teased the new track three weeks after dropping her first collaborative effort with Cardi B on “Despechá RMX” and just days after ringing in the new year in Japan alongside her boyfriend, singer Rauw Alejandro and the latest music lovebirds Christian Nodal and Cazzu.

In 2022, Rosalía won four Latin Grammys awards, including the coveted album of the year for Motomami. The edgy and experimental 16-track set debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Albums chart on the April 2, 2022-dated ranking.

Her supporting world tour grossed $28.1 million through the end of October, according to Billboard Boxscore.

Cardi B Channels Inner Emo Kid to Cover Fall Out Boy at New Year’s Eve Party

Cardi B is experiencing a major Fall Out moment…

The 30-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning rap superstar celebrated New Year’s Eve on Saturday, December 31 by covering Fall Out Boy‘s seminal hit “Sugar We’re Goin’ Down.”

Cardi BCardi B’s delightfully emo moment came during her performance at Miami’s E11EVEN nightclub to ring in 2023.

With a drink in one hand and a mic in the other, Cardi excitedly launched into the 2005 single in a fan-captured TikTok video.

“Anything you wanna hear/ But that’s just who I am this week/ Lying in bed/ Next to the mausoleum,” she wailed a capella as the crowd excitedly sang along.

“Cardi [B] singing fall out boy first thing after midnight on new year’s day is exactly how i wanted to start my year,” the TikTok user wrote on the clip, which also features Offset on stage, playing to a different part of the packed crowd.

Released as the lead single off 2005’s From Under the Cork Tree, “Sugar We’re Goin Down” served as the foursome’s breakout hit, becoming their first top 10 smash and ultimately peaking at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. The pop-punk anthem also reached No. 3 on the Alternative Airplay chart as well as No. 2 on Pop Airplay.

Funnily enough, Cardi B’s appreciation for Pete Wentz and co. plays into a tweet she posted earlier this fall expressing her love for the “emo kids” at her high school who were “actually really cool and will give me free cigarettes.”

Weeks before her New Year’s Eve performance, Cardi B promised that her long-awaited follow-up to 2018’s Invasion of Privacy is set to be released sometime in 2023 and even treated the Bardi Gang to a seven-second snippet of an unreleased song via Twitter.

Cardi B Earns Fifth No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart with GloRilla-Collaboration “Tomorrow 2”

t’s five for fighting for Cardi B.

The 30-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar has notched her fifth No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart with her GloRilla-collaboration “Tomorrow 2” on the chart dated December 24.

Cardi B & GloRillaThe song rises from No. 2 to top the list after a 6% boost to 21.1 million audience impressions made it the most-heard song on U.S. monitored R&B/hip-hop radio stations in the week ending December 18, according to Luminate.

Cardi B previously led with this slate of chart-toppers:

Bodak Yellow (Money Moves),” 10 weeks at No. 1, beginning Sept. 30, 2017
No Limit,” G-Eazy featuring A$AP Rocky & Cardi B, six, Dec. 23, 2017
Money,” nine, Feb. 2, 2019
Please Me,” with Bruno Mars, 11, April 6, 2019

Through the new leader, GloRilla captures her first No. 1 on the list. Her sole prior entry, the viral hit “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” with Hitkidd, reached a No. 3 peak in August.

Plus, the combined might of both rappers yields only the fourth all-female collaboration to reach No. 1 out of 297 total leaders on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay since the chart’s launch in 1992. Brandy and Monica inaugurated the club with the smash single “The Boy Is Mine,” which ruled for five weeks in 1998. In 2007, Keyshia Cole recruited Missy Elliott and Lil Kim as featured acts for the track “Let It Go,” a four-week champ that year, and in 2020, Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage,” featuring Beyoncé, became the third entrant into the league and spent three weeks atop the list.

Of note, there’s one more instance of multiple female acts on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay No. 1, though it isn’t an all-women billing. In 2001, Ja Rule’s “Put It on Me,” featuring Lil Mo and Vita, posted six weeks in charge.

Beyond its R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay coronation, “Tomorrow 2” retains its standing to claim a fourth week at No. 1 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart as the most-played song on U.S.-monitored R&B/hip-hop radio stations. There, it continues to improve, with 5% more plays in the tracking week ending Dec. 18 than the prior seven-day period. Similarly, it wins a third term atop Rap Airplay after a 7% audience boost in the same tracking window.

On Rhythmic Airplay, meanwhile, the collaboration ascends 8-7 thanks to a 9% gain in weekly plays at the format. Success at all the formats helps the song maintain its No. 15 peak thus far on the all-genre Radio Songs chart for a second straight week, where, despite its static position, “Tomorrow 2” increased 5% in audience impressions to reach 31.9 million for the week ending December 16.
