Wilson Cruz to Take Part in Special “Star Trek: Discovery” Panel at This Year’s New York Comic-Con

Wilson Cruz will be beaming down to this year’s New York Comic-Com.

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican actor and his Star Trek: Discovery cast mates will be taking part in a special panel discussion at thevirtual confab, which will take place on October 8-11.

This year’s New York Comic-Con will be available to watch on YouTube and FindtheMetaverse.com.

The Star Trek: Discovery panel will kick off opening day of the NYCC and will feature Cruz and some cast members and producers from the series.

This year’s New York Comin-Con will include suprise guests, news and exclusive inside looks at the shows.

CBS All Access Releases Teaser Trailer for Henry Zaga’s New Stephen King Series “The Stand”

Henry Zaga is taking a Stand…

CBS All Access has released the first trailer for its limited series The Stand, starring the 27-year-old Brazilian actor.

The series is the latest adaptation of a beloved Stephen King novel.

The star-studded television take on King’s 1978 book centers on the author’s apocalyptic vision for a world ruined by a super plague and caught in the middle of the fight between good and evil.

The 30-second teaser trailer offers a taste of the adaptation with Whoopi Goldberg as Abigail Freemantle, followed by flashes the characters’ haunting journey.

In addition to Goldberg and Zaga, who portrays Nick Andros, the series also stars James Marsen, Jovan Adepo, Amber Heard and Daniel Sunjata.

The Stand is written by Josh Boone and Ben Cavell. It’s produced by CBS Television Studios and will premiere on CBS All Access on December 17.

Zaga’s previous television credits include 13 Reasons Why, Trinkets, Teen Wolf, and Looking for Alaska.

Dania Ramirez to Star in Netflix’s DC Vertigo Comic-Based Series “Sweet Tooth”

Dania Ramirez has landed a Sweet role…

The 40-year-old Dominican actress and Devious Maids star will star in Sweet Tooth, Netflix’s new drama series based on the DC Vertigo comic.

Ramirez will be part of the series’ core cast of series regulars, which includes Christian Convery, Nonso Anozie and Adeel Akhtar. Will Forte has a recurring role, while James Brolin serves as the series’ narrator.

The eight-episode Sweet Tooth follows the adventures of Gus (Convery) — part deer, part boy — who leaves his home in the forest to find the outside world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. He joins a ragtag family of humans and animal-children hybrids like himself in search of answers about this new world and the mystery behind his hybrid origins.

Ramirez will reportedly play Aimee, a pioneer in the middle of dystopic America, a lone scavenger in an abandoned city, rebuilding a sustainable habitat and giving orphaned hybrids a home.

The project hails from Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey’s Team Downey, Jim Mickle, Beth Schwartz and Warner Bros. Television.

Along with fellow new Netflix series Cowboy Bebop, Sweet Tooth was among of a handful of Hollywood television series and movies to be granted border exemptions by the New Zealand government several weeks ago, a crucial step for any overseas production to be able to film in the country, which has largely eradicated COVID-19.

The tentative plan is for the cast to travel to New Zealand in August, where they’ll self-isolate for two weeks ahead of a potential September 7 start of production, according to Deadline.com.

Ramirez can currently be seen as one of the leads in the first season of Kevin Williamson’s CBS All Access anthology drama series Tell Me a Story, airing on the CW.

She previously starred on Marc Cherry’s Lifetime series Devious Maids and had major roles on ABC’s Once Upon a Time and NBC’s Heroes.

CBS All Access to Premiere Season Three of Wilson Cruz’s “Star Trek: Discovery” in October

Wilson Cruz will be trekking this October…

The third season of Star Trek: Discovery, starring the 46-year-old Puerto Rican actor and activist, will be available on CBS All Access in October.

New episodes from the 13-episode third season will be available on the streamer weekly on Thursdays starting on October 15.

The premiere date for season 3 was unveiled with a video of Commander Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) planting a tattered Federation flag on a desolate planet — which seems to be picking up right where season 2 left off.

If you remember from the season finale, Burnham traveled into a wormhole. Season 3 of Star Trek:Discovery finds the U.S.S. Discovery crew landing into an unknown future far from the home they once knew. Now living in a time filled with uncertainty, the U.S.S. Discovery crew, along with the help of some new friends, must work together to restore hope to the Federation.

In addition to Cruz, who portrays Dr. Hugh Culber and Martin-Green, the cast for the third season of Star Trek: Discoveryincludes Doug Jones (Commander Saru), Anthony Rapp (Lt. Commander Paul Stamets), Mary Wiseman (Ensign Sylvia Tilly), David Ajala (Cleveland “Book” Booker) and Michelle Yeoh (Philippa Georgiou).

Tainy Executive Produces the “SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run” Soundtrack, Releases First Single “Agua” with J Balvin

Tainy’s getting his Sponge on…

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican record producer and songwriter is the mastermind behind Paramount Animation, Nickelodeon and NEON16’s SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run movie soundtrack.

Tainy executive produced the album alongside renowned industry leader Lex Borrero, with NEON16 curating the official soundtrack of the forthcoming animated film.

This marks the first time the Latin multimedia company and talent incubator has partnered with the animated franchise.

The soundtrack, set to be released via NEON16/Interscope Records, will include songs by Tyga, Swae Lee, Lil Mosey, Weezer, Snoop Dogg, The Flaming Lips, Kenny G and Cyndi Lauper, to name a few.

Additionally, Hans Zimmer is expected to score the film.

Kicking off the soundtrack is Tainy and J Balvin’s single “Agua,” which was released on Thursday, July 9.

“Tomorrow it’s officially out,” Balvin expressed on Instagram posing with Patrick Star. “It was meant to be a secret but oh well! I know that this song has good vibes and a lot of happiness, which we need during these moments.”

SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Runwill debut digitally in the U.S via premium video on demand in early 2021 and then move exclusively to CBS All Access, ViacomCBS’ subscription video on demand and live-streaming service, following the premium video-on-demand window.

The CW to Air Dania Ramirez’s Fairy Tale Thriller Series “Tell Me A Story” in July

Dania Ramirez’s story will be told sooner than initially planned…

The CW has moved up the scheduled debut of the first season of the 40-year-old Dominican American actress’ psychological thrilleranthology series Tell Me a Story.

Instead of opening in the fall, the CW will debut the first 10-episode season of the CBS All Access series to this summer, with the series debuting on Tuesday, July 28 at 9:00 pm ET.

Tell Me a Story takes the world’s most beloved fairy tales and reimagines them as a dark and twisted psychological thriller.

Set in modern-day New York City, the first season of this serialized drama interweaves The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel into an epic and subversive tale of love, loss, greed, revenge, and murder.

In addition to Ramirez, who portrays Hannah Perez, the first season also stars James Wolk, Billy Magnussenand Zabryna Guevara.

Since the network acquired two seasons of Tell Me a Story, the CW will have enough episodes to continue running through the series through the fall.

The 10-episode second season, set in Nashville, Tennessee, reimagines the princess-themed tales Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.It stars 35-year-old half-Cuban American actress Odette Annable as Madelyn “Maddie” Pruitt, as well as Paul Wesleyand Danielle Campbell.

Alana De La Garza Appears in CBS’ New Video Tribute to America’s COVID-19 Frontline Health Workers & First Responders

Alana De La Garza is helping honor the country’s coronavirus pandemic frontliners…

The 43-year-old half-Mexican American actress appears in a special CBS video tribute to America’s frontline health workers and first responders.

The “Better Days” tribute, which features a new OneRepublic track, kicks off a new campaign the network has dubbed “CBS Salutes.”

It premiered between 10:00 and 11:00 pm ET/PT during the season finale of Survivor on CBS and across social media.

OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder introduces the tribute, which appears over a live acoustic quarantine version of the song.

“There aren’t enough thank-yous in the world for all the amazing people working on the front lines saving lives right now,” Tedder says. “I, along with everyone at CBS, salute you.”

In addition to de la Garza, who appears on CBS’ FBI series, appears alongside othe CBS stars, including Walton Goggins (The Unicorn), LL Cool J (NCIS: Los Angeles) and Sonequa Martin-Green (CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Discovery), among others.

But the real stars of the video are the doctors, nurses, hospital staffers, police, firefighters, EMTs and others who’ve worked to keep the rest of us healthy and safe, with plenty of them spotlighted in the video.

This is the first salvo in the “CBS Salutes” initiative that’ll use popular music artists along with CBS talent saluting special causes.

Natalie Martinez to Appear in Season Two of CBS All Access’ “The Twilight Zone”

The 35-year-old Cuban American actress has joined the cast of the second season of CBS All Access’ anthology reboot of The Twilight Zone.

Martinez will appear in the episode titled “A Small Town.”It was written by Steven Barnes and Tananarive Due and directedby Alonso Alvarez-Barreda.

But Martinezisn’t the only Latina who’ll travel through another dimension…a dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind. A dimension called The Twilight Zone.

Sky Ferreirahas also been added to the 10-episode sophomore season of Jordan Peeleand Simon Kinberg’s reimagining of the classic sci-fi series.

Others set to appear on the second Kylie Bunbury, Topher Grace, David Krumholtz, Thomas Lennon, Gretchen Mol, Paula Newsome, Jurnee Smollett, Damon Wayans Jr., among others.

Ferreira is starring in the episode titled “Ovation,” directed by Ana Lily Amirpourand written by Emily C. Changand Sara Amini.

Odette Annable to Star in Pilot for ABC’s “thirtysomething” Sequel, “thirtysomething(else)”

Odette Annable is taking on something big!

The 34-year-old Colombian & Cuban American actress will lead the ensemble cast of the ABC pilot thirtysomething(else), a sequel to Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick’s beloved 1987-91 drama series thirtysomething, playing grown-up Janey Steadman.

Written by Herskovitz and Zwick and to be directed by Zwick, thirtysomething(else) will follow an ensemble of new faces playing the grown-up children of the original cast, the new generation of thirtysomethings.

They are being joined by returning original cast members Ken Olin(Michael Steadman),Mel Harris(Hope Murdoch), Timothy Busfield(Elliot Weston) and Patty Wettig(Nancy Weston), reprising their characters in supporting roles.

Annable’s Janey Steadman is the striking spinoff of Hope and Michael. With piercing eyes and unruly dark hair, Janey is a passionate, some might say driven person, possessed of what her boyfriend, Brad, calls a very big engine in a very small car.

Annable joins recently cast Chris Wood, who’ll play Janey’s younger brother, Leo Steadman. The two previously co-starred together on Supergirl.

Although seen as an ensemble drama, the original thirtysomethingseries revolved around husband and wife Michael and Hope and their baby Janey. Little Janey was played by twins Brittanyand Lacey Craven.

Herskovitz and Zwick executive produce for ABC Studios, part of Disney Television Studios, and MGM Television.

Filming on the pilot is slated to begin in March in New Jersey.

Annable played a lead on the second season of CBS All Access’ anthology series Tell Me a Story. Before that, she was a series regular on Season 3 of the CW’s Supergirl, playing the villainous Samantha Arias/Reign.She is reprising her role in an episode airing later this month.

Her other credits include House, October Road and Banshee.

Morena Baccarin to Star in CBS All Access’ Second Season of “The Twilight Zone”

Morena Baccarinis in the Zone…

The 40-year-old Brazilian actress has been cast in CBS All Access’ anthology series The Twilight Zone’s second season.

Baccarin joins a cast that includes Billy Porter, Jenna Elfman, Gillian Jacobsand Chris Meloni.

Style blogger Tavi Gevinson also appears with Colman Domingo, Ethan Embry, Tony Hale, Abbie Hern, Sophia Macy, Joel McHale, Jimmi Simpson and Daniel Sunjata.

Separately, Jordan Peele, who executive produces and narrates the show, will write an episode for the second season.

The Get Out writer and director will write the episode Downtime, which features Baccarin, Domingo and Hale.

The CBS All Access series is a modern reimagining of Rod Serling’s original, which aired from 1959-64 on CBS. The first season featured actors including Ike Barinholtz, John Cho, Ginnifer Goodwin, Greg Kinnear, Kumail Nanjiani, Chris O’Dowd, Seth Rogen, Adam Scott and Alison Tolman.

The drama is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Kinberg’s Genre Films.
