Cardi B Leads Pack of BET Hip Hop Awards Nominees with 12

Cardi B is one of this year’s hip hop artists to beat…

The 30-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning rap superstar and 21 Savage are the leading nominees for the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards with 12 nominations each.

Cardi BThe two artists are going head-to-head in seven categories – best collaboration, lyricist of the year, hip-hop artist of the year, hustler of the year, best hip-hop video, sweet 16: best featured verse and song of the year.

Drake is next in line with nine nods. He is followed on the leaderboard by Burna Boy and DJ Khaled with seven nods each; J. Cole with six nods; Coi Leray, GloRilla and Jay-Z with five nods each; Lil Uzi Vert with four; and DaBaby, Kendrick Lamar, Latto, Lil Durk, Megan Thee Stallion and Metro Boomin with three nods each.

Meanwhile, Ice Spice has picked up two nods.

The 23-year-old half-Dominican American rapper is up for Best Breakthrough Hip-Hop Artist and Best Collaboration for “Princess Diana,” her track with Nicki Minaj.

Five women rappers rank among the most nominated, with Cardi B followed by Leray, GloRilla, Latto and Megan Thee Stallion.

The show will tape in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 3, and will premiere on BET one week later, on Tuesday, October 10, at 9:00 pm ET/PT.

“This year’s BET Hip Hop Awards will mark the culmination of our yearlong celebration of hip-hop’s storied creation and the art form’s sonic and cultural expansion,” Connie Orlando, BET’s EVP specials, music programming & music strategy, said in a statement. “We are honored by this year’s roster of nominees as they continue to carry the creativity and diversity of hip hop into the future. We congratulate each nominee on their accomplishments as they take hip hop artistry to new heights.”

BET promises that “the telecast will salute 50 years of hip-hop with not-to-be-missed moments and performances.”

Fans can start voting for DJ of the year, producer of the year, and best hip hop platform on Tuesday, September 12, at noon ET on the BET website, where more information about the awards is also available.

Fabolous to Perform at Atlanta’s ONE Musicfest 2023 This October

Fabolous is ready to become ONE with Atlanta…

The 45-year-old Afro-Dominican American rapper will perform at this year’s ONE Musicfest 2023.

FabolousThe festival, presented in partnership with Live Nation Urban, will take place October 28-29 at Piedmont Park in Atlanta.

Fabolous is part of a lineup that includes El Debarge, Jadakiss, Bryson Tiller and The-Dream.

Kendrick Lamar, Janet Jackson, Brent Faiyaz and Megan Thee Stallion will headline the festival.

Among the additional performers who will be featured during the two-day concert are Tems, Kodak Black, Coi Leray, Coco Jones, and Jozzy along with surprise special guests.

There will also be a special salute to the 50th  anniversary of hip-hop. Helming that celebration will be Nelly, KRS-One, Killer Mike, 8Ball & MJG, DJ Quik, DJ Drama,

Miguel to Perform at “Juneteenth: A Global Celebration for Freedom” Concert

Miguel is celebrating Freedom Day in a special way…

The 37-year-old half-Mexican American R&B singer/songwriter is set to perform at this year’s Juneteenth: A Global Celebration for Freedom, set to take place at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre.

MiguelIn addition to Miguel, the event – produced by Live Nation Urban and Jesse Collins Entertainment – will feature Kirk FranklinSWV, DavidoCoi Leray and Jodeci.

Other performers and presenters will be announced in the near future.

The show will air live worldwide across all CNN platforms & nationally on the OWN network in a dual simulcast on Monday, June 19 at 8:00 pm EST.

Throughout the concert, CNN and OWN will air programming to “uplift and educate viewers about Juneteenth on its 158th anniversary.”

Last year’s celebration included an array of artists across genres, like Yolanda Adams, Billy Porter, Earth, Wind & Fire, Jhené Aiko, Lucky Daye, Robert Glasper, and The Roots.

Cardi B to Headline Hot 97’s Summer Jam in June

Cardi B is preparing for a steamy summer

This year, renowned New York radio station Hot 97 is looking to shake things up with its annual performance staple, Summer Jam, by selecting the 30-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning rap superstar to headline the event on June 4 at UBS Arena.

Cardi BCardi B will bring her laundry bag of hits, including Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers “Bodak Yellow,” “WAP,” “Up” and more.

The Bronx dynamo will have a practice round when she headlines Rolling Loud Thailand on April 13-15 along with Travis Scott and Chris Brown.

In June 2022, Cardi B headlined Wireless Festival, and in December, she reportedly netted $1 million for a 35-minute set at Art Basel.

“I got payed 1 million dollars to perform at this elite bankers private event for 400 people and only for 35 minutes,” she tweeted in response to a mocking her “backyard set.”

In addition to Cardi B, Hot 97 has enlisted several female upstarts to perform along with the touted superstar, including Ice Spice, GloRilla, Coi Leray and Lola Brooke.

More New York representatives will also hit the stage at UBS Arena, notably French Montana, Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign. To commemorate 50 years of hip-hop, The LOX will lead the way.

Younger artists such as NLE Choppa, Kenzo B, 2Rare, Sha EK, McVert and TQ will perform at a pre-festival show hosted by Montana. According to the radio station, more acts will be announced later.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, April 8 at 10:00 am.

Anthony Ramos to Compete in MLB’s All-Star Celebrity Softball Game

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and actor will compete in Major League Baseball’s All-Star Celebrity Softball Game.

Ramos, who starred in the film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award-winning musical In The Heights, will compete alongside QuavoJoJo SiwaRob Lowe, CC Sabathia, Simu Liu, Chloe KimCoi Leray, Zachary Levi, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jennie Finch, Andre Ethier, Desus Nice, The Kid Mero, The Miz, Lauren Chamberlain, Natasha WatleyLele Pons and Lisa Fernandez.

The All-Star Saturday Extra Innings concert, All-Star Futures Game and the All-Star Celebrity Softball Game are all included with the purchase of an All-Star Saturday ticket, which are now available to purchase at AllStarGame.com.

Ticket prices currently range from $25 to $140. Gates at Dodger Stadium open at 2 p.m. on July 16 with the first 10,000 fans to receive a special All-Star souvenir giveaway.

Kid Cudi to Co-Headline This Year’s Governors Ball at New York’s Citi Field

The 37-year-old half-Mexican American singer/rapper is set to co-headline the 2022 Governors Ball festival at Citi Field in Queens, New York.

The event will also feature sets from Migos, Jack Harlow, Louis the Child, Black Pumas, Skepta, Beabadoobee, Flume, Roddy Ricch, YG, Tove Lo, Denzel Curry, Playboi Carti, Glass Animals, Kaytranada, Clairo, Becky G, Jazmine Sullivan, Japanese Breakfast, 100 Gecs and many more.

Tickets for the event go on sale on Thursday, January 27 at noon ET on the event’s website; a special presale for three-day and one-day passes and VIP tickets will open exclusively for Citi cardmembers from 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday (Jan. 25) through 11:59 a.m. ET on Thursday (Jan. 27).

In a release announcing this year’s event, promoters Founders Entertainment also said that they’ll be donating $25,000 to the New York City Mayor’s Fund for the victims of January’s devastating Bronx apartment building fire that killed 17 and injured dozens of others; attendees can also support the victims of the blaze by donation to the relief effort via The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City.
