Guillem Morales to Direct the Revenge Thriller “The Duchess of Malfi”

The 46-year-old Catalan Spanish film and television director/writer will direct the revenge thriller The Duchess of Malfi.

From Miriam Segal’s Good Films Collective, the film will star Morfydd ClarkSam Riley and Dominic Cooper.

Luke Garrett has adapted the classic Jacobean play by John Webster. The story follows the recently widowed Duchess (Clark) who falls in love with her steward Antonio. Their union sets in motion a conflict with her cruel and vengeful brothers, the Cardinal and Ferdinand, who enlist the spy Bosola to keep her from escaping their control.

Additional cast includes Freddie Fox and Frank Dillane.

Producing are Segal, who also helped develop the script, and Paul Brennan (The Infiltrator). DoP Pawel Edelman, costume designer Carlo Poggioli and editor Joe Randall-Cutler are also aboard.

Morales previous credits include the films Julia’s Eyes and El Habitante Incierto, as well as the television series The Miniaturist.

First Trailer Released for Andy Garcia’s “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”

Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the sequel to Mamma Mia! The Movie, starring the 61-year-old Cuban actor.

The sequel shifts back and forth in time to show how relationships forged in the past resonate in the present.

Ten years after Mamma Mia! The Movie grossed $610M worldwide, everybody’s back on the Greek island of Kalokairi for an all-new original musical based on the songs of the Swedish pop sensations.

All of the original cast returns including Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Amanda Seyfried, Dominic Cooper, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard.

Garcia is new to the island, along with Lily James showing off some pipes as Young Donna, Alexa Davies, Jessica Keenan Wynn, Jeremy Irvine, Josh Dylan and Hugh Skinner.

Cher also turns up in the trailer above as grandmother Ruby Sheridan.

Ol Parker writes and directs the sequel from a story by Catherine Johnson, Richard Curtis and Parker.

The musical comedy will open domestically in the U.S. on July 20, 2018.

Kid Cudi to Star in “Need for Speed” Film

The 28-year-old part-Mexican American singer/music producer-turned-actor has been cast in DreamWorksNeed for Speed, the film adaptation of the EA video game to be directed by Scott Waugh.

Need for Speed, which stars Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper and Imogen Poots on ’70s-style fast-paced high-octane cars. Paul plays Tobey Marshall, who races cross country at impossible speeds from New York to Los Angeles to get revenge on the man who killed his best friend.

Mescudi will play Paul’s best friend in the film.

Kid Cudi, as he’s known in the music world, made his acting debut in HBO’s How To Make It In America and most recently appeared in the indie film Two Night Stand. He’s also had a guest-starring roles on The Cleveland Show and One Tree Hill.

Mescudi, who has worked with Kanye West, David Guetta and most recently Jaden Smith, has contributed to soundtracks for DreamWorks’ Fright Night and The Hunger Games, which earned him an MTV Movie Award nod.

Rapace Stars Opposite Colin Farrell in Revenge Film “Dead Man Down”

The 33-year-old half-Spanish actress and Prometheus star and Farrell get caught in the crosshairs of revenge in Dead Man Down, the new film from Niels Arden Oplev, the man behind Rapace’s critically aclaimed 2009 Swedish film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

In Dead Man Down, Rapace’s character Beatrice becomes a victim to an underground crime lord in New York City, Alphonse Hoyt, played by Terrence Howard.

Beatrice then looks to exact revenge, and to achieve her goal she seduces Alphonse’s right hand man, Farrell’s character Victor, before blackmailing him into killing his own boss. It so happens Victor is also seeking to avenge the death of his wife and daughter at the hands of his boss. As the film progresses, Victor and Beatrice’s intense chemistry leads them spiraling into payback delivered in violent catharsis.

With a supporting cast that includes Dominic Cooper, Raw Leiba, Isabelle Huppert and Puerto Rican actor Franky G, the R-rated movie is set for a March 8 release in the U.S.

FilmDistrict has announced an April 5, 2013 release date for Dead Man Down, which stars Rapace and Colin Farrell.

In the Niels Arden Oplev-helmed film, Farrell stars as Victor, a professional killer and the right-hand man to an underground crime lord in New York City who’s seduced and blackmailed by Rapacae’s character Beatrice, a crime victim seeking retribution.

In addition to Rapace and Farrell, the cast includes Terrence Howard and Dominic Cooper.

In addition Rapace, the original Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, is set to star opposite Rachel McAdams in Brian DePalma’s latest thriller Passion.

Rapace Brings “Passion” To Her Latest Film

She may be starring in the highly anticipated sci-fi thriller Prometheus… But it looks like Noomi Rapace’s follow-up project will showcase her passionate side.

The 32-year-old Half-Spanish actress—who most recently appeared in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows—will be starring opposite Rachel McAdams in Brian De Palma‘s latest thriller Passion. And, if the first of the film’s on-set photos is any indication, Rapace and McAdams will be steaming up the screen.

Sporting daring red lipsticks, Rapace and McAdams are pictured in an intimate scene where they are about to lock lips.

Passion— a loose remake of Alain Corneau‘s 2010 French film Love Crime—follows a deadly power struggle between two women in the dog-eat-dog world of international business. Rapace stars as Isabelle, while McAdams portrays Christine.

Christine possesses the natural elegance and casual case associated with someone who has a healthy relationship with money and power. Innocent, lovely and easily exploited, her admiring protégé Isabelle is full of cutting-edge ideas that Christine has no qualms about stealing.

Christine takes pleasure in exercising control over Isabelle, leading her one step at a time ever deeper into a game of seduction and manipulation, dominance and humiliation. But when Isabelle falls into bed with one of Christine’s lovers, war breaks out.

The erotic thriller is set to be shopped for distribution at this year’s Cannes Film Festival later this month. Dominic Cooper, Karoline Herfurth and Paul Anderson also star in the film.
