Flavio Alves’ Debut Film “Garden Left Behind” Lands UK Deal with Bohemia Media

Flavio Alves’ debut project won’t be left behind

The 51-year-old Brazilian LGBTIQ rights activities, writer and filmmaker’s Garden Left Behind has landed a UK deal with Bohemia Media.

Alves’ film, the 2019 SXSW Audience Award, tells the story of a young Mexican trans woman and her grandmother who navigate life as undocumented immigrants in New York City.

Carlie Guevara and Miriam Cruz star. It also stars Michael Madsen, Ed Asner, Anthony Abdo, Tamara Williams, Ivana Black, Kristen Lovell, Danny Flaherty and Alex Kruz.

The film’s release is scheduled for Q1, 2021.

It was partially crowd-funded through eBay and received support from organizations like GLAAD, Jerome Foundation, NYSCA, Trans Filmmakers Project, IFP Narrative Lab, NALIP, and Film Society of Lincoln Center, among others.

Armisen Lending His Voice to NBC’s Animated Special “Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas”

Fred Armisen will be ringin’ (and singin’) in the holiday season.

The 47-year-old half-Venezuelan actor and former Saturday Night Live star has been added to the voice cast of NBC’s animated holiday special Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas.

Toplined by The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons, the animated special is set to air on December 16 at 8:00 pm ET. Parsons will voice Buddy in the special based on the 2003 film Elf starring Will Ferrell and the hit Broadway show Elf: The Musical.

Santa narrates the story of Buddy’s travels to New York City to meet the father he never knew he had. Along the way his unrelenting cheer transforms the lives of everyone he meets and opens his father’s eyes to the magic of Christmas.

In addition to Armisen and Parsons, the Voice cast also includes Mark Hamill, Ed Asner, Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Gilbert Gottfried, Kate Micucci, Rachael MacFarlane, Max Charles and Steve Higgins.

Sheen to Star in 9/11-Themed Film “September Morn”

Martin Sheen will be searching for 9/11-related answers soon…

The 72-year-old half-Spanish actor will star opposite Woody Harrelson in September Morn, a drama based on the events on 9/11.

September Morn, which is said to be similar to the film Twelve Angry Men, will be directed by B.J. Davis.

The film centers on a group that revisits and questions the independent investigation into the events of September 11, 2001, when terrorists used commercial airliners to attack the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

The film’s co-stars include La Bamba’s Esai Morales, Ed Asner, John Heard, Daniel Sunjata and Judd Nelson.

Sheen is best known for his starring role on the presidency- and White House centric series The West Wing.
