Perez’s “Based on a True Story” to Screen at the Cannes Film Festival

Vincent Perez is headed to the French Riviera…

The Cannes Film Festival has just added new films to its Official Selection list, including Roman Polanski’s Based on a True Story, starring the 52-year-old half-Spanish actor.

Based on a True Story, which also stars Eva Green, will screen out of competition.

The film is based on the novel by Delphine de Vigan and was co-scripted by Olivier Assayas. It tells the story of a writer who gets involved with an obsessive admirer after the release of her latest book.

Meanwhile, Santiago Mitre’s La Cordillera has been added to the Un Certain Regard lineup.

The 36-year-old Argentine film director’s film centers on the president of Argentina, Hernán Blanco, who is facing a very important decision. He’s participating in a meeting between different state leaders, which takes place in La Cordillera. From there, in the middle of the Summit of Latin American presidents, he will have to be able to solve a very complicated personal matter that can affect both his private and public life.

The Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 17–28, 2017.

The anticipation is building for Jessica Alba’s fiery and feisty return to Sin City

Dimension Films has released a new featurette for Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, starring the 33-year-old half-Mexican American actress.

Alba’s voice is the first you hear in the clip, which sees the town’s most hard-boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more reviled inhabitants.

“This Rotten Town, it soils everybody. Everybody,” says Alba, who returns as exotic dancer and revenge seeker Nancy Callahan for the prequel to 2005’s Sin City.

In addition to Alba, the film also stars Rosario Dawson, Callie Hernandez, Mickey Rourke, Eva Green, Juno Temple, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Lady Gaga.

Dimension Films has released a new trailer for Robert Rodriguez’s and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, featuring the 33-year-old half-Mexican American actress reprising her head-turning role as exotic dancer Nancy Callahan, which earned her an MTV Movie Award for “Sexiest Performance.”

In the trailer, Alba appears back on the bar, shaking her groove thing the same way she did in 2005. But there are also snippets of her smashing her face against a back-stage mirror and more, leaving audiences intrigued.

The ultra-violent action crime thriller and sequel to the 2005 cult classic – adapted from Miller’s neo-noir graphic novels – weaves two Sin City stories together into one hard-boiled narrative pitting the city’s thugs, lowlifes and femme fatales against each other, with a cast that includes Alba, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Juno Temple, Jaime King, Jamie Chung, Dennis Haysbert and more.

Jessica Alba’s back in the Sin City sequel… And, she’s ready to set hearts aflutter all over again, as evidenced in the just-released trailer for the film.

The 32-year-old half-Mexican American actress first caused tongues to wag when she starred as exotic dancer Nancy Callahan in Sin City. The performance even earned her an MTV Movie Award for Sexiest Performance.

Nine years later, Alba is back in the follow-up film Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. And, if the just-released trailer is any indication, she could win another MTV Movie Award.

The film, directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, is primarily based on the second neo-noir graphic novel in the Sin City series by Miller.

In addition to Alba, the film also sees the return of original cast members Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Powers Boothe, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis.

Newcomers to the sequel include Eva Green, Josh Brolin, Jamie Chung, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Christopher Meloni, Lady Gaga and Jeremy Piven.

Dimension Films will release the film on August 22, 2014.

New Trailer Released for Santoro’s “300: Rise of an Empire”

If you can’t wait until March to see Rodrigo Santoro’s 300: Rise of an Empire, you’re in luck.

The latest trailer for the follow-up to the 2007 film 300 has been released.

The clip shows Headey’s queen at what appears to be her husband’s funeral pyre, accompanied by hero Themistocles.

In addition to Santoro, reprising his role as King Xerxes, Achaemenid King of Persia, 300: Rise of an Empire also stars Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Lena Headey, Hans Matheson, David Wenham, Jack O’Connell, Andrew Tiernan, Igal Naor and Andrew Pleavin.

The film is scheduled to open in theaters March 7.

Warner Bros. Releases First Trailer for Santoro’s “300: Rise Of An Empire”

Rodrigo Santoro’s highly anticipated sequel to 300 may not be coming out until next spring, but you can get your fix now.

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for 300: Rise Of An Empire, the long-awaited sequel to the stylish 2006 hit, starring the 37-year-old Brazilian actor.

In the sequel, Persian queen Artemisia (portrayed by Eva Green) uses her “entire navy” to attack the Greeks, who are led by politician and general Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton).

The film has everything you’d expect from an action-packed period film, including swords, axes, arrows, knives, flames, ships, horses, death, destruction.

Lena Headey and Santoro reprise their respective roles as Queen Gorgo and Xerxes alongside newcomers Stapleton, Green and Hans Matheson.

Director Noam Murro’s sequel, written by Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad and based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel Xerxes, opens March 7, 2014.

Santoro to Reprise Iconic Role in “300” Sequel

He captured the attention of audiences as Persian “god-King” Xerxes in 300… And, now Rodrigo Santoro is set to reprise his creepily iconic and blinged-out role in the  sequel.

Known as the “Brazilian Tom Cruise,” The 36-year-old half-Brazilian actor has signed on to appear opposite Eva Green in the still-untitled 300 sequel from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures.

The film will begin shooting this summer, with Santoro and Green playing the villains this time around.

Santoro next stars opposite Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz in the upcoming comedy What To Expect When You’re Expecting, and he appears opposite Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen in the upcoming HBO feature Hemingway & Gelhorn.

Santoro, who rose to fame in Brazilian telenovelas, previously starred in Love Actually, Che and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.
