Alex Meneses to Appear on The CW’s “Walker”

The 56-year-old half-Mexican American actress has joined the cast of The CW’s drama Walker in a recurring role.

Meneses, who has appeared on Jane The Virgin and Why Women Kill, will play Adriana, a successful psychiatrist and published author and mother of Micki Ramirez (Lindsey Morgan), Cordell Walker’s new partner in the Texas Rangers. She’s a strong personality who’s manipulative and very invasive when it comes to her daughter Micki’s life.

Walker, which launched in January, has become The CW’s most-watched series premiere in five years and has been renewed for a second season. It stars Jared Padalecki as Walker, a widower and father of two with his own moral code, as he returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years.

The series, a reimagining of CBS’ long-running 1990s action/crime series Walker, Texas Ranger, hails from Rideback and CBS Studios.

Meneses is coming off feature film The Wall of Mexico and has also appeared in Everybody Loves RaymondThe Goldbergs, CSI and Prison Break.

The 52-year-old half-Mexican American actress and former Telenovela star has landed a recurring role on the upcoming fourth season of The CW’s hit dramedy Jane the Virgin.

Meneses will play Katherine, owner of the Cortes Hotel Conglomerate, who is a possible investor of Rafael (Justin Baldoni) and Petra’s (Yael Grobglas) hotel.

There are few details about the Season 4 storyline, but Jane the Virgin creator/executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman told Deadline after the Season 3 finale that the fourth season would be about “recapturing the joy.”

“I want to see Jane fight for her joy,” she said. “I want to see her go after her happiness. I want to see her open herself up to a new, evolved version of ‘happily ever after.’”

In addition to Telenovela, for which she was nominated for an Imagen Award, Meneses is known for her recurring role as Stefania, Brad Garrett’s Italian girlfriend on Everybody Loves Raymond.

Additional credits include The Goldbergs, CSI and Prison Break.

Nunez to Appear in ABC’s Comedy Pilot “The Winklers”

The Latino actor/comedian has been in cast in ABC’s comedy pilot The Winklers.

From Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal; Henry Winkler’s son, director Max Winkler; and son-in-law, actor Rob Reinis, The Winklers centers on Jack (portrayed by Domenick Lombardozzi), an emotionally reserved construction worker who learns about love, life and hugs while unexpectedly living with his in-laws — successful actor Henry (portrayed by Henry Winkler) and Tita Winkler (Judith Light), the fabulous, fierce momma bear of the family.

The comedy pilot is based on Henry Winkler’s relationship with his son-in-law, Reinis.

Nunez will portray Paco, a construction worker on Jack’s crew whose secret passion is dance.

Nunez is best known for his recurring role as Manche Sanchez on the show Prison Break.

His film credits include The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Pursuit of Happyness and Bridesmaids.

García to Star in “Rob the Mob”

Andy García is returning to his “mob” ties…

The 57-year-old Cuban American actor, who starred in The Godfather Part III, has joined the cast of the crime drama Rob the Mob.

Based on a true story, the Raymond De Felitta-directed film stars Michael Pitt and Nina Arianda as a couple who brazenly steal from mob-run social clubs in New York City until they stumble upon a coveted list of every mafioso in town and become the prey of the feds, the mob and their own families.

In addition to García, Pitt and Arianda, the film will also star Everybody Loves Raymond star Ray Romano.

García previously starred in De Felitta’s City Island.

Riva Cast in NBC’s Comedy Pilot “The Gates”

The 43-year-old Latina actress, who appeared in Mel Gibson’s What Women Want, has been cast in the NBC comedy pilot The Gates, a project from 20th Century Fox Television and Kapital Entertainment.

The Gates, written by Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith, is based on the British series. It’s an adult ensemble comedy set at the front gates of an elementary school drop-off and revolves around the parents, school staff and 15-minute social minefield they have to navigate at the beginning and end of each school day.

The show centers on the type-A Helen, who just moved to town with her husband Mark and their eight year-old daughter for Helen’s big new job – the VP of Product Development at Williams-Sonoma.

Riva, who most recently starred in CBS’ short-lived series iRob!, will play Lindsay, the head of the PTA who is very easily pissed off.

Riva’s television credits include appearances on The Drew Carey Show, Everybody Loves Raymond, CSI, Less Than Perfect and Castle.

Guzman Cast in ABC’s “Counter Culture” Pilot

He journeyed to a mysterious island this summer… And, Luis Guzman is preparing for his next project.

The 55-year-old Puerto Rican actor has joined ABC’s comedy pilot Counter Culture, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Revolving around three aging sisters who run their West Texas family diner together, Everybody Loves Raymond‘s Doris Roberts and A Gifted Man‘s Margo Martindale are set as two of Counter Culture’s three leads.

Guzman, whose last television gig was on HBO’s How to Make It in America, will play the cook at the diner.

This summer, Guzman starred opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.
