Peso Pluma Sweeps Regional Mexican Field at iHeartRadio Music Awards

It’s a clean sweep for Peso Pluma…

The 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards have been awarded, with the 24-year-old Mexican Grammy-winning singer sweeping all four awards in the Regional Mexican category.

In the field, Peso Pluma claimed the awards for Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Regional Mexican Best New Artist, Regional Mexican Album of the Year for Genésis and Regional Mexican Song of the Year for “Ella Baila Sola,” his collaboration with Eslabon Armado.

Karol G, meantime, registered two iHeartRadio Music Awards wins.

The 33-year-old Colombian superstar claimed Latin Pop / Urban Album of the Year for MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO and Latin Pop / Urban Artist of the Year.

Ice Spice claimed the award for Best New Artist (Hip-Hop); Selena Gomez won Best Collaboration for her Rema-collaboration “Calm Down;” Robert Trujillo and Metallica won Rock Album of the Year for 72 Seasons, Shakira won Latin Pop / Urban Song of the Year for Bizarrap-collab “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53;” and Young Miko was named Best New Artist (Latin Pop / Urban).

Peso Pluma Announces Dates for Arena Trek ‘2024 Exodo Tour’

Peso Pluma is hitting the road…

The 24-year-old Mexican star has revealed the dates for his 2024 Exodo Tour, set to kick off on May 26 at the Sueños Festival in Chicago.

Produced by Live Nation, the North American leg of the arena trek will include more than 35 shows, with stops in New York, Miami, Dallas, Las Vegas, San Diego and more before wrapping October 11 in Montville, Conn.

According to a press release, fans can expect an “all-new show, inclusive of a fully reimagined set design and setlist” with his live band in tow. Peso’s upcoming trek follows his first-ever tour last year.

His first reported Boxscore was an April 8 concert at the Toyota Center in Ontario, Calif., where he grossed $988K and sold more than 8,000 tickets, according to Billboard Boxscore. He finished the 2023 tracking period with two $2 million shows in Hidalgo, Texas, and Chula Vista, Calif.

His 2023 run landed him at No. 47 in the all-genre Top 100 Tours, grossing a total of $48.8 million across 39 shows, according to Billboard‘s year-end Boxscore charts.

Peso Plu,a’s breakthrough year was marked with 26 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, all of which he entered in 2023 alone. His history-making album Génesis peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 — the highest ranking for a Regional Mexican album — and he most recently won his first Grammy, taking home the gramophone for best música mexicana album (including tejano) for Génesis.

Tickets are set to go on sale Friday, February 23, at 10:00 a.m. local time at LiveNation.com.

Ice Spice Earns Four Grammy Award Nominations, Including Best New Artist Nod

Ice Spice is celebrating her first-ever Grammy nominations…

The 23-year-old half-Dominican American rapper/singer-songwriter has earned four Grammy Award nods, including one for the coveted Best New Artist award.

Ice Spice, the most nominated Latinx artist this year, is up for Best Rap Song and Best Song Written for Visual Media for her Barbie collaboration with Nicki Minaj featuring Aqua, “Barbie World,” which appears on Barbie The Album.

Her fourth nod comes in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the remix to Taylor Swift’s “Karma.”

Robert Trujillo is up for three Grammys.

The 59-year-old half-Mexican American musician and his Metallica band mates are up for Best Rock Performance for “Lux Æterna,” Best Metal Performance for “72 Seasons” and Best Rock Album for 72 Seasons.

Adrian Quesada and the 46-year-old Mexican American musician, producer and songwriter’s Black Pumas group mate, Eric Burton, have earned a nod in the Best Rock Performance for their single “More Than a Love Song.”

Mexican American Latin Grammy darling Edgar Barrera is nominated for Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical. He’s the first Latino songwriter to earn a nod in the category, which was launched at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.

Peso Pluma, who was snubbed for Best New Artist, earned his first Grammy nod. The 24-year-old Mexican Regional Mexican Artist earned the nod in the Best Musica Mexicana Album (including Tejano) for Genesis.

Kirstin Maldonado and her Pentatonix a capella group mates, three-time Grammy winners, have earned a nod in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category for their album Holidays Around the World.

Esperanza Spalding, who previously beat out Justin Bieber for Best New Artist, has earned a nod in the Best Jazz Performance category alongside Fred Hersch for “But Not for Me.”

Other Latinx nominees include Vince Mendoza, Pablo Alborán, Maluma, Pedro Capó, Karol G, Juanes and Lila Downs.

The ceremony takes place on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena, and will broadcast on CBS and Paramount+. The annual Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony precedes the event.

Peso Pluma to Perform at This Year’s Billboard Music Awards

Peso Pluma is ready to bring Regional Mexican music to the masses…

The 24-year-old Mexican Música Mexicana star will perform at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, which will take place on Sunday, November 19.

Peso Pluma will perform “Rubicón,” a corrido — powered by prickly guitars — from his chart-topping album Génesis.

The performance will include a special guest appearance by boxing legend Mike Tyson, who is a self-declared Peso Pluma superfan. Over the summer, Tyson posted a video promoting Génesis, saying, “Ahhh, it’s my sh–!” when one of the songs starts playing.

Peso Pluma is a Billboard Music Awards first-time finalist, and is up for five total awards, including top new artist, top Latin artist, top Latin male artist and top Latin album for Génesis, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and spent 15 weeks at No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart, the most for a regional Mexican album.

He’s also a finalist in the top Latin song category with two entries there: “Ella Baila Sola” with Eslabon Armado and “La Bebe” with Yng Lvcas.

Peso Pluma was a top winner at October’s Billboard Latin Music Awards, taking home eight awards, including artist of the year, new.

Taylor Swift is the top finalist at the 2023 BBMAs with nods in 20 categories.

Bad Bunny and Peso Pluma are the top Latinx nominees (six each), with Eslabon Armado, Karol G and Selena Gomez coming in next (five each).

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards will have a first-of-its-kind collaboration with Spotify “Fans First,” which will bring fans up close and personal with their favorite artists. Performances and awards will roll out across the BBMAs and Billboard social channels, as well as via BBMAs.watch on Sunday, Nov. 19. Peso Pluma Earns Third No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart with Gabito Ballesteros & Junior H Collab “Lady Gaga”

Peso Pluma has another chart-topper…

The 24-year-old Mexican singer-songwriter’s “Lady Gaga,” his collaboration with Gabito Ballesteros and Junior H, rises 3-1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart dated September 30.

The song, one of 17 tracks from Peso Pluma’s Top Latin Albums No. 1 Génesis, gives Ballesteros and Junior H their first champ on the chart.

“Lady Gaga” advances to No. 1 on the multi-metric tally fueled by a streaming surge during the September 15-21 tracking week. According to Luminate, the song registered 13 million U.S. official streams; a 23% gain from the week prior. The gain pushes the song from No. 36 to No. 25 on the overall Streaming Songs chart and No. 2-1 on Latin Streaming Songs.

Sales also helped push the song up Hot Latin Songs: “Lady Gaga” gained a 33% in digital sales, to a little over 500 downloads sold, jumping 7-6 on Latin Digital Songs. Hot Latin Songs blends streaming data, digital sales, and airplay.

Ballesteros and Junior H nab their first No. 1s on Hot Latin Songs. Ballesteros previously reached No. 6 through the three-way collab “AMG,” also with Peso Pluma and Natanael Cano, in February. Junior H’s highest peaking song arrived with the co-billed “Luna,” likewise with Peso Pluma (chart dated July 8).

Pluma, meanwhile, claims his third champ and replaces himself at No. 1 as “Qlona,” with Karol G, drops 1-2, while “Ella Baila Sola,” with Eslabon Armado, falls 2-3.

Beyond its coronation on Hot Latin Songs, “Lady Gaga” rebounds 53-37 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 after its debut and peak at No. 35 in July, while concurrently ascends to a new peak on Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, from No. 24-16 on the current chart.

Peso Pluma Breaks Bad Bunny’s Record for Most Simultaneous Tracks on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart

Peso Pluma is making history…

The 24-year-old Mexican singer/songwriter, whose third studio album Génesis recently earned him a first No. 1 on any Billboard album chart, has placed a total 25 titles on the Hot Latin Songs chart in the week ending June 29, according to Luminate.

In the process, Peso Pluma breaks the record for the most simultaneous tracks on the tally, surpassing Bad Bunny’s 24-title record, held since May 1, 2022, concurrent with the week his Un Verano Sin Ti album arrived on the album charts.

With 101.8 million streams, Peso Pluma’s 17-track set Genesis boasts the largest streaming week ever for a Regional Mexican album.

As a result of Génesis’ strong streaming performance, 10 of its cuts debut on the Hot Latin Songs chart, which blends streams, airplay and sales to rank the 50 most popular Latin songs in the U.S. “Luna,” with Junior H, leads the new arrivals at No. 5, with 13 million official on-demand streams earned in the U.S.

Since Peso Pluma’s maiden entry on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart in April 2022, the Regional Mexican juggernaut has placed 31 total entries on the list, including his collab with Eslabon Armado, “Ella Baila Sola,” which leads the survey in its 13th week, and counting. The song concurrently dominated Billboard Global 200 for six weeks — the most for a Spanish-language tune. Plus, the pair-up logged a historic top 10 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first regional Mexican top 10 in the chart’s 64-year history.

Further, “Rosa Pastel,” with Jasiel Nuñez, conquers Hot Latin Songs as the Greatest Gainer/Streaming song of the week with a robust 113% gain, to 6.4 million clicks in the U.S. during the June 23-29 tracking week.

In addition to his impressive achievements this week, Peso Pluma debuts seven songs on the Hot 100. With the newcomers, he has a total of 14 concurrent titles on the all-genre ranking, the most for a regional Mexican artist ever and the second-most among all Latin artists, behind Bad Bunny who placed 22, 20 and 17 simultaneous songs during the May 21-, May 28-, and June 4, 2022-dated charts, respectively.

Peso Pluma Earns First No. 1 on Any Billboard Album Chart with “Genesis”

Peso Pluma is celebrating his first No. 1 on any Billboard album chart…

The 24-year-old Mexican singer/songwriter’s album Génesis rises to No. 1 (from No. 35) on the Top Latin Albums chart dated July 8 after its first full tracking week.

It also advances 10-1 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart.

Génesis’ coronation arrives a week after the album debuted on both lists dated July 1 with only one day of activity. The original version of the album, comprising 14 tracks, was released on an off-cycle Thursday (June 22), the final day of the June 16-22 tracking week.

The new Génesis, containing three bonus tracks, was released on June 30. Both versions of the album have been combined for tracking and charting purposes, while the original version has been removed from platforms.

According to Luminate, Génesis earned 73,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. during its first official tracking week ending June 29. It becomes the biggest week by units earned for a regional Mexican album ever, dating back to when the all-genre Billboard 200 chart began ranking by units in December 2014. The previous largest week by total units arrived just less than two months ago, when Eslabon Armado’s Desvelado launched with 44,000 units (May 13-dated list).

An equivalent album unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album (track equivalent album units, TEA), or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album (streaming equivalent album units, SEA).

As is standard among new artists, streaming powers nearly all of Génesis’ first-week totals. Out of its 73,000 units, 72,000 stem from SEA units. That figure equals to 101.18 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs. Traditional album sales contribute just under 1,000 of the remaining balance, with a slice of negligible units deriving from TEA.

With 101.8 million streams, Génesis boasts the largest streaming week ever for a regional Mexican album. Previously, Eslabon Armado’s Desvelado drew the largest, with 63.51 million official U.S. streams (May 13).

Génesis becomes only the fifth Latin album to garner at least 100 million on-demand streams for its songs in a single week, following multiple weeks by Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti, two for Bunny’s YHLQMDLG, one for Bunny’s El Último Tour del Mundo, and one for Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito.

Further, Génesis becomes the fourth regional Mexican effort to lead Top Latin Albums this decade, after Alejandro Fernández’s Hecho en México (one week, Feb. 29, 2020) and two Eslabon Armado albums, Vibras de Noche (one week, Aug. 2020) and Desvelado (one week, May13).

Elsewhere, Génesis launches at No. 3 on the all-genre Billboard 200, his first entry and top 10 there. The set concurrently outpaces the two other regional Mexican albums which have seized a spot in the top 10, both by Eslabon Armado: Nostalgia (No. 9 debut and peak, May 2022) and Desvelado (No. 6 debut and peak, May 13).

Peso Pluma to Drop New Album “Genesis” in Late June

Peso Pluma is returning with new music this month…

The 24-year-old Mexican singer/songwriter will drop his new album, Genesis, on June 22, the Regional Mexican star has announced.

The “Por Las Noches” singer also unveiled the set’s star-studded tracklist with songs featuring some of his go-to collaborators such as Natanael Cano, Junior H, Luis R Conriquez and Jasiel Nuñez.

While it’s not his debut album — the Guadalajara-born artist released Ah Y Qué? in 2020 and a year later Efectos Secundarios — it feels like a momentous LP given the winning streak that has catapulted him to the top of the charts in the last few months.

Rapidly becoming a household name in the U.S. and beyond, Peso has now become the first artist to dominate both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global 200 Excl. U.S. simultaneously with two different songs: The blockbuster hit “Ella Baila Sola” with Eslabon Armado and his unprecedented “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 55” with Bizarrap, which dropped in May.

The album announcement comes weeks after his collab with Argentine producer Bizarrap who, thanks to Peso, experiments with regional Mexican music for the first time for one of his music sessions.

The song scored the Mexican singer his ninth top 10 song on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart. Elsewhere, “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 55” makes its No. 31 debut on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 ranking dated June 17.

Bad Bunny Makes Forbes List of ‘World’s 10 Highest-Paid Entertainers’

Bad Bunny is makin’ money moves…

Forbes has revealed its list of the World’s 10 Highest-Paid Entertainers, who, combined, made more than $1.3 billion last year, with the 28-year-old Puerto Rican superstar making the list.

Bad Bunny came in at No. 10 with $88 million, and he can attribute much of his financial success to his massive El Último Tour Del Mundo and The World’s Hottest Tour, plus endorsements from Corona, Cheetos and Adidas.

Topping the list are Genesis and Sting, who made $230 million and $210 million, respectively, thanks to selling their music.

Among the other major artists on the list was Taylor Swift, James Cameron and Brad Pitt.

Prince Royce’s “Alter Ego” Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums Chart

Prince Roycenow has a handful of chart-topping albums…

The 30-year-old Dominican American singer has earned his fifth No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart dated February 22 as Alter Ego debuts at the summit.

The set earned 11,000 in equivalent album units in the week ending February 13, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Of that sum, 8,000 were in album sales, while the bulk of the remainder was generated by streaming activity.

The double album consisting of the chapters Genesis and Enigma is the first set by a tropical music act to bow at No. 1 since Romeo Santos’ Utopíadebuted atop the tally nearly a year ago (April 20, 2019-dated chart.)

“I made this double album to give the fans a different musical journey,” Royce tells Billboard. “It feels great that people have embraced it, that it has debuted at No. 1.”

Royce’s sixth studio album, released via Sony Music Latin on February 7, got a sales boost in its first week thanks to eight in-store appearances the artist made during its release week in Florida, New York, Los Angeles, Illinois and Texas.

It’s the biggest sales week for a Latin album since Santos’ Utopía, which sold 9,000 units in its opening week (April, 20, 2019-dated chart).

Top Latin Albums ranks the most popular Latin albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

Alter Egoregistered 3,000 SEA units, which equates to 4.8 million on-demand streams for the set’s tracks in its debut week.

Alter Ego is Prince Royce’s fifth No. 1, and third consecutive set to debut at No. 1. He previously hit No. 1 with Five(March 18, 2017), Soy El Mismo(October 26, 2013), Phase II (April 28, 2012) and his self-titled album (April 23, 2011). HIs only charting album to miss the top was a greatest hits package titled #1’s, which peaked at No. 3 on December 8, 2012.

The new album was preceded by four songs on theHot Latin Songs chart, which blends airplay, streams and digital sales, starting with “El Clavo,” featuring Maluma (No. 13 high, September 2018), “Adicto,” with Marc Anthony(peaked at No. 33, December 2018), “Cúrame,” with Manuel Turizo (No. 31, July 2019) and “Morir Solo” (No. 35, October 2019).

“It also feels great that I will soon be performing these songs in more than 40 U.S. cities on my Alter Ego Tour,” the 30-year-old adds. “All of this happening 10 years into my career is a wonderful blessing.“

Beyond its Top Latin Albums coronation, Alter Ego concurrently debuts at No. 1 on Tropical Albums, the first No. 1 debut of the year on the chart.
