Gerardo Ortiz Releases Décimo Aniversario Album to Commemorate His Decade-Long Career

Gerardo Ortiz is celebrating a music milestone…

The 31-year-old Mexican American singer-songwriter and Regional Mexican star has released his 10th studio album Décimo Aniversario to commemorate his decade in music.

The 11-track set reflects Ortiz’s versatility featuring hard-hitting corridos, mariachi ballads and banda.

On one end of the spectrum, the album features hard-hitting corridos like “Don Jesús” and “Gente de Joaquín.”

If corridos aren’t your thing, there’s also cumbia and slowed-down ballads like “Mi Niña Bonita” and “Y A Mí Que Me Queda.”

“I wanted to make an album for the pueblo,” says Ortiz about Décimo Aniversario. “Something my grandma or my aunt can listen to at home.”

Gerardo Ortiz is returning to his roots…

Following the release of “Otra Botella,”a hybrid tune that fuses mariachi with reggaetón-pop with Gente de Zona, the 31-year-old Mexican American singer-songwriter returns with a corrido titled “El Perro.”

“With this corrido, I return to my roots where I write real stories, and this is a song that my audience can relate to,” Ortiz says.

The lyrics of “El Perro” represent various Mexican proverbs that express authentic morals.

The track will be part of Ortiz’s forthcoming album, Décimo Aniversario, that will celebrate his 10-year career.

Darell Releases Sophomore Album “LVV the Real Rondon”

Four years after releasing his debut album La Verdadera Vuelta, the Puerto Rican rapper, singer and songwriter returns with his sophomore set titled LVV the Real Rondon.

Featuring 16 tracks, the album kicks off with “Un Barrio,” a mambo-infused trap song that tells the story of Darell’s upbringing. “From the hood, that’s where I’m from,” the lyrics go. Songs like “Bandolero,” “LVV En Su Piel” and “Llorando” bring to the forefront a Latin trap and hip-hop-heavy production.

In his Kiko El Crazy-assisted track “Dinero Facil,” Darell experiments with dembow melodies, and on “Billetes de 100” with Gerardo Ortiz, he doesn’t shy away from experimenting with artists of other genres.

LVV the Real Rondon includes collaborations with Miky Woodz, Pablo Chill-E, Juanka, Ñengo Flow, KEVVO, De La Ghetto and Young Hollywood.

Jessie Reyez to Perform at This Year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards,

Jessie Reyez is celebrating her Latin roots…

The 29-year-old Colombian-Canadian singer and Grammy nominee will perform at this year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards, which are less than a month away.

Reyez joins a roster of newly confirmed A-list artists set to perform at the Billboard awards show.

Reyez joins a roster of new additions to the lineup that includes Anuel AA, Banda MS, Carlos Vives, Chesca, Daddy Yankee, Kendo Kaponi, Luis Fonsi, Manuel Turizo, Pablo Alborán, Paulina Rubio, Pitbull, Rauw Alejandro, Raymix, Reik, and Yandel.

They join the previously announced performers Armando Manzanero, Black Eyed Peas, Farruko, Gente de Zona, Gerardo Ortiz, Jesse & Joy, Maluma, Myke Towers, Ozuna, Sech, and Wisin.

The 2020 BLMAs, led by top finalists Bad Bunny and Ozuna, are the only awards show to honor the most popular albums, songs, and performers in Latin music, the awards are determined by the actual sales, streaming, radio airplay, and social data that informs Billboard‘s weekly charts during a one-year period from the rankings dated February 2, 2019, through this year’s January 25 charts.

The event is coinciding with Billboard’s Latin Music Week 30th anniversary, a three-day virtual experience dedicated to Latin music, culture, and entertainment, The Billboard Latin Music Awards 2020 will broadcast live from the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida on October 21 via Telemundo.

Gerardo Ortiz Teams Up with Gente de Zona for New Mariachi-Reggaeton Track “Otra Botella”

Gerardo Ortiz is expanding his musical universe with an exciting collaboration…

The 30-year-old Mexican singer and Regional Mexican star has joined voices with Gente de Zona on the new single “Otra Botella.”

On the new track, a mariachi tune comes on and Ortiz starts singing about heartbreak before a massive plot twist… Gente de Zona’s Alexander takes over the track that transforms into a reggaeton-pop track.

The song then continues to go from mariachi to rhythmic for the duration of the song, as the artists step out of their comfort zone in their first collaboration Gente de Zona and Ortiz.

“We had this song finished for our new album but then we found out that there could be a possibility of singing it with Gerardo, which is great cause we had been wanting to collaborate with someone from the regional Mexican genre,” Gente de Zona’s Randy tells Billboard. “It was an honor to work with him and he gave the song that touch we were looking for. We made a great team.” Alexander adds, “we had mariachi music on there but not like a live mariachi so when Gerardo came on, he decided to bring on a real mariachi because, he said, ‘a real Mexican is going to find out that we hadn’t used a real one.’ We thought the end result was spectacular.”

Jesse & Joy to Perform at This Year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards

Jesse & Joy are returning to performing in October…

The Latin Grammy-winning Mexican sibling duo will take the stage at this year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Jesse & Joy, comprised of Jesse Huerta Uecke and Joy Huerta Uecke, join a roster that includes Ozuna, Gerardo Ortiz, Farruko, Gente de Zona, Sech, Myke Towers and The Black Eyed Peas.

Jesse & Joy released their latest album, Aire (Versión Día), in May.

The awards show is set to take place on October 21 live from the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida, which boasts of a state-of-the-art set including five distinct stages to accommodate multiple live performances.

Aside from show-stopping performances, the show will also celebrate Latin music’s finest, and honor this year’s finalists, which include Bad Bunny, Ozuna, Daddy Yankee, J Balvin and Karol G, among others.

The complete list of finalists were announced earlier this year with Bad Bunny and Ozuna leading the list with 14 mentions each. Daddy Yankee and J Balvin both have 12 finalist mentions; Anuel AA has 11; and Farruko has 10.

Prince Royce Readyng for a Busy 2020 with New Album & Tour

Prince Royceis preparing for a busy new year…

The 30-year-old Dominican American singer is planning to release a new album and go on tour in 2020.

Prince Royce’s new album is titled Alter Ego and is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of next year.

“I’m playing a little bit with a duo alter ego concept which is different,” he says. That’s why he is constantly exploring the idea of collaborating and recording in other genres, such as Regional Mexican, which he did recently, first with Gerardo Ortiz(Moneda) and later with Calibre 50 for a performance at the 2019 Latin Grammy Awards. “The idea is not to change who you are or change your sound, it is to bring your sound into that vision.”

Last month, Royce announced a new tour that includes 40 cities in the United States, the largest (so far) of his career.

“I’m doing the biggest tour — over 40 cities, it’s almost double the dates I did on my last tour and I’m really excited that I will visit places I’ve never been before,” he revealed. Also, the tour will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the release of his debut album, Prince Royce.

Kevin Ortiz Signs with SESAC Latina for Worldwide Representation

Kevin Ortiz is ready to take over the world…

The Regional Mexican rising star has joined the SESAC Latina roster for worldwide representation, excluding Mexico.

“Kevin launched his career at a very young age and has shown a commitment to working on his skill set and evolving for the next phase of his career,” says Celeste Zendejas, SESAC Latina Director of Creative Services in a press statement. “He is an outstanding addition to our roster of Regional Mexican creative talent, and we’re thrilled he has joined the SESAC Latina family.”

So far, Kevin Ortíz has already released three albums and scored six songs on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart including “La Niña Más Linda,” “A Los 18,” “La Indicada,” and “Un Minuto.”

Ortíz debuted in 2012 after collaborating with sibling Gerardo Ortiz in the “Tal Como Eres.”

Camacho’s Tribute Album Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Albums Chart

Ariel Camacho posthumous tribute album tops the charts..

The late Mexican singer-songwriter debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Albums with Para Siempre: Duetos, Vol. 1 (2,000 units).

The star-studded duet set blends Camacho’s original recordings with new vocals by other stars in the genre, including Gerardo Ortiz and Luis Coronel.

The set is a tribute to Camacho, former lead singer of Ariel Camacho y Los Plebes del Rancho, who was killed in a car accident two years ago, at the age of 22.

Prince Royce’s “Five” Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums Chart

Prince Royce is reigning supreme…

The 27-year-old Dominican American singer crowns Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart (dated March 18) four a fourth time, as his latest studio album, Five, arrives with 19,000 album equivalent units earned in the tracking week ending March 2, according to Nielsen Music.

Prince Royce’s set bows at No. 25 on the all-genre Billboard 200.

Of that sum, 16,000 were in traditional album sales, which is the biggest sales frame for a Latin album since Gerardo Ortiz’s Hoy Mas Fuerta bowed at No. 1 with 20,000 sold on the June 6, 2015-dated list.

Five marks Royce’s first Spanish-language arrival since Soy El Mismo topped the chart for two weeks in 2013 — and follows his previous English-language release, Double Vision, which landed at No. 21 on the Billboard 200 on the August 15, 2015 chart.

Elsewhere, Five’s current single “Deja Vu,” featuring Shakira, hops 18-13 on Hot Latin Songs in its second charting frame, aided in part by a 17 percent increase in sales (to 3,000 downloads). The rise bumps the track 2-1 on the Tropical Digital Song Sales chart, notching Royce his fifth chart-topper.

A music video for “Deja Vu” was recently shot and is expected to be released sometime in March. Five also includes features by Chris Brown, Zendaya and Farruko, among others.
