Rodriguez to Appear Opposite Gina Rodriguez on the CW’s “Jane the Virgin”

Adam Rodriguez is entering virgin territory…

The 40-year-old Puerto Rican/Cuban-American actor has landed a guest-starring role on the CW’s Jane the Virgin.

Adam Rodriguez

Rodriguez, who will appear on several episodes of Empire this season,

will recur on network’s telenovela-based comedy as Jonathan, Jane’s (Gina Rodriguez) very critical writing professor who doesn’t believe in coddling students. Complications, naturally, ensue.

“In the writers room, we broke this arc with Adam in mind and we are all so thrilled to have him,” said Jane the Virgin showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman in a statement. “Wahooo!”

But Rodriguez, who recently starred on the big screen in Magic Mike XXL, has been tapped for another project this season…

He’s set to direct episode 12 of Scorpion’s sophomore season.

CBS Television Studios, which produces both series, has a longstanding relationship with the actor. He starred on CSI: Miami for 10 years, during which time he wrote and directed two episodes. He most recently starred in the studio’s summer legal drama Reckless.

Rodriguez’s other credits include Roswell, Ugly Betty and The Night Shift.

Jane the Virgin’s new season premieres Monday, October 12 at 9 pm ET on The CW.

Scorpion airs Mondays at 10 p.m. on CBS.

Netflix Acquires International Streaming Rights to Rodriguez’s “Jane the Virgin”

Gina Rodriguez is bringing her Virgin tales to Netflix

The on-demand Internet streaming media company has acquired the international subscription streaming rights to The CW’s Jane The Virgin, starring the 31-year-old Puerto Rican actress, in more than50 countries around the world.

Gina Rodriguez in Jane the Virgin

That is in addition to the domestic SVOD rights to the CBS Television Studios series, which Netflix already owns in a separate deal with CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television for previous seasons of the CW series.

Rodriguez stars as Jane Villanueva in The CW comedy-drama series, for which she won a Golden Globe Award.

Season Two of the series is set to debut on October 12, 2015.

Rodriguez “Freakin’ Stoked” About Britney Spears’ Upcoming Appearance on “Jane the Virgin”

Gina Rodriguez is ready to bust a move to one of her childhood favorites…

It was announced earlier this week that Britney Spears will guest-star on the CW‘s cult hit Jane the Virgin this season. And the 31-year-old Puerto Rican actress couldn’t be more excited, saying Spears “is my childhood.”

Gina Rodriguez

“I just want to do the dance from ‘…Baby One More Time‘ with her on set … and record it,” Rodriguez told People magazine. “I want to do that so badly!”

The Golden Globe-winning actress is “so freakin’ stoked” to have Spears on set. “She was literally the first pop star I ever knew existed.”

Spears will appear in the fifth episode of the upcoming second season as the nemesis of Jane’s dad, telenovela star Rogelio De La Vega (Jaime Camil).

Jane the Virgin returns for its second season on October 12 on the CW.

Rodriguez’s “Jane the Virgin” Returning to the CW on October 12

Gina Rodriguez is bringing Virgin back one week earlier…

The CW’s comedy Monday lineup, including the 31-year-old Puerto Rican actress’ hit series Jane the Virgin, will launch a week earlier than originally planned.

Gina Rodriguez in Jane the Virgin

Jane The Virgin will debut on Monday, October 12, instead of October 19 as previously announced, along with new hourlong comedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

The decision was made after CW affiliates, including the station in the No. 1 market, New York, informed the network of NFL pre-emptions on October 19.

Feeling that it was crucial to make the two premieres available to all fans for sampling on opening night, the CW moved them up a week.

Episode 2 of both shows will now air on October 19.

Rodriguez Attached to Star in Alloy Entertainment’s “Purple Hearts”

Forget red! Gina Rodriguez is seeing purple…

Alloy Entertainment has attached the 30-year-old Puerto Rican actress, who won a Golden Globe this year for her starring role in the CW’s Jane the Virgin, to Purple Hearts, a film project that Alloy commissioned internally by Alloy Entertainment Features with The Sessions writer-director Ben Lewin attached to direct.

Gina Rodriguez

Written by Kyle Jarrow, it’s a love story about an aspiring musician and a soldier who marry under false pretenses but eventually find true love.

Lewin’s The Sessions starred Helen Hunt.

In addition to her role in Purple Hearts, Rodriguez is expected to star opposite Mark Walhberg in Deepwater Horizon.

Rodriguez in Negotiations to Star in “Deepwater Horizon”

Gina Rodriguez may soon find herself in deepwater

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican actress, who won a Golden Globe this year for her starring role in the CW’s Jane the Virgin, is in talks to star opposite Mark Walhberg in Deepwater Horizon, the oil rig disaster drama to be directed by Peter Berg for Lionsgate.

Gina Rodriguez

The story unfolds on Deepwater Horizon, the infamous British Petroleum oil rig that caught fire and exploded on April 22, 2010 while drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, killing 11 crew members and resulting in the largest offshore oil spill in United States history.

Walhberg is starring as an electrician on the rig, and Rodriguez would play the movie’s female lead, the communications officer for the company.

Deepwater will mark Rodriguez’s biggest feature to date, following her Golden Globe win for best performance in a television series in the comedy/musical category for her work on Jane the Virgin.

Rodriguez previously earned rave reviews and an Imagen Award for her performance in the indie feature Filly Brown.

Lopez: The Best-Dressed Latina at the 2015 Academy Awards

She may not be an Academy Award nominee, but Jennifer Lopez is certainly Oscars red carpet royalty.

Jennifer Lopez

The 45-year-old Puerto Rican actress, singer and American Idol judge, who served as a presenter during this year’s awards show, earned Best-Dressed Latina honors on this year’s red carpet.

Lopez, always fond of making a dramatic entrance, turned heads in a nude-hued Elie Saab dress that featured a voluminous skirt, intricate beading, and long train.

A high ponytail, muted makeup, and diamond earrings rounded out Lopez’s glamorous look.

But la Lopez wasn’t the only Latina to make a statement on the red carpet.

Zoë Saldaña, a presenter at this year’s awards show, returned to the Oscars red carpet in a major way only three months after welcoming her twin boys.

The 36-year-old half-Dominican/half-Puerto Rican American actress dazzled in a form-fitting champagne-colored custom Atelier Versace gown, as well as a $1 million Neil Lane diamond collar necklace.

Petra [Flannery], my stylist, called and it was custom made for me,” Saldaña told Us Weekly of her Versace creation.

gina-rodriguez-oscars-2015

Gina Rodriguez, making her first appearance on the Oscars red carpet, walked the carpet in a stunning blue silk dress, flashing her pearly white smile.

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican actress, who won her first-ever Golden Globe last month for her performance on the CW’s Jane the Virgin, tweeted about her special gown.

It comes from Suzy Amis Cameron‘s Red Carpet Green Dress eco-fashion campaign and was designed by Manon Gabard, a Parisian fashion student.

As Gina explained in a Twitter post just an hour before the red carpet:

“#Oscars2015 ready and in my sustainable 100% certified peace silk gown (god I ❤ peace silk) for the @RedCarpetGreenD @JakeMcDorman BOOM!,” tweeted Rodriguez, who completed her look with an Edie Parker clutch and wearing Platinum jewelry.

Genesis Rodriguez, whose film Big Hero 6 won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, arrived in sizzling style.

The 27-year-old Venezuelan- and Cuban-American actress, wowed in a body hugging Vivienne Westwood dress, Charlotte Olympia shoes, a Jimmy Choo clutch, and Norman Silverman jewelry.

america-ferrera

Last but certainly not least, America Ferrera hit the Oscars red carpet in an airy, ombré Jenny Packham gown that appeared to simply float across the red carpet.

The former Ugly Betty star, whose film How to Train Your Dragon 2 was nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, accessorized her sheer overlay frock with a dark red hexagonal clutch and Irene Neuwirth jewelry, including a sharp pair of turquoise drop.
