Rivera Lands Recurring Role on Eva Longoria’s “Devious Maids” Sudser

Naya Rivera is downright devious

The 28-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress/singer has agreed to a recurring role on Marc Cherry’s Lifetime series Devious Maids.

Naya Rivera

Rivera will portray Blanca, a new maid in the neighborhood who has landed a job with the seemingly picture-perfect Beverly Hills family.  But she soon discovers a terrible secret–something that could change her life forever.

It’s Rivera’s first major acting commitment since wrapping the final season of Glee.

Additionally, Rivera, who is in talks for a book deal, has reportedly been asked back on ABC’s morning talk show The View and will do several more episodes as co-host this month. She previously did two appearances in November and two more last month, with virtually all producing soundbites that have gone viral, boosting The View’s social media presence.

There had been speculation that the producers of the embattled daytime talk show may have bigger plans for Rivera, and her return for more guest co-hosting is further in the fuel that.

Michele to Star in Fox’s Anthology Series “Scream Queens”

Life is but a scream for Lea Michele

The 28-year-old part-Spanish actress/singer has landed a role in Scream Queens, the follow-up Fox series from Glee creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan.

Lea Michele

The first installment in the new anthology series revolves around a college campus, which is rocked by a series of murders. Fifteen one-hour episodes have been ordered.

Production is scheduled to begin in the spring, with the series premiering in fall 2015 on Fox.

Also joining the cast are Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) and Keke Palmer (Akeela and the Bee). Additionally, Ariana Grande will have a recurring role.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Emma Roberts were previously cast in starring roles.

Michele Performing “Let It Go” on the Upcoming Final Season of Fox’s “Glee”

Lea Michele is ready to let it go

Full audio of the 28-year-old part-Spanish singer belting out the instaclassic Frozen song “Let It Go” from the upcoming season of Fox‘s musical dramedy Glee has surfaced.

Lea Michele

While it comes as little surprise that Michele’s character Rachel Berry is covering one of the biggest songs of 2014, fans will quickly note that there’s something a little extra special about this cover.

Idina Menzel, who performs the song for the film’s soundtrack, portrays Rachel’s biological mom on the series. The two even memorably performed “I Dreamed a Dream” together on the show, among other performances.

It’s been said the two Broadway alums have a similar sound, and Michele’s cover of “Let It Go” is no exception.

The Final Season of “Glee,” with Rivera & Lea Michele, Returning on Fridays in January

Naya Rivera is preparing for Foxy Fridays starting in January…

Fox has announced plans to air the 13-episode final season of Glee, featuring the 27-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress/singer and Lea Michelle, on Fridays at 8:00 pm ET.

Rivera, who portrays Santana Lopez on the musical dramedy, is returning as a recurring guest star for Glee’s sixth and final season.

Glee will return with a two-hour season premiere on Friday, January 9.

Aguirre-Sacasa to Script Mark Burnett & Roma Downey’s Faust-Based Drama Series

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has landed a devilish project…

The Nicaraguan-American playwright, screenwriter and comic book writer is set to pen a drama series based on the classic German legend of Faust.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa

From husband and wife duo Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, the executive producers of The Bible and the upcoming follow-up A.D., Faust is described as a faith-based medical procedural and a contemporary take on the popular tale about a scholar who sells his soul to the devil for ultimate knowledge, which will explore questions of faith and the supernatural in a grounded, realistic way.

Set in Washington, DC, the Aguirre-Sacasa-penned drama centers on an ambitious surgeon forced to confront a terrible truth: That he may lose everything good in his life—his job, his family, his very soul—when a diabolical stranger from his past arrives, to collect on a bargain they made thirteen years earlier.

Aguirre-Sacasa will executive produce with Burnett and Downey.

The series hails from Downey and Burnett‘s LightWorkers Media, the faith and family division of United Artists Media Group, Burnett and Downey’s joint venture with MGM and Hearst.

Aguierre-Sacasa serves as the Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics. His film and television credits include Big Love, Glee and the 2013 Carrie remake.

Guzman to Star in the Baseball-Themed Film “That’s What I’m Talking About”

Ryan Guzman is ready to play ball

The 26-year-old half-Mexican American actor has signed on to star in director Richard Linklater’s baseball-themed film That’s What I’m Talking About.

Ryan Guzman

Guzman will take on one of the lead roles in the 1980s-set film about a college freshman who moves into a fraternity-like baseball house with his hard-partying teammates.

Guzman, who starred in this summer’s Step Up All In, has the background for the part: He was a college pitcher before turning his attention to acting.

Additionally, offers are reportedly out for Glee’s Blake Jenner, Teen Wolf’s Tyler Hoechlin, and 22 Jump Street’s Wyatt Russell.

Guzman next stars opposite Jennifer Lopez in Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions’ thriller The Boy Next Door in early 2015. He’ll also portray Rio in the Jon M. Chu-directed Jem and The Holograms.

Michele to Perform “Frozen” Hit “Let It Go” on “Glee”

Lea Michele’s about to take on an ice-cold hit made famous by her on-screen mother…

Confirming buzz from last week, the 28-year-old part-Spanish American actress and Glee star on Friday tweeted a photo of herself filming a performance of “Let It Go” from Frozen.

Lea Michele on Glee

“I don’t care.. What they’re going to say.. Let the storm rage on.. The cold never bothered me anyway…” tweeted Michele, along with a photo of her in a stunning evening gown.

Michele’s character Rachel Berry will indeed channel her inner Elsa — for the show’s sixth season premiere, slated to air sometime in 2015.

Interestingly, “Let It Go” is performed in Frozen by Idina Menzel, who portrayed Michele’s character’s biological mother on Glee.

As previously reported, the Fox musical dramedy’s final season will find the gang returning to Lima, Ohio, to revive the New Directions, along with a few other no-longer-surprise twists.

It’s a dreaded time for Alfonso Gomez-Rejon is

MGM has released the first trailer for the Latino film and television director’s horror meta-remake The Town That Dreaded Sundown, which hails from producers Jason Blum and Ryan Murphy.

Alfonso Gomez-Rejon

Following the events of the low-budget 1976 slasher from Charles B. Pierce, The Town That Dreaded Sundown picks up decades after the Phantom Killer terrorized rural Texarkana when the murders start again and a teenager (Californication’s Addison Timlin) finds herself in the killer’s sights.

It’s Gomez-Rejon’s first time directing a feature.

Written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the film will have its first public screening this month at Austin’s Fantastic Fest before MGM’s Orion Pictures releases it in October.

Gomez-Rejon, who was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Directing For a Miniseries for American Horror Story: Coven, has directed several episodes of Glee and American Horror Story. He also directed an episode of The Carrie Diaries and the pilot for Red Band Society.
