Rodriguez Lands Recurring Role on ABC’s “Quantico”

The 32-year-old Latina actress and Broadway star has landed a recurring role for the second half of the second season of ABC’s Quantico.

Rodriguez will play Maxine “Max” Griffin, the intelligent, passionate and fiercely driven founder of “the Roster,” a network and visibility platform for professional women committed to helping one another rise. A DC insider who wants to change the way politics treat women, Max is not to be messed with – in her personal or professional life.

Rodriguez, who originated the role of Wednesday Addams in the 2009 Broadway musical The Addams Family, stars in the NBC mockumentary Trial & Error. She previously starred in the second season of Smash as Ana Vargas, followed by the Broadway musical comedy First Date.

Additional television credits include Mysteries of Laura, Gossip Girl and Chasing Life.

de la Fuente to Star in the CW’s “Dynasty” Reboot Pilot

The 30-year-old Venezuelan actor has been cast as a series regular on the CW’s Dynasty pilot, a reboot of the iconic 1980s primetime soap.

Co-written by Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Sallie Patrick and directed by Brad Silberling, the new Dynasty follows two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children.

de la Fuente will play Sam, a cute schemer who has a one night stand with Steven, the rebel son of Blake Carrington (Grant Show).

de La Fuente was recently seen in the praised ABC miniseries When We Rise and recurs on Fox’s Empire as Michael Sanchez.

Freestyle Digital Media Acquires North American Rights to Robledo’s “Dependent’s Day”

Freestyle Digital Media has picked up the North American rights to Dependent’s Day, a millennial love story starring the Latina actress.

The film explores what happens to men when women are the breadwinners.

Directed by Michael David Lynch, the relationship comedy follows Cam (Joe Burke), an unemployed actor who is claimed as a dependent by his successful girlfriend Alice (Robledo). As he stumbles from one humiliating job to the next, Cam still tries to keep his dream alive as well as his relationship. Will he ever rise to the occasion? Will Alice have the patience to find out?

Lisa Ann Walker, Shannon Lucio, Brian George and Todd Bridges co-star in the film, which won the Audience Award for Comedy at the 2016 Cinequest Film Festival.

An October 18 video on demand launch is planned.

Robledo’s other credits include film appearances in Going the Distance and What Happens in Vegas, as well as television roles in Teen Wolf, Agent Carter and Gossip Girl.

Lozano Lands Role on Netflix’s “Narcos”

The 46-year-old Argentine American actress, best known for portraying Téa Delgado on the soap opera One Life to Live and General Hospital, has landed a series regular role opposite Wagner Moura and Pedro Pascal on Season 2 of the Netflix drama series Narcos.

Written by Chris Brancato and directed by Jose PadilhaNarcos is the true-life story of the growth and spread of cocaine drug cartels across the globe and attendant efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict.

Lozano will play DEA agent Claudia Messina.

She appeared in the feature film Amok alongside Josh Hamilton and Juliet Rylance. She’ll next be seen in Amy Makes Three.

Her television credits include appearances on The Mysteries of Laura, Blue Bloods, Royal Pains, Ugly Betty and Gossip Girl.

Garcia Swisher to Star in ABC‘s Drama Series “Astronaut Wives Club”

The 34-year-old half-Cuban American actress has been cast as one of the leads in ABC‘s drama series Astronaut Wives Club, which was recently picked up for the summer with a 10-episode straight-to-series order.

Written by Stephanie Savage and based on Lily Koppel’s novel, the project comes from ABC Studios.

It tells the real story of the women who stood beside some of the biggest heroes in American history during the height of the space race.

Garcia Swisher will portray Betty Grissom, the wife of one of the original astronauts. A bouncy redhead with curls askew and a folksy Hoosier accent, she’s got a down-home appeal, which endears her to the public.

Astronaut Wives Club extends Swisher’s relationship with ABC and ABC Studios following her recent arc as The Little Mermaid Ariel on their hit series Once Upon A Time.

Garcia Swisher’s other credits include Better with You, Reba, Gossip Girl, Royal Pains and How I Met Your Mother.

Garcia to Guest Star on Fox’s “The Mindy Project”

The 34-year-old half-Cuban actress has been cast in the Fox comedy The Mindy Project in a potentially recurring role, according to TVLine.

Swisher will portray the sister of Dr. Peter (Adam Pally).

She’s slated to appear for one episode at the moment, but she could be back for a second.

Fans of the show are also set to meet Dr. Danny’s brother, Richie, played by The Social Network‘s Max Minghella, this season.

Swisher, who is best known for her roles on Reba, Privileged, Gossip Girl and Royal Pains, most recently guest-starred on ABC’s Once Upon a Time.

The Mindy Project airs Tuesdays at 9:30/8:30c on Fox.

Fumero Cast in Fox’s Andy Samberg Comedy Pilot

Melissa Fumero is joining Samberg’s force

The 30-year-old Cuban-American actress has been named the female lead in Fox’s untitled Mike Schur and Dan Goor comedy pilot, starring former Saturday Night Live star Andy Samberg.

The comedy pilot centers on a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the edge of New York City.

Fumero, best known for for her role as Adriana Cramer on One Life to Live, will portray Amy, an attractive and smart police detective who was raised in the outskirts of Manhattan. Before joining the force, she was a middle-school teacher. When it comes to dating, she doesn’t date fellow police officers, even though there are a ton of prospects in the line of fire.

Along with her One Life to Live stint, Fumero’s credits include appearances on Gossip Girl, The Mentalist and CSI: New York.

She’s married to her former OLTL co-star David Fumero, who portrayed Cristian Vega on the soap opera.

Garcia Expecting Her First Child

It looks like JoAnna Garcia will be on diaper duty in the near future…

“So happy to finally be able to share our news!” tweeted the 33-year-old half Cuban American actress on November 12 about starting a family with husband Nick Swisher. “Nick and I are expecting our first baby in 2013! Feeling so blessed and beyond excited!”

Garcia and Swisher went into more detail about their news via Swisher’s Facebook page.

“Words can’t describe how blessed we feel to be expanding our family and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new addition,” wrote the happy couple. “Your support and kindness has meant so much to us throughout the years and we wanted to personally share the news with you all.”

Garcia, who most recently appeared on NBC’s short-lived series Animal Practice, and Swisher, 31, got hitched in December 2010 after a seven-month engagement. The star-studded wedding party included Reba McEntire, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Lance Bass.

Garcia’s television credits include Reba, Privileged, Gossip Girl, Better With You and Freaks and Geeks.

Until recently, Swisher was the right fielder and first baseman for the New York Yankees; he is currently a free agent after declining a $13.3 million one-year qualifying offer from the team.

Guzmán to Guest Star on “Person of Interest”

The Latina actress will guest star in an episode of CBSPerson of Interest next season, according to TVLine.

The actress—who most recently starred as Ezra’s ex-fiancée Jackie Molina on Pretty Little Liars—will play the beautiful, smart, spoiled and hard-partying daughter of a Brazilian diplomat.

Guzmán, a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, has appeared on A Gifted Man, Gossip Girl, The Good Wife and CSI: Miami.

Person of Interest returns for its second season Thursday, September 27 at 9:00 pm ET.

 

Romo: First-Time Father

There’s a new(born) Cowboy in Dallas…

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and his wife Candice Crawford welcomed their first child on Monday, according to People.

“Hawkins Crawford Romo is now a part of the Dallas Cowboys family,” a Cowboys spokesperson said in a statement. “All is well with mom.”

Hawkins weighed in at 8 pounds, 8 ounces.

The 31-year-old Mexican American football star and Crawford—the 25-year-old younger sister of Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford married last May after dating for nearly a year and a half.

Romo was previously linked to Jessica Simpson and Carrie Underwood.
