Café Tacvba to Give First-Ever Performance at SXSW

It’s turning out to be a busy year for Café Tacvba

The Mexican alternative rock band will give their first-ever performance at the SXSW Film Conference and Festival.

Café Tacvba  will headline a March 14th lineup at the SXSW Auditorium Shores Stage in Downtown Austin that will include opening sets from Molotov and Bajofondo.

It’s the band’s latest booking for 2013…

Prior to Café Tacvba’s trip to Austin, the band will perform at the at the 4th Green Festival of Musical Culture on February 23 in Ciudad del Saber on the banks of the Panama Canal.

Band members Rubén Albarrán, Emmanuel “Meme” del Real, José Alfredo “Joselo” Rangel and Enrique “Quique” Rangel will also perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California on Saturday, April 13th.

The Café Tacvba concerts will include live performances of songs from El Objeto Antes Llamado Disco, which iTunes editors named the best Latin album of 2012. The album, the band’s first new release in five years, has been called “ambitious, groundbreaking and quite simply, superb… another masterpiece… forty minutes of pure musical bliss!”

Café Tacvba to Perform at Panama’s Green Festival of Musical Culture

Café Tacvba will be spreading its green message through music in Panama later this month…

The Mexican rock band, which earned Best Album honors for their latest album El Objeto Antes Llamado Disco from iTunes editors last year, will perform at the 4th Green Festival of Musical Culture on February 23 in Ciudad del Saber on the banks of the Panama Canal.

Known for supporting conservationist activities, Café Tacvba – comprised of members Rubén Albarrán, Emmanuel “Meme” del Real, José Alfredo “Joselo” Rangel and Enrique “Quique” Rangel– will share the stage with fellow Mexicans of the Telefunka group plus colleagues from Chile, Colombia and Panama, festival organizers said.

The Green Festival has established itself as an occasion for promoting environmental sustainability based on criteria for its efficient organization, development and production.

Besides Cafe Tacvba and Telefunka, this year’s festival will feature Chile’s Astro, Colombia’s Monsieur Perine and Alfonso Espriella, and the Panamanians Cienfue, Carlos Mendez, Pureza Natural, Orquesta Garash, Os Almirantes, Calibre 57 and DJ Rhythm X, according to organizers.

Following their appearance at the Green Festival, Café Tacvba will perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California in April.
