Luis Avila to Star in the Indie High School Comedy “Divos!”

The Latino actor has joined the cast of the indie high school comedy Divos!

Ryan Patrick Bartley will make his feature-film directorial debut from a screenplay by Matt SteeleJayson Bernard and Roberto Rosario Jr.of J&R Productions are producing along with In the Basement Entertainment. The film is executive produced by Bernard.

In Divos!, Ricky Redmond (Steele) is South Hamilton High School’s musical stage star whose turf is encroached upon in his senior year when the school’s baseball MVP Josh Kelly (Timothy Brundidge) gives him a run at auditions. ​Mustering up some team spirit, Ricky takes Josh under his wing to teach the rookie actor the ins and outs of being a teenage divo —or male diva. The tables turn and soon Josh attempts to sabotage Ricky’s school stardom.

The cast includes Jake BuseyNicole Sullivan, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Jason Stuart, Julia Boyd, Chris Schermerhorn, Daniel Kim, Quinn Lozar, Josh Schechter and Cougar MacDowall.

Molina to Star in NBC’s Comedy Pilot “Assistance”

For his next project, Alfred Molina will need a little assistance

The 59-year-old half-Spanish actor, who currently stars on TNT’s Monday Mornings drama series, will be starring opposite Krysten Ritter in the NBC’s comedy pilot Assistance.

The project, from Universal Television, centers on Nora (portrayed by Ritter), an idealistic “working girl” assistant who is pulled between her colleague and her real-life fiancé while trying to manage her demanding boss Daniel (Molina).

Molina’s character is described as a very successful film producer with a large presence and thick intensity.

Along with his award-winning performance in Chocolat, Molina’s film credits include Spider-Man 2, An Education and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. His television credits include performances in Law & Order: LA and Harry’s Law.
