It looks like JoAnna Garcia will be on diaper duty in the near future…

“So happy to finally be able to share our news!” tweeted the 33-year-old half Cuban American actress on November 12 about starting a family with husband Nick Swisher. “Nick and I are expecting our first baby in 2013! Feeling so blessed and beyond excited!”

Garcia and Swisher went into more detail about their news via Swisher’s Facebook page.

“Words can’t describe how blessed we feel to be expanding our family and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new addition,” wrote the happy couple. “Your support and kindness has meant so much to us throughout the years and we wanted to personally share the news with you all.”

Garcia, who most recently appeared on NBC’s short-lived series Animal Practice, and Swisher, 31, got hitched in December 2010 after a seven-month engagement. The star-studded wedding party included Reba McEntire, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Lance Bass.

Garcia’s television credits include Reba, Privileged, Gossip Girl, Better With You and Freaks and Geeks.

Until recently, Swisher was the right fielder and first baseman for the New York Yankees; he is currently a free agent after declining a $13.3 million one-year qualifying offer from the team.

Garica—who was recently announced as the female lead in NBC’s upcoming comedy series Animal Practice—is set to portray Vaughn’s girlfriend in the Shawn Levy-directed comedy, which will feature Vaughn and Wilson as two middle-aged guys who lose their jobs and have to start at the bottom in the new American workforce.

Interns will be filming in Atlanta this summer.

This is the former Reba and Better With You star’s first feature film since 2006’s A-List and 2001’s Not Another Teen Movie and American Pie 2.

Garcia Cast in NBC’s Fall Comedy “Animal Practice”

It’s official… JoAnna Garcia is returning to network television this fall…

The 32-year-old half-Cuban/half-Spanish American actress has been cast opposite Justin Kirk in NBC’s new fall comedy series Animal Practice.

Joanna Garcia

In the office comedy, Kirk stars as George, a House-like veterinarian who loves animals but usually despises their owners—especially the new woman who runs the clinic. Garcia will portray that woman—George’s intelligent and beautiful old girlfriend now engaged to another, who is assigned to run the animal hospital.

Garcia, who previously starred in Better With You, replaces Amy Huberman who played the role in the pilot.

Along with Garcia and Kirk, Animal Practice co-stars Tyler Labine and Bobby Lee.

Garcia was originally attached to a family comedy project written by Better With You creator Shana Goldberg-Meehan. When that project didn’t go to pilot, she was quickly cast as the female lead in CBS’ untitled Greg Malins/Greg Berlanti comedy pilot, which came thisclose to a series order but ultimately missed the cut. Garcia was immediately approached about starring in Animal Practice and, after negotiations and a chemistry read with Kirk, was cast in the role.

Garcia’s Ariel Adventure?

Once Upon A Time’s Lana Parrilla could soon be sharing screen time with fellow Latina actress Joanna Garcia.

The 32-year-old half-Cuban-American actress could reportedly make guest-star on ABC’s new hit series, playing The Little Mermaid.

During the American Music Awards, Once Upon A Time’s Jennifer Morrison told E! Online producers of Garcia’s possible involvement on the show.

“They are after Joanna Garcia for one of the roles, which would be amazing,” revealed Morrison

While Morrison didn’t specify which role the “Gossip Girl” and “Reba” star would fill, PerezHilton.com is reporting that she’ll play The Little Mermaid’s Ariel in a yet-to-be determined episode.

Once Upon A Time—which has already featured Snow White and Cinderella—is ABC’s breakout hit of the season.

Garcia’s Atypical Honeymoon Plans

Newlyweds Joanna Garcia and Nick Swisher won’t be sippin’ piña coladas on a tropical beach somewhere during their upcoming honeymoon.

The 31-year-old half-Cuban actress married the New York Yankees outfielder in Florida last December, and they’re finally going on their honeymoon… to visit American soldiers in Afghanistan.

“Three military officers came to the Yankee locker room and asked if any of us would like to visit the troops,” Swisher recently told the New York Post. “My hand went straight up, I said, ‘I’m in.’ I knew Joanna would want to go. It will be our first trip since we got married.”

“We are both really looking forward to visiting the troops,” Garcia added. “Yes, it isn’t a traditional honeymoon, but it is something we both feel strongly about.”

Swisher told the Post why they both felt so compelled. “I come from a military family … and no matter what your views are, these men and women are out there risking everything for us. I realize how fortunate I have been, so I like to give back at every opportunity I can.”

But the couple may make a pit stop on the return trip home for a more intimate honeymoon experience.

“We’ll probably make a stop in Europe on our way back,” teased Garcia, who most recently starred in the ABC sitcom, “Better With You.”
