Esai Morales to Star in DC’s “Titans” Series

Esai Morales has landed a Titan-ic role…

The 56-year-old Puerto Rican actor has been cast in the series Titans.

Esai Morales

He’ll portray Deathstroke, the fan-favorite assassin and archenemy of Teen Titans leader Dick Grayson.

The Titans, the first original programming franchise for the DC Universe subscription steaming site, launched in September and finished its first season in December. The weekly show follows the superhero squad that’s led by Batman’s former sidekick, Robin, aka Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites), and includes the hot-tempered alien princess Starfire (Anna Diop), the mysterious empath Raven (Teagan Croft), and the green-skinned shape-shifter Beast Boy (Ryan Potter).

That Titans line-up of characters was introduced with much fanfare in the pages of DC Comicsback in 1980. The team, created by Marv Wolfmanand George Perez, didn’t have to wait long to find their signature antagonist: Deathstroke the Terminatorwas introduced in issue No. 2 of The New Teen Titans in December 1980.

The character bio from the show’s producers: “Slade Wilson is known for being DC’s deadliest assassin. While serving his country, Slade became an elite soldier before government testing enhanced his physiology to near superhuman levels, putting him on a path of darkness and revenge. To his family, Slade is a father and husband, but to the rest of the world, he is feared by many as the infamous Deathstroke; selling his services to the highest bidder as the ruthless assassin that never gives up and never misses.”

The character is well known to fans of the popular Teen Titans animated series from Cartoon Network as well as the show’s 2018 tie-in feature film Teen Titans Go! to the MoviesDeathstrokehas also been portrayed by Manu Bennett in 36 episodes of The CWseries Arrow while Joe Manganiello (True Blood) appeared as the assassin in the 2017 feature film Justice League but only with an uncredited cameo.

The DC Comics character represents an interesting footnote in Marvel Comicshistory. The character Deadpool, portrayed by Ryan Reynoldsin the popular R-rated Foxfilm franchise, was created by Fabian Niciezaand Rob Liefeldin 1990 as a thinly disguised version of the DC villain. Not only do the characters share similar costumes, Deadpool’s alias is Wade Wilson, which in fact rhymes with Slade Wilson.

Adding a bit more confusion, both Deadpool and Deathstroke have similar attributes to Deadshot, a DC Comics villain introduced in the 1970s and portrayed by Will Smithon the big screen in Suicide Squad in 2016.

Morales, rose to acclaim in his feature film breakthrough role as Bob Morales in Taylor Hackford’s La Bamba, the landmark 1985 biopic about Ritchie Valens.

Vergara Collaborates with CoverGirl to Create Custom Lipstick Shade for Her Wedding Day

Sofia Vergara’s in love… And, she’s got the lipstick to prove it…

For her wedding to actor Joe Manganiello on Sunday, the 43-year-old Colombian actress and Modern Family star wanted to make sure her makeup went the distance through dancing, cake and kissing.

Sofia Vergara Wedding

So Vergara collaborated with CoverGirl, with whom she has worked as a brand ambassador since 2011, to create a custom shade to wear on her special day.

Named, “Sofia in Love,” the rich crimson shade has the same technology in it as CoverGirl’s Outlast Longwear lipstick, so that the bride wasn’t saddled with the pressure to stop the reveling and have to reapply.

Plus, since the color was customized, Vergara could get the exact hue that best suited her overall wedding day vision.

“I knew I wanted a lipstick for the wedding that was either a red or a pink. I want a color that is going to make the lips pop!” says the actress. “I think when you’re wearing a white dress, you can really play with the lip color and do something really fun.”

Unfortunately, this particular shade of lip color was created solely for Vergara and her nuptials. But, the Longwear lipstick formula makes sense when aiming for a lip color that both lasts and hydrates; brides-to-be will just have to choose a different hue from the 11 other shades in the Outlast collection.

They can also get inspired by Vergara’s journey to the altar and other beauty products she loves for getting her bombshell look, through her wedding prep videos posted on her website, sofiavergara.com.

Vergara Ties the Knot with Joe Manganiello in Dream Wedding

Sofia Vergara is officially Mrs. Manganiello.

The Colombian actress married actor Joe Manganiello at a Florida tourist resort on Sunday night, while surrounded by friends and family.

Sofia Vergara & Joe Manganiello Wedding

The wedding ceremony started at 7:00 p.m. and was attended by celebrities, including Reese Witherspoon, Channing Tatum, Roselyn Sanchez, Arnold Schwarzenegger and producer Harvey Weinstein, according to CBS News. Vergara walked down the aisle, dressed in a white long-trail gown and donning Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, hand in hand with son Manolo, while Manganiello wore a John Varvatos tuxedo for his big day. Vergara, the best paid U.S. television actress according to Forbes magazine, shared photos from the event on Instagram, which showed the décor by celebrity floral artist and artistic director of the Four Seasons George V Hotel, Jeff Leatham.

We have all heard that it is bad luck for the groom to see bride in her wedding dress before the ceremony. The truth is that a longer standing tradition says that it is bad luck for the bride to wear the complete wedding outfit before the day that she takes her wedding vows. That is why you almost never see a bride trying on a wedding dress with her wedding shoes, veil and so on. A female college friend of mine knew a young girl who decided to ignore that tradition and display her complete wedding outfit to her bridal party for the purpose of having “some photos taken with her friends” the night before her wedding. So she said, most of those present think she was just showing off. The dress seemed unusually tight to some who saw the bride all decked out that night and soon gossiping tongues spread the news quickly. The next day the groom decided not to show up for the ceremony after my college friend said that she called and told him that his bride looked “fat or pregnant” when she saw the bride in her outfit the night before. My friend was not being mean, but she felt sorry for the groom who had gone out of his way to keep his bride pure (she had claimed to be a virgin) by abstaining from sex with her. He had never seen her in the wedding dress, but even his sister said that she noticed an unusually rapid weight gain in the bride who was not one known to fluctuate in her weight or overeat. There could have been a lot more to the story than that, but I have no doubt that the catalyst for the groom’s cancellation was that phone call from my friend and the call would never had been made if the bride had not been showing off and scoffing at a long-standing tradition. Smoky Mountains wedding locations At the Enchanted Valley Barn, not a day goes by where we are not reminded of our heritage.

Leatham created a dream aisle for the actor with white roses and yellow candles at The Breakers, on Palm Beach, the venue of the ceremony that was attended by 400 guests.

To safeguard privacy, organizers requested guests to leave their personal cameras and cell phones in a secure area at the venue entrance. The wedding was the culmination of celebrations over the weekend, which included a pool party at the hotel and a “rehearsal dinner” at Cafe Bouluden in The Brazilian Court Hotel. Post-dinner, the bride, the groom and the guests returned to The Breakers for a party, which went on until two in the morning where Manganiello sang Guns ‘N Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” much to the surprise of the new bride, according to People magazine.

The marriage is Manganiello’s first, and Vergara’s second. She was previously married to Jose Luis Gonzalez from whom she has a son, 23-year-old Manolo.

Vergara and Manganiello officially began dating in July 2014 and got engaged in Hawaii six months later in December.
