Hulu Renews Selena Gomez’s “Only Murders in the Building” for Third Season

Hulu has ordered a third season of the 29-year-old Mexican American actress/singer’s acclaimed series Only Murders in the Building from 20th Television.

New episodes of the current second season stream weekly on Tuesdays.

In addition to Gomez, the comedy also stars Steve Martin and Martin Short.

It hails from co-creators and writers Steve Martin and John Hoffman. Martin and Hoffman executive produce along with Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal.

Here’s the synopsis for Season 2: Following the shocking death of Arconia Board President Bunny Folger, Charles, Oliver and Mabel race to unmask her killer. However, three (unfortunate) complications ensue: The trio is publicly implicated in Bunny’s homicide, they are now the subjects of a competing podcast, and they have to deal with a bunch of New York neighbors who all think they committed murder.

Hulu has announced plans to premiere the second season of its acclaimed comedy series Only Murders in the Building, starring the 29-year-old Mexican American actress/singer, Martin Short and Steve Martin on June 28.

Hulu Renews Selena Gomez's "Only Murders in the Building" for Second SeasonThe series’ first season introduced viewers to Mabel Mora (Gomez), struggling Broadway director Oliver Putnam (Short) and semi-retired TV actor Charles-Haden Savage (Martin), three strangers who came to bond over their obsession with true crime. After a suspicious death in their New York apartment building, the Arconia, the neighbors decide to start their own podcast about their investigation of the death, which the police ruled a suicide.

Season 2 picks up with the trio following the shocking death of Arconia Board President Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell), as they race to unmask her killer. However, three (unfortunate) complications ensue—the trio is publicly implicated in Bunny’s homicide, they are now the subjects of a competing podcast, and they have to deal with a bunch of New York neighbors who all think they committed murder.

Only Murders in the Building debuted on Hulu last August and was renewed for a second season the following month.

The series hails from co-creators and writers Martin and John Hoffman, who executive produce along with Short, Gomez, This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal.

It received a SAG Awards nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

Hulu has released the latest trailer for Only Murders in The Building, starring the 28-year-old Mexican American actress/singer, Steve Martin and Martin Short.

The teaser, which the streamer dropped on Tuesday, begs the question, “How well do you know your neighbors?”

“You see many of them everyday, but have you ever wondered what goes on behind their doors?” Martin asks.

Co-created and written by Martin and John Hoffman based on an idea by Martin, Only Murders In The Building follows three strangers (Martin, Short and Gomez) who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one as they investigate the mysterious death of a neighbor in their New York City apartment building.

The trio of clueless neighbors form an amateur sleuthing group to unveil the secrets of their building and find the truth behind their neighbor’s death.

“We began with the question, ‘How well do you know your neighbors.’ Turns out the ones you knew best might be the ones you know the least,” Short adds.

Gomez, Martin and Short find secret passages, invaluable treasures and more. The teaser also provides viewers glimpses at additional cast members Amy Ryan and Nathan Lane.

Only Murders in the Building is executive produced by Martin and Hoffman along with Short, Gomez, Jamie Babbitt, This is Us creator Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal.

Hulu has released the first trailer of the 28-year-old Mexican American actress/singer’s upcoming comedy series Only Murders in the Building.

The series co-stars comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short as true-crime-loving super sleuths alongside the “Rare” singer.

The series will debut August 31 on Hulu.

“A great murder mystery unpeels itself like an onion” says Martin’s character at the beginning of the trailer. “Secrets are the fun part,” says Gomez. “Sometimes it’s easier to find out someone else’s secret than deal with your own,” adds Short.

The 28-year-old Mexican American singer/actress, who rose to acclaim as the star of the Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, will star alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short in Hulu‘s straight-to-series comedy Only Murders in the Building.

Ordered to series in January, the comedy created and written by Martin and John Hoffman revolves around three strangers who share an obsession with true crime who suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one.

Gomez will play the third stranger alongside Short and Martin.

In addition to her co-starring role, Gomez will also executive produce the series alongside Martin, Hoffman, Short, This Is Uscreator Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal. It marks Gomez’s latest executive-producing gig following Netflix‘s 13 Reasons Why and the documentary Living Undocumented.

Only Murders in the Building is Gomez’s latest acting role following her roles in Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day in New York and The Dead Don’t Die. Her other film credits include Spring Breakers, The Big Short, Monte Carlo and Fundamentals of Caring.

Gomez will next appear on HBO Max in her new cooking-while-quarantined series Selena + Chef, which will begin streaming later this month.
