The 29-year-old half-Mexican, part-Spanish American singer and her Pentatonix group mates are facing off against Wilson Phillips on Sunday night’s new episode of Celebrity Family Feud.
In a clip from the upcoming episode of the primetime ABC game show, premiering exclusively on Billboard, host Steve Harvey introduces the Grammy-winning a cappella group.
“Y’all can sing,” Harvey tells the quintet.
Harvey introduces each individual member — Scott Hoying, Maldonado, Matt Sallee, Mitch Grassi and Kevin Olusola — and pays special attention to the “smooth” pronunciation of beatboxer Olusola’s last name.
Pentatonix recently released a deluxe edition of their latest album The Lucky Ones on September 10, via RCA Records, following up the album’s initial February 12 release with seven additional songs.
One of those new tracks is “Midnight in Tokyo,” for which PTX joined forces with all-female Japanese vocal group Little Glee Monster and released a music video along with the deluxe edition.

Kirstin Maldonado is counting down to Christmas in an entertaining way…
The 28-year-old Mexican & Spanish American singer and her Pentatonix group mates are ringing in the annual countdown to the season but with a sonic twist in their new “12 Days of Christmas” music video.
Starting midway on the sixth day of Christmas, the five golden singers in the Grammy-winning a cappella group – Maldonado, Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kevin Olusola and Matt Sallee – deliver their verses with a wide range of genres, including hip-hop, electro-pop, island folk and more, predominantly backed by Olusola’s beatboxing.
“The PTX holiday cheer continues as we countdown to Christmas with our version of ’12 Days of Christmas,'” Pentatonix wrote on their social media. “We had fun putting our touch on this iconic Christmas song!”
Their funky-yet-festive rendition of “12 Days of Christmas” is the first song on their sixth holiday set We Need a Little Christmas, which peaked at No. 4 on Billboard‘s Top Holiday Albums chart, dated November 28.
The five-piece group also released holiday visuals for “Thank You” and “Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)” off the Christmas album.

In the clip, the five singers sit down with Live Nationto answer questions about the tour and get quizzed about their fellow bandmates.
“A lot of new music!” Maldonado says of what to expect, while Scott Hoyingpromises “fun,” “choreo” and “belting” at each show.
Next, the a cappella group plays a rapid-fire round of superlatives, naming which of their bandmates is the biggest prankster (Kirstin), the messiest (a toss-up) and always late (also Kirstin, though beatboxer Kevin Olusolapoints silently to himself).
Another fun fact? If the band could change their name, original members Maldonado, Hoying and Mitch Grassiall agree it would be — wait for it — Fifth Harmony! The girl group may have announced their indefinite hiatus in March 2018, but it’s a good thing CamilaCabello & Co. laid claim to the moniker during The X Factor back in 2012.

David Archuleta continues spreading holiday cheer this season…
The 23-year-old Honduran/Spanish American singer and former American Idol runner-up took center stage last weekend at the Celebration of Christ: an Interfaith Concert in Utah.
But a video of his performance has gone viral as people around the world prepare to celebrate Christmas.
Archuleta teamed up with Pentatonix singer and cellist Kevin Olusola for a moving and spiritual rendition of “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
In 2009, Archuleta released a Christmas album entitled Christmas from the Heart.
In addition to classics like “Joy to the World,” “The First Noel” and “Silent Night,” the album also featured a Christmas song penned by Archuleta himself, “Melodies of Christmas.”
The album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Holiday Albums chart.

The Streamy Award-winning a capella group’s upcoming EP, PTX Vol. III, comes out on September 23, and as a tease, their cover of Clean Bandit‘s “Rather Be” has made its way online.

Maldonado and the gang perform every part of the hit track with Kevin Olusola showing off his impressive beat-boxing skill. Meanwhile, Mitch Grassi spits the verses originally performed by Iggy Azalea in the original.
“Problem” is the lead single off Grande’s upcoming sophomore album, My Everything. The 21-year-old singer has responded to Pentatonix’s cover on Twitter, saying”Omg y’all. my favs. been waiting! better SING i love u,” she wrote.
The EP will be followed by their second holiday album, That’s Christmas to Me, which is coming out on October 21. It will include a combination of classic holiday tracks, modern favorites and a one-of-a-kind holiday mash-up.

Maldonado and her a cappella quintet members, The Sing-Off season-three champions and viral stars, is known mostly for their creative covers of pop hits like Lorde‘s “Royals” and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis‘ “Can’t Hold Us,” evolution-style arrangements and original songs.
“We are thrilled to have Pentatonix join RCA,” said RCA president and COO Tom Corson. “Their musicality and special vocal abilities have enabled them to create innovative original songs as well as re-create some of today’s biggest hits. Pentatonix is unique to our business and we look forward to working with them as we take their talents to new and exciting heights everywhere in the world.”
“We’re really excited to start this new chapter of our career with RCA,” said the group — consisting of Maldonado, Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola — in a statement. “We feel like we’ve found a home where we can truly develop our artistry with the best in the industry.”
Following their Sing-Off win in 2011, the electro-infused quintet has released three albums via Madison Gate Records (PTX Volume 1, PTXmasand PTX Volume 2, selling over 500,000 copies combined) and collected over 445 million views and more than 5.6 million subscribers on YouTube.
The group wraps its sold-out European tour on May 18, following a sold-out North American tour.
Maldonado, Hoying and Grassi joined voices to perform four of the popular songs from Disney‘s new animated hit Frozen: “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?,” “For the First Time in Forever,” “Love Is an Open Door” and “Let It Go.”
Instead of releasing an a cappella medley, the trio sings along to the karaoke tracks from the film while acting out scenes in front of a white curtain at the Endless Noise studio – complete with a blonde wig, snow made out of paper cutouts and lots of tossed pillows and blankets.
Maldonado, who could totally be the voice of Disney’s next princess character, Hoying and Grassi, who sang together in high school before recruiting more members to compete in The Sing-Off’s third season, recorded the video as part of Hoying and Grassi’s online series, Superfruit, which also recently featured singer Tori Kelly.
Bass Avi Kaplan and beatboxer Kevin Olusola don’t appear in this unofficial Pentatonix video, which has already earned nearly 800,000 views on YouTube.
Kirstie Maldonado and members of her a cappella group are $200,000 richer and have a new recording contract with Sony Music after winning NBC’s The Sing-Off.
The 19-year-old Latina singer’s five-member group Pentatonix—the smallest singing group in the reality show—beat out the Dartmouth Aires and Urban Methodin Monday’s finale to win the title…and prize package that came with it. The group won by claiming the majority of the reported three million viewer votes cast.
In all, 16 teams competed in the singing competition where participating groups couldn’t use instruments other than their own voices.
Throughout the competition, Pentatonix stood out as a small yet mighty group of talented singers and vocal percussionists, and they were praised regularly by show’s judges Ben Folds, Sara Bareilles and Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men.
Along with Maldonado—a National Hispanic Scholar and University of Oklahoma musical theatre major—Pentatonix consists of Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Kevin Olusola and Avi Kaplan.
Maldonado was credited by the judges for bringing some serious sass and class to the group as the only female member.
“I don’t even know what to say … I’m just so humbled to have shared the stage with my best friends. They’re my family,” said Hoying after winning the competition. “And these 16 amazing groups; I can’t believe this is happening.”
