Ivy Queen Making Her Acting Debut

She may be one of the most successful female Reggaeton singers, but Ivy Queen is preparing to test her limits by taking a whole different stage.

The 39-year-old Puerto Rican Latin Grammy nominated singer, commonly referred to as La Reina del Reggaeton, will make her acting debut next month in a Spanish-language production of the popular play The Vagina Monologues.

The singer, whose real name is Martha Ivelisse Pesante, says she feels “very honored” to be joining the cast for the performance in Altamonte Springs, Florida on February 26.

Ivy Queen, a spokesperson for a campaign against domestic violence in her native Puerto Rico, believes her participation will help “make women and the world more aware that we are all equal and we have the same rights.”

Written by feminist Eve Ensler, The Vagina Monologues has been translated into 49 languages and performed in more than 120 countries.

Along with Ivy Queen, the cast of the Florida production includes actress Sully Diaz, boxer Roxana Laborde and sexologist Carmita Laboy.
