Kali Uchis is celebrating the rhythm(ic)…

The 27-year-old Colombian American singer has scored her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart as “Telepatia” moves up from the runner-up spot to lead the list dated August 14.

Kali Uchis

The single’s rise makes it the most-played song on monitored rhythmic U.S. radio stations, according to MRC Data.

“Telepatia” rises to No. 1 as it essentially held steady in plays in the week ending August 8, as measured by MRC Data. The previous champ, Roddy Ricch’s “Late at Night,” vacated the top spot after it declined 2% in plays.

Uchis also wraps a slow-but-steady journey on the list: “Telepatia” reaches the summit in its 17th week on the chart, second only to the 18-week wait for Yung Bleu’s “You’re Mines Still,” featuring Drake, among 2021 No. 1s.

Uchis, who hails from Alexandria, Va., achieves her first Rhythmic Airplay No. 1 on her second chart appearance. Her only previous appearance on the chart came through a featured role on Tyler, The Creator’s “See You Again” in 2017, which cracked the chart in the anchor position — No. 40 — and lasted two weeks.

In line with its Rhythmic coronation, “Telepatia” has secured new benchmarks for Uchis’ career in multiple areas since its November 2020 release.

After the tune gained traction on TikTok in early 2021, a rush of streams powered it to No. 10 on the Streaming Songs chart in March. That activity sparked the track’s Billboard Hot 100 entrance that month and its official promotion as a single. Radio airplay, then, kicked up and helped “Telepatia” achieve a No. 25 best on the Hot 100 in July.

In addition to conquering rhythmic radio, “Telepatia” ruled the Latin Airplay chart for one week in July and earned a No. 11 high on Pop Airplay. Simultaneous success at the three formats pushes the song into the top 10 on the all-genre Radio Songs chart, where it steps 11-10 through a 3% gain in audience to 40.7 million in listenership in the week ending August 6, according to MRC Data.

While “Telepatia” represents Kali Uchis’ solo breakthrough, the singer-songwriter made her first Billboard chart splashes in featured roles on songs across multiple genres, among them, the Gorillaz’s “She’s My Collar,” a No. 36 hit on Hot Rock Songs, Juanes’ “El Ratico,” a No. 10 success on Latin Pop Airplay and the Adult R&B Airplay chart-topper “Get You” in tandem with Daniel Caesar. The lattermost title led for one week and earned Uchis her first Grammy nomination, for best R&B performance.

Luis Fonsi Earns Ninth No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Airplay Chart with Rauw Alejandro-Collab “Vacío”

Luis Fonsi is on Cloud Nine

The 43-year-old Puerto Rican singer’s single “Vacío” featuring Rauw Alejandro takes over the top spot on BillboardLatin Pop Airplay chart as the song rises from No. 3 on the May 8-dated survey.

Luis Fonsi & Rauw Alejandro

The song jumps 3-1 boosted by a 21% lift in audience impressions, to 6.7 million, earned in the week ending May 2, according to MRC Data.

Luis Fonsi earns his ninth No. 1 on the chart after “Perfecta” with Farruko reigned for two weeks starting in December 2020.

Rauw picks up his third, and second of the year, following “Baila Conmigo,” his two-week champ alongside Selena Gómez (March 13-dated list).

“Vacío” is the fourth male co-billed duet to top BillboardLatin Pop Airplay chart in 2021, one of which, as previously mentioned, also includes Luis Fonsi: “Perfecta,” with Farruko (Jan. 2).

In between, two other dual male pairings took the crown: Ozuna and Camilo’s “Despeinada” (four weeks starting Jan. 9-dated list) and Sebastian Yatra and Guaynaa’s “Chica Ideal” (three-week champ starting February 2).

“Vacío” is among a handful of songs of late to find reception among both Latin pop and Latin rhythmic audiences and radio. It continues its ascent on the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart (9-7) to become the fifth Latin pop song No. 1 of 2021 to make it to the top 10 of the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart, following four other titles which led Latin Pop Airplay before: Ozuna and Camilo’s “Despeinada,” Sebastian Yatra and Guaynaa’s “Chica Ideal,” Selena Gomez and Rauw Alejandro’s “Baila Conmigo” and Karol G, Anuel AA and J Balvin’s “Location.”

Mana Releases Revamped Version of “Eres Mi Religion” Featuring Jesse & Joy’s Joy Huerta

Mana is bringing a little Joy to one of its hit singles…

The legendary Mexican rock band has joined voices with Joy Huerta of Latin Grammy-winning Mexican duo Jesse & Joy for a revamped version of “Eres Mi Religion,” nearly 19 years after its original release.

Mana & Joy Huerta

“My loves, Maná invited me to be part of this song and it was impossible for me to resist,” Joy expressed on Instagram.

“Eres Mi Religion” is a timeless love anthem about finding your soul mate and being devoted to them.

Conserving the original’s essence, the 2021 version of “Eres Mi Religion” is still a romantic rock song. What’s different is its gospel-like intro and more instrumentation, likes the cajón. Notable is Joy’s powerhouse vocal throughout the track, beautifully harmonizing with Fher Olvera.

On the Billboard charts, the track peaked at No. 17 on Hot Latin Songs chart dated January 4, 2003, and at No. 10 on the Latin Pop Airplay chart dated January 4, 2003, earning the Mexican rock group its 10th top 10 at the time (the group has a total of 26).

It’s the latest re-do for Mana.

For two years now, the band has been sporadically releasing new versions of some of their biggest hits. In 2019, they released “Rayando el Sol” featuring Spanish crooner Pablo Alborán and “No Ha Parado de Llover” in collaboration with Sebastian Yatra.

Ozuna Earns Fifth No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Airplay Chart with Camilo Collaboration “Despeinada”

Ozuna is back at the top of the charts…

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton and Latin trap singer’s collaboration with Camilo, “Despeinada,” rises to No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Airplay chart in its 13th week on the list.

Ozuna x Camilo

The pop-rhythmic collaboration rises 2-1 with a 2% gain in airplay to 8 million in audience impressions earned in the week ending January 3.

Before “Despeinada,” Ozuna previously sat atop the chart with “Hasta Que Salga El Sol” for six consecutive weeks starting December 14, 2019.

“Despeinada’s” new high grants him his fifth No. 1, Camilo, meanwhile locks his second leader.

While the song was already a top 10 on Latin Airplay (No. 8 peak) and Latin Rhythm Airplay (No. 5; chart dated Jan. 2), it escalates to a new high on Hot Latin Songs: 19-16 in its 17th week.

Karol G Earns Eighth No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart with “Ay Dios Mio”

Make that eight for Karol G

The 29-year-old Colombian singer-songwriter has earned her eighth No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, as “Ay Dios Mio” jumps 6-1 on the October 10 survey.

Karol G

With the song’s coronation, Karol G becomes the first female artist to lead the chart in 2020 without a collaborative act. The last woman to achieve the feat was Natti Natasha with “Me Gusta” (May 18, 2019-dated list).

Earlier in 2020, before “Ay, Dios Mio!,” there were four No. 1s with either co-billed or featured female acts:

Title, Artist, Peak Date
“Tusa,” Karol G & Nicki Minaj, Feb. 15
“Mamacita,” Black Eyed Peas, Ozuna + J.Rey Soul, June 20
“Caramelo,” Ozuna, Karol G, Myke Towers, Aug. 15
“Relacion,” Sech, Daddy Yankee & J Balvin Featuring ROSALIA & Farruko, Sept. 26
“Ay, Dios Mío!” hits No. 1 assisted by a 30 percent increase in audience impressions, to 11 million, earned in the week ending Oct. 4, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Notably, out of the 32 No. 1 titles on Latin Airplay in 2020, 15 were credited to just one act, while the other 17 were billed to multiple artists, and, of the 15 No. 1s by just one act, 14 were by men or all-male groups.

Elsewhere on the charts, “Ay, Dios Mío!” also arrives at the summit on both Latin Rhythm Airplay and Latin Pop Airplay, Karol G’s eighth and fourth leader, respectively.

Gains at the Latin Airplay sector help push “Ay, Dios Mío!” upward on Hot Latin Songs, which combines airplay, streaming data and digital sales. The track lifts 7-5 and takes the Greatest Gainer/ Airplay honor.

“Ay, Dios Mío!,” meanwhile makes its first appearance on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart, arriving at No, 94.

J Balvin’s Collaboration with Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny & Tainy, “Un Día (One Day),” Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart

It’s a perfect Day for J Balvin

The 35-year-old Colombian reggaeton singer’s bilingual collaboration with Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny and Tainy, “Un Día (One Day),” surges to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs survey dated August 8.

J Balvin

The track, released July 24, dethrones another bilingual collaboration, ending the Black Eyed Peas, Ozuna and J.Rey Soul’s three-week reign with “Mamacita.”

“I’m so thankful and blessed for the early reaction to ‘Un Día’ and its arrival on the charts,” said J Balvin. “It’s one we’ve been talking about for a while now, so I’m happy it’s out in the world for everyone to enjoy. Much Love to Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny, and Tainy for being a part of this special moment with me. Stay tuned for more fire coming soon!”

“Un Día” is Dua Lipa’s first Hot Latin Songs entry and first No. 1 on any Billboard Latin chart. Her foray into the Latin charts began in January 2018 as all-English language track “New Rules” opened at No. 40 on the Latin Pop Airplay list.

The new song isn’t available on her current album Future Nostalgia, which arrived at No. 4 on the overall Billboard 200 chart (April 11-dated tally).

“Un Día” was produced by Tainy and arrived with a music video directed by Colombian Stillz, which features Spanish actress Úrsula Corberó (Netflix’s Money Heist).

The song’s coronation on Hot Latin Songs, which blends airplay, streams and digital sales, is mainly attributed to streaming activity and airplay. It earned 10 million U.S. clicks in the week ending July 30, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, which yields a No. 1 debut on the Latin Streaming Songs list and a No. 45 arrival on the overall Streaming Songs chart.

“Un Día” concurrently opens at No. 1 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart and at No. 49 on the overall Digital Song Sales chart supported by its 4,000 downloads logged in its first tracking week.

J Balvin, meanwhile, posts an eighth No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs. “Un Día,” however, earns him his first No. 1 debut.

With the song’s arrival atop the list, J Balvin places three songs in the top 10: “Ritmo (Bad Boys For Life),” with Black Eyed Peas at No. 3 and “Agua,” with Tainy which rises 11-7. The latter is featured on The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run soundtrack.

“Un Día” is just the second song to arrive at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs in 2020. It follows Bad Bunny’s “Si Veo a Tu Mamá” (March 14-dated survey). While he secures his sixth No. 1, producer and songwriter Tainy claims his first.

Beyond its Hot Latin Songs chart-topping arrival, “Un Día” bows at No. 24 on Latin Airplay, No. 13 on Latin Rhythm Airplay and No. 17 on Latin Pop Airplay.
