Selena Gomez may be rare-in’ to the top of the charts…
The 27-year-old Mexican American singer/actress’ new studio album Rare is aiming for a possible No. 1 debut on next week’s Billboard 200 chart, according to industry forecasters.
Gomez’s latest effort, which was released on January 10 via Interscope Records, may launch atop the tally dated January 25 with between 110,000 to 130,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending January 16.
Rareis Gomez’s first album since 2015’s Revival, which bowed at No. 1 with 117,000 equivalent album units earned in its first week, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
It marked her second leader, following 2013’s Stars Dance.
Rare was led by the songs “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look at Her Now.” The former became her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, vaulting 15-1 on the list dated November 9, 2019. On the current Hot 100, the track sits at No. 10. Meanwhile, on the latest Pop Songs airplay chart, which ranks the most played songs at top 40-formatted radio stations, “Lose You to Love Me” rises 3-2.
Meanwhile, the current No. 1 champ, Roddy Ricch’s Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial, has a chance of holding on to the top slot for a third nonconsecutive week. As of January 14, prognosticators indicate the rapper’s album could tally upwards of 110,000 units — or more. The album is riding high thanks in large part to its single “The Box.”
The Billboard 200chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
The 27-year-old Mexican American singer/actress has released her highly anticipated third solo album, Rare.
The album reflects redemption after a few rough years for Gomez, including lupus troubles, a kidney transplant and relationship drama.
“Honestly, this album was kind of a nightmare to deal with, but in the best way possible,” Gomez recently told Spotifyof the process. “I thought that I was so ready like two years ago…. I had collected all of these sessions, beautiful sessions, that I don’t even remember half of them because it evolved each year.”
“And then something would happen to me and it would be very drastic, so that it would take me somewhere else,” she continued. “And then all of a sudden I found this healing, and I saw something bigger than what I thought that I was. And I think that also added the whole end of the album.”
Rare includes previously released singles “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look At Her Now.”
The iHeartRadio Music Awards nominated have been revealed, with the 22-year-old Mexican/Cuban singer picking up six nods, the most of any Latina/o artist.
Cabello earned nods in the Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Lyrics and Best Music Video categories for “Señorita,” her chart-topping collaboration with Shawn Mendes.
Cabello is also up for Best Fan Army, as well as Best Cover Song for her cover of Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved.”
Cardi B has picked up four nods…
The 27-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar is nominated for Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, as well as Hip-Hop Song of the Year for “Money.”
Cardi B is also nominated for Latin Pop/Urban Song of the Year for her collaboration with DJ Snake, Ozuna and Selena Gomez, “Taki Taki,” as well as Best Remix for appearing on Blueface’s “Thotiana” alongside YG.
Daddy Yankee has picked up four nominations…
The 42-year-old Puerto Rican rapper/singer, a nominee in the Latin Pop/Urban Artist of the Year category,is also up for Best Music Video, Best Remix and Latin Pop/Urban Song of the Year for his hit single“Con Calma.”
Bad Bunny has received three nods…
The 25-year-old Puerto Rican Latin trap and reggaeton singer picked up two nods in the Latin Pop/Urban Song of the Year category, for his single “MIA” featuring Drake, and “Que Pretendes, his collaboration with J Balvin.
Bad Bunny is also up for Latin Pop/Urban Artist of the Year.
J Balvin is also a three-time nominee this year…
The 34-year-old Colombian reggaeton singer is nominated for Latin Pop/Urban Artist of the Year, as well as Latin Pop/Urban Song of the Year for “Que Pretendes” with Bad Bunny, and Best Music Video for “Con Altura” withRosalía and El Guincho.
Spanish singer/songwriter Rosalia, 26, is also nominated for Best New Latin Pop/Urban Artist. She’s nominated alongside Camilo, Guaynaa, Lunayand Sech.

The iHeartRadio Music Awards recognize the most-played names and songs throughout iHeartRadio‘s stations and apps.
Other multiple nominees include Ozuna, Calibre 50, El Fantasmaand Christian Nodal.
Fans will have the opportunity to vote for several categories, including best fan army, best lyrics, best cover song, best music video, best remix, the social star award, favorite tour photographer and the first-ever favorite music video choreography award.

The 27-year-old Mexican American singer/actress is preparing to release her eagerly anticipated third studio album, Rare, later this week.
But she’s celebrating the album with her fans one night before.
Gomez announced on Sunday night that Selenators can gather around their devices on Thursday night (January 9) for an iHeartRadioalbum release party special.
“I can’t wait to share this special moment with you only on @livexlive!” she tweeted.
The album, officially due out on Friday (January 10), will get an early preview during the Los Angeles Livestream special honoring the follow-up to Gomez’s 2015 album Revival.
In addition to an “intimate look into the details” of the album, special will also feature an exclusive Q&A with KIIS FM‘s JoJo Wright.
“It’s the most honest music I’ve ever made and I can’t wait for you to hear my heart,” Gomez tweeted last month along with a grainy video featuring snippets of the videos for the singles released from the album so far, including “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look At Her Now,” as well as first listens to the bouncy title track, the slinky “Cut You Off” and “A Sweeter Place,” which features Kid Cudi.
Fans can listen and tune into the special for free at 10:00 pm ET/ 7:00 pm PT here through the LiveXLivemobile and OTT apps for iOS, Android, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung TV and Apple TV. The 27-year-old Mexican American singer/actress’ chart-topping single “Lose You to Love Me” saw a big sales spike after Gomez performed the track at the American Music Awards.
The single, Gomez’s first-ever chart-topper, saw sales of 8,000 following her perforamnce; up 55% versus 5,000, according to initial reports by Nielsen Music.
Collectively, the songs performed on the November ABC television broadcast garnered a 108% gain in sales of digital downloads on November 24-26, as compared to the three days prior to the show (November 21-23). In total, the performed songs sold 84,000 on November 24-26 versus 40,000 on November 21-23.In addition to Gomez, notable gainers included Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s “Señorita” (5,000; up 79% versus 3,000), Post Malone’s “Take What You Want,” featuring Ozzy Osbourne and Travis Scott (10,000 sold on November 24-26; up 220% as compared to 3,000 sold November 21-23) and Taylor Swift’s “Lover” (10,000; up 69% versus 6,000.
Selena Gomezis starting the New Year with new music…
The 27-year-old Mexican American singer/actress is set to release her highly anticipated next album on January 10 via Interscope Records.
Gomez announced the news this week, declaring on her social media accounts, “This album is my diary from the past few years and I can’t wait for you to hear it.”
Although the album’s title, artwork and track list have yet to be revealed, the album will consist of 13 tracks.
The Apple Musicpre-order page reveals there will be a total of 13 tracks, which includes her career-first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Lose You to Love Me” and the follow-up banger “Look at Her Now.”
Both pages also show a black-and-white collage of the Gomez’s pictures over the years as the fill-in artwork. She posted the same montage of photos to the tune of “Look at Her Now” on her social media on Wednesday with the caption, “Something exciting is coming tomorrow!”

The song was released Wednesday, October 23and is expected to be the first tasteof Gomez’s upcoming album, her first since Revivalin 2015.

Gomez achieves her first Hot 100 No. 1 after previously peaking as high as No. 5 with both “Good For You,” featuring A$AP Rocky, in 2015 and “Same Old Love” in 2016. It’s her eighth top 10 and first since “It Ain’t Me,” with Kygo, reached No. 10 in May 2017.
With Gomez having first appeared on the Hot 100 dated January 10, 2009 (at No. 99 with the eventual No. 58-peaking “Tell Me Something I Don’t Know“), she reaches No. 1 at last, 10 years and 10 months after her first entry. She completes the longest wait from a first visit to a first No. 1 (as a lead artist) since Daddy Yankee, who took 12 years and nine months from his first charted title to his first leader, “Despacito,” with Luis Fonsi and featuring Justin Bieber, in May 2017.
Among women, Gomez ends the longest wait for a first Hot 100 No. 1 in over 30 years, since pop icon Bette Midlerneeded 16 years, six months and two weeks from her first appearance in 1972 to her first No. 1, “Wind Beneath My Wings,” in June 1989.
The 27-year-old Mexican American singer/actress is set to perform at the 2019 American Music Awards for the television premiere of her new music, according to dick clark productions and ABC.
The performance marks Gomez’s first live television gig in two years, but she’s no stranger to the AMAstage. She previously performed in 2014, 2015 and in 2017.
The announcement comes following the release of Gomez’s two singles, “Lose You To Love Me” and “Look At Her Now.”
Her upcoming album will follow Gomez’s 2016 record, Revival.

The 27-year-old Mexican American singer/actress is sharing behind-the-scenes video on Instagram of her dazzling looks in her “Look at Her Now” music video.
The surprise video drop last Thursday had meticulous planning behind it, and her backup dancers were thrilled to be a part of the club-ready anthem.
“She even talked to us about how special this moment was for her and what it meant, and I just think it’s really cool that she shared that part of herself,” one dancer said about Gomez’s constant and genuine interaction with her crew. “Most artists just do their own thing and go through it by themselves, but she would be in the space with us. … It feels like a girl gang that was meant to be.”
Gomez dedicated the track to her “ride-or-dies” and opened up about her catharsis during a SiriusXM Hits 1radio interview last week, after the song and video were released right after the more somber “Lose You to Love Me” ballad.
“Basically the whole song is … telling a story,” she said about “Look at Her Now” during the interview. “And it’s just always about kind of redeeming yourself and making sure that you acknowledge that you kind of mess up and you go through your stuff but you can always come out of it just feeling like a boss.”
