Kate del Castillo to Star on the Third Season of Fox’s “The Cleaning Lady”

Kate del Castillo is cleaning up her resume…

The 51-year-old Mexican actress and former telenovela star and 45-year-old Chilean actor Santiago Cabrera will play siblings Ramona and Jorge Sanchez in series regular roles on the third season of Fox’s The Cleaning Lady.

Kate del Castillodel Castillo’s character is described as the elegant, beautiful and regal matriarch of the Sanchez family who has the grace and quiet wisdom that belies a ruthless cunning below the surface. To the world, she’s a benevolent philanthropist, art collector and loving aunt to a young child, but behind closed doors, she’s shrewd, powerful and fiercely protective of her family, her business and her many dark secrets.

Her brother, portrayed by Cabrera, is intelligent and intuitive with a deep inner strength. He was born in Mexico but raised in the U.S. with all the privileges that newfound wealth has brought to his family. A Harvard Law grad, Jorge has been working as a successful businessman using legitimate business fronts to launder money and serve as a fixer in his family’s organization. Struggling with his wife’s untimely death, he cycles through stages of grief and an insatiable rage at the world, often making him volatile and unpredictable. The only joy left in his life is his daughter, Violeta, whom he strives to protect above all else.

Based on the hit original Argentine series, The Cleaning Lady follows Thony De La Rosa (Élodie Yung), a whip-smart Cambodian doctor who comes to the U.S. for a medical treatment to save her ailing son, but when the system fails and attempts to push her down, Thony refuses to be marginalized, and instead takes matters into her own hands. Forced to use unconventional measures to protect her family and save the ones she loves; Thony further crosses the moral line as she gets deeper entwined in the criminal underbelly of Las Vegas.

The series also stars Adan Canto, Martha Millan, Sebastien & Valentino LaSalle, Sean Lew, Faith Bryant and Eva De Dominic.

Miranda Kwok developed the series. Kwok and Jeannine Renshaw serve as showrunners and executive producers of season three.

Rose Marie Vega and Paola Suarez also are executive producers. Shay Mitchell and David Dean Portelli are executive consultants.

del Castillo’s previous credits include the career-defining hit telenovela La Reina del Sur, Ingobernable and Dallas.

Cabrera’s previous credits include The Flight Attendant, Star Trek: Picard and Merlin..

AQUIHAYAQUIHAY Signs with Steve Aoki’s New Latinx-Focused Imprint Dim Mak En Fuego

Things may never be the same for AQUIHAYAQUIHAY

The Mexican anti-boy band has signed with Steve Aoki’s new Latinx-focused imprint Dim Mak En Fuego and launches its first single, “Ya No Es Igual.”

AQUIHAYAQUIHAY

The multi-faceted producer, who has collaborated with a slew of Latin artists — including Daddy Yankee, Maluma and Maná– launched the label to help nurture and develop Latinx artists “driven from the underground scene,” according to Aoki. The move was born from the bond he’s had with his global Latin fanbase.

“We’ve been planning this for quite some time now. These things take time to build and it all started when I started doing more of the Latin collaborations — it was then that I started planting the seeds,” Aoki tells Billboard. “I’ve gotten so much support from my Latin fanbase and I’ve built a bond with them and its culture. Their acceptance has not only helped me collaborate with Latin artists, but it’s also now allowed me to be part of the development and nurturing of Latin artists too.”

Aoki launched his own record label, Dim Mak, 24 years ago.

Dedicated to releasing hybrid sounds from the global underground alongside contemporary hitmakers, Dim Mak En Fuego’s team includes Bryan Linares (head of marketing) and Christian Herrerra (co-founder of Gasolina Party). Distribution partners include Merlin, A2IM and FUGA.

Their first and only signed artist (so far) is Mexican self-described anti-boy band AQUIHAYAQUIHAY, who launch the label with the release of their pop-tinged R&B track “Ya No Es Igual.”

“The idea of launching with AQUIHAYAQUIHAY really cements where we want Dim Mak En Fuego to land,” says Linares. “We could’ve come out with a straight reggaeton record but coming out with them feels very authentic to us because we come from the underground.”

“They are amazing young kids who are doing something different,” says Aoki of the group. “When we heard the music and saw what they’re doing and their drive I thought, ‘that’s it.’ This is the kind of feeling we need when we sign an artist. I’m excited about watching what they can do.”

Rivera to Receive “Woman of Valor Award” from Victory Dance Project

It’s a special Victory for Chita Rivera

The 84-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress, dancer and singer will be honored by the New York-based Victory Dance Project at its third anniversary celebration.

Chita Rivera

Rivera, a Broadway legend, will be presented with the company’s Woman of Valor Award at the celebration at the Manhattan Movement & Arts Center on June 15.

The award honors “a woman whose artistic excellence, advocacy, and legacy represents the highest level of integrity and artistic vision.”

The event, themed From This Movement On, will also include a world premiere piece choreographed by the company’s artistic director Amy Jordan, as well as pieces from the company’s repertoire.

Jordan and Rivera share a similar experience. Victory Dance Project was founded in 2014 by Jordan after she survived a bus accident that nearly claimed her life. She says she resolved that if she survived, she would do a “victory dance” to celebrate, and launched VDP Project with the mission to “Make the Impossible Possible with the Power of Movement.”

Rivera survived a 1986 Manhattan car accident that shattered her left leg. After therapy, she returned to the stage, winning the 1993 Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her performance in Kiss of the Spider-Woman. She had previously won a Tony for her performance in The Rink.

Her additional credits include the original Broadway productions of Guys and Dolls, West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie, Can-Can, Chicago, Merlin, The Visit and her autobiographical musical, Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life.

“We are thrilled to be honoring the amazing Chita Rivera with Victory Dance Project’s Woman of Valor Award. I can’t think of a more apt recipient—Her incredible talent, spirit and strength inspire us on so many levels—she is truly a woman of valor,” said Jordan in an interview with Playbill.
