HBO Max to Premiere Second Season of “The Flight Attendant,” Featuring Rosie Perez, in April

Rosie Perez is taking flight again…

HBO Max will premiere the second season of The Flight Attendant, featuring the 57-year-old Puerto Rican actress and activist, on April 21 with two episodes.

The eight-episode season continues with two new episodes on April 28, followed by one episode weekly, concluding May 26.

In Season 2, Cassie Bowden (Kaley Cuoco) returns with a fresh start in Los Angeles. She’s sober and moonlighting as a CIA asset in her spare time. But when an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international intrigue.

The season filmed in Los Angeles, Berlin and Reykjavik.

Returning series regulars also include Perez, Zosia Mamet, Griffin Matthews and Deniz Akdeniz. T.R. Knight, Yasha Jackson, and Audrey Grace Marshall are returning recurring guest stars.

The season also stars new series regulars Mo McRae, Callie Hernandez, and JJ Soria, as well as new recurring guest stars Alanna Ubach, Cheryl Hines, Jessie Ennis, Mae Martin, Margaret Cho, Santiago Cabrera, Sharon Stone and Shohreh Aghdashloo.

The Flight Attendant is developed by showrunner Steve Yockey, who serves as executive producer alongside co-showrunner and executive producer Natalie Chaidez. Greg Berlanti, Cuoco, Sarah Schechter, David Madden, Suzanne McCormack, and Silver Tree are executive producers. Jess Meyer is co-executive producer and Bonnie Munoz is producer.

The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television, Cuoco’s Yes, Norman Productions, and Berlanti Productions. Season one was based on the novel of the same name by New York Times bestselling author Chris Bohjalian.

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican and Mexican American actress will appear on Season 2 of HBO Max’s critically acclaimed series The Flight Attendant as a recurring guest star.

The Max Original, based on Chris Bohjalian’s 2018 novel of the same name, centers on Cassie Bowden (Cuoco), a reckless flight attendant with an alcohol problem who in Season 1, wakes up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a dead man—and no idea what happened.

Season 2 finds Cassie living her best sober life in Los Angeles while moonlighting as a CIA asset in her spare time. But when an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international brouhaha.

Ubach will play Carol Atkinson, also known as Black Market Carol, a perfectly groomed, icy flight attendant who is not a fan of Cassie.

Ubach is best known for her work in the Legally Blonde films, along with her turn as Mamá Imelda in Disney/Pixar’s Coco, and as Jo Hernandez-Frumpkis in the Bravo series Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.

She recurs opposite Kate Beckinsale on the Paramount+ series Guilty Party, and will return for the sophomore seasons of Disney+’s Monsters at Work, HBO’s Euphoria, and Hulu’s Crossing Swords.

The actress has also appeared in Netflix’s Maya and the Three, Fox’s Filthy Rich, FX’s Snowfall, AMC’s Dietland, Amazon’s Hand of God, Showtime’s Californication and HBO’s Hung, among others.

Additional film credits include BombshellGloria Bell, To the Bone, Bad TeacherRango, Waiting and its sequel Still Waiting and Clockwatchers.

The 40-year-old Mexican American actor and Gentefied star has joined the cast of HBO Max’s Emmy-nominated series The Flight Attendant.

Meanwhile, Cheryl HinesMae Martin and Margaret Cho join as recurring characters.

This past Emmys season, The Flight Attendant scored eight nominations and one honor for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music.

Hernandez will play Gabrielle Diaz, a quick-tempered and calculating bounty hunter whose impulse control issues often get in the way of her job.

Soria joins the cast as Esteban Diaz, Gabrielle’s partner and lover who tries to keep a level head and stay focused on the job, but often gets just as heated as his girlfriend.

Cabrera will join the cast as Marco.

Luna Lauren Vélez to Star in the Latest Installment of “The Purge” Film Series

The 52-year-old Puerto Rican actress has been cast in the fourth installment of The Purge film series from Blumhouse Productions, Universal Pictures and Platinum Dunes.

Velez, best known for her role as María LaGuerta on Showtime‘s Dexter, joins a cast that includes Mo McRae, Joivan Wade, Steve Harris, Patch Darragh and Mugga.

The group joins previously announced Y’lan Noel and Lex Scott Davis for The Purge 4, which Burning Sands director Gerard McMurray is directing from a script by franchise creator James DeMonaco, who wrote and directed the previous three films.

This chapter will serve as a prequel, focusing on the events that lead up to the inaugural Purge event where, for a 12-hour period, all crime is legal.

DeMonaco is producing with Jason Blum, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form and Sébastien K. Lemercier. The film hits theaters July 4.

Henao to Star in Confluential Films’ “Destined”

Zulay Henao is destined for a new role…

The 35-year-old Colombian actress has been cast in Confluential Films’ Destined.

From director Qasim “Q” Basir, the film tracks the split destinies of young Rasheed Smith, who is tempted into the drug game and follows two divergent life paths: In one, he goes to prison and emerges the head of a criminal empire; in the other, he graduates from college only to wrestle with decisions as a climber at an architectural firm.

In addition to Henao, who recently starred in The Single Moms Club, the film also stars Jesse Metcalfe, Margot Bingham, Rob Riley, Jason Dohring, Mo McRae, Hill Harper and Lala Anthony. 

Henao’s other credits include White Space, Hostel: Part III and Havana Heat.

Filming is underway in Detroit.
