Sanchez to Executive Produce English-Language Version of Her Hit Series “Familia En Venta”

Roselyn Sanchez is looking to bring her familia to English-speaking audiences.

The 42-year-old Puerto Rican actress/singer and Devious Maids star and her actor-husband Eric Winter have teamed to executive produce Familia En Venta, a single-camera half-hour comedy for Fox based on Fox International Channel’s 2014 Colombian series, which starred Sanchez.

Familia En Venta explores conscious uncoupling and marriage through the lens of the divorce of an affluent Hispanic family.

Aaron Serna (Cristela) will write the adaptation, with Ian Gurvitz (The Exes) supervising and serving as showrunner.

The original series, toplined by  Sanchez and Mexican actor-comedian Carlos Espejel, recently was nominated for an International Emmy Award for best comedy series. It aired on MundoFox in the U.S.

Following the show’s successful run in South America, Sanchez and Winter approached Fox International Channels about mounting an English-language version in the U.S.

The duo teamed with Brillstein Entertainment Partners, whose head of television Robyn Schwartz will executive produce Familia En Venta with them.

There are no plans for Sanchez to reprise her role as she stars in Lifetime’s Devious Maids, recently renewed for a fourth season.

Coronel Named Newcomer of the Year at the Premios Los Angeles

There’s no denying including Luis Coronel is a rising star in Latin music… And, now he has the goods to prove it.

The 18-year-old singer Mexican American singer was crowned the newcomer of the year at the inaugural Premios Los Angeles, which awarded trophies to some of the most trending musical acts in Mexican music.

“I want to thank all of the L.A. fans,” Coronel said, as he picked up his trophy during the pre-taped ceremony. “You’ve never failed me. I live through you.”

Coronel has posted a number of his singles on the iTunes and Billboard charts, including “Mi Niña Traviesa,” “Será Mas Fácil,” and “Escápate.” He released his debut album, Con la Frente en Alto, in September 2013. The album reached the top spot on Billboard‘s Regional Mexican Albums chart within three weeks of its release.

The Premios Los Angeles, which opened with a performance by the Grammy-winning band La Santa Cecilia during the live taping, was hosted by singer/songwriter Aleks Syntek. The program will air June 1 on MundoFox.

The awards, which included an online voting system available to fans, included 10 other winners including Spanish Latin singer Enrique Bunbury for best pop/rock album, Regulo Caro for best regional Mexican artist, La Arrolladora Banda El Limon for best banda artist and El Trono de Mexico for best artist tierra caliente.

Alex Rivera took home the prize for composer of the year, Buknas de Culiacan won for best altered movement artist, Amantes de Sinaloa took home the prize for best Los Angeles underground artist, Eddie Sotelo “El Piolin” won for radio announcer of the year and Elisabeth Espinoza took home the prize for crossover TV personality.

The program, which was taped at the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, included performances and tributes to boxing champ Julio Cesar Chavez, L.A. politician Gil Cedillo, radio pioneer Pepe Garza and veteran regional Mexican singer Ramon Ayala.

“We are proud to have created a platform that spotlights and rewards the impressive work that our Latino artists are contributing to the world,” said Humberto Valencia, president of HUMA Productions and creator of the event. “We look forward to continuing to recognize talented Latino artists and leaders through ‘Premios Los Angeles’ in the years to come.”

The awards show will air on MundoFox and Ocho TV on June 1 at 7 p.m. (PT). The program is also scheduled to air in Mexico.

Montilla Signs with The Gersh Agency

Pili Montilla has new representation in Hollywood…

The Latina television host/producer and actress has signed with has inked with The Gersh Agency.

Montilla is a former MTV veejay who has worked as an entertainment reporter and producer for outlets including Fusion, MTV, E! Latino and MundoFox.

She also created, produces and hosts the music show Té Para Tres con Pili Montilla, which is also covered as part of her deal with Gersh.

Montilla’s acting credits include the comedy 200 Cartas, which co-stars Jaime Camil, Dayanara Torres and Lin Manuel Miranda.

Longoria Among This Year’s Hispanic Heritage Awards Honorees

She’s one of the Latino community’s biggest advocates… And, now Eva Longoria is being recognized for her efforts.

The 38-year-old Mexican American actress, who recently received a special award from the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), has been named a Hispanic Heritage Awards honoree.

The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) recently announced this year’s eight honorees, with the former Desperate Housewives star at the top of the list.

The Hispanic Heritage Awards celebrate Hispanic cultural pride, contributions, and accomplishments,

Longoria will receive the Community Service Award, for her endless list of charitable and political efforts within the Latino community.

The awards presentation will be broadcast on MundoFox on Sunday, September 15, at 6:00 pm EST.

MundoFox to Produce “El Factor X”

MundoFox has announced plans to produce El Factor X, an original Spanish-language version of Fox’s singing competition The X Factor.

Román Starring in MundoFox’s “Los Tres Caínes”

Julián Román will soon be bringing Colombian history to life on television…

The 35-year-old Colombian actor will be starring in MundoFox’s new series Los Tres Caínes, the true story of the Castaño brothers, who forever altered the history of Colombia with their search for vengeance and justice.

Román will portray Carlos Castaño, aka “El Comamdante,” in the new primetime series. His co-stars include Elkin Diaz as Vicente Castaño, aka “El Profe” and Gregorio Pernia as Fidel Castaño,aka “El Rambo.”

Fidel, Carlos and Vicente Castaño pledge to avenge the kidnapping and murder of their father by Colombia’s guerrilla. Thirsting for vengeance, the three brothers decide to take justice into their own hands and build the largest private army in history, partly financed by drug traffickers including Pablo Escobar. Blinded by anger and pain, they start a deadly war— a war that touches an entire nation and ultimately destroys the family they vowed to protect.

Los 3 Caínes will launch simultaneously in the United States and Colombia on Tuesday, March 5. It will air on MundoFox Monday through Friday at 9:00 pm ET.

Puerta Starring in “La Mariposa” Telenovela

Maria Adelaida Puerta will soon find herself on the wrong side of the law…

The 30-year-old Colombian actress – who captivated audiences with her role as La Perrys in the action series El Capo – is set to return to television as a sophisticated drug trafficker who falls in love with a U.S. agent in a new telenovela.

La Mariposa is a series about money laundering and at the same time a love story that takes place under some rather odd circumstances,” Puerta recently told Efe.

Alicia Benitez, better known as The Butterfly, “is a socialite who had the chance to study outside of Colombia,” the actress explained. “She’s a very intelligent woman who, because of her ambitious nature, decided to get into money laundering, thinking that it would be easy and that everything is a game.”

La Mariposa: Amores que Matan is a telenovela in 60 episodes produced by Fox Telecolombia for RCN television and filmed in Colombia, Mexico and Miami.

After airing for Colombian viewers beginning December 4, it will be transmitted to an audience in the United States over the MundoFox network.

“Each character is a universe so different from the actor who plays it and is also different from all the other characters in the novela, so it’s quite a challenge to play them,” said Puerto.
