Jon Seda to Star in NBC’s Drama Pilot “La Brea”

Jon Seda is making a return to NBC…

The 49-year-old Puerto Rican actor, who starred on NBC’s Chicago Fire and recurred on Chicago P.D. for several seasons, has landed a lead role opposite Natalie Zea and Michael Raymond-James in the high-concept drama pilot La Brea.

Hailing from writer David AppelbaumKeshet Studiosand Universal Television, the project begins with a massive sinkhole that mysteriously opens in Los Angeles. It tears a family in half, separating mother (Zea) and son from father (Raymond-James) and daughter (Zyra Gorecki). When part of the family find themselves in an unexplainable primeval world alongside a disparate group of strangers, they must work to survive and uncover the mystery of where they are and if there is a way back home.

Seda will play Dr. Benjamine Glass, a former Navy Sealwho knows how to take charge.

Thor Freudenthalwill direct the pilot.

Last spring, Seda departed the Chicago franchise after seven years on Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Justice. As his Chicago character had developed a devoted following, his exit was met with strong reaction by fans, and NBC has been looking for ways to bring him back into the fold.

Seda starred as Detective Antonio Dawson Chicago P.D. One of the original stars of the Chicago franchise, he started off as a recurring on the mothership Chicago Fire before he was spun off to Chicago P.D. He also appeared for a time on the short-lived legal drama spinoff Chicago Justice.

Prior to joining the Chicago franchise, Seda played Nelson Hidalgo on TremeHis other credits include appearances on Hawaii Five-0The Closerand Burn Notice.

TBS to Premiere Second Season of Pineda’s “The Detour” in February

TBS has scheduled the Season 2 premiere of its hit comedy series The Detour, featuring the 29-year-old Latina actress, for Monday, February 21 at 10:00 pm ET.

Season 2 picks up with Nate (Jones) receiving a promising job opportunity and the family moving to New York City for a fresh start. Everyone is excited except for Robin (Zea), who knows that a move to the big city means her mysterious past may catch up with her. While Nate and Robin adjust to new jobs, new neighbors and old flames, Jared (Carroll) and Delilah (Gerasimovich) dive headfirst into the awkwardness of adolescence.

Season 2 also will feature several special guests, including series executive producer and co-creator Bee, as well as James Cromwell, John Oliver, Laura Benanti, Jeffrey Vincent Parise and Max Casella.

The second season of The Detour is executive-produced by Jones, Bee, Brennan Shroff and Tony Hernandez.

Pineda’s previous credits include The Originals, Homeland, Men of a Certain Age and American Odyssey.

The 28-year-old Mexican American actress has been cast as a series regular in TBS comedy, The Detour.

Created by Jason Jones and Samantha Beethe series is inspired by Jones and Bee’s own experiences with family getaways.

It follows a couple and their two young kids as they take a road trip to Florida. Jones plays unfiltered dad Nate, who packs his wife, Robin (Natalie Zea), along with their rebellious daughter Delilah (Ashley Gerasimovich) and simpleton son Jared (Liam Carroll), into the family car for what Nate is convinced will be the adventure of a lifetime. Every leg of their trip, however, is fraught with unforeseen disaster as they encounter one hellish turn after another.

Pineda, who starred in The Originals and American Odyssey, will play Vanessa, Robin’s obliviously distasteful sister.

Pineda’s other television credits include Men of a Certain Age and Homeland.
