Carmelo Anthony Launches Content Company ‘Creative7’

The 36-year-old half-Puerto Rican professional baseball player, a 10-time NBA All-Star, and his longtime business partner Asani Swann have launched Creative7, a multi-platform content company that will develop and produce original, premium content spanning documentaries, scripted television, feature film, animation, podcasts, and more.Carmelo AnthonyAnthony and Swann’s goal? To champion the narratives and voices of the underserved and they are partnering with Will Packer, Plan B Entertainment on a limited narrative series, Hock Films, Shaun Redick and Yvette Yates on Jersey 4, based on a racial profiling case, and more.

The company has quietly produced and is currently producing a number of previously-announced projects as well, including Blood Brothers, a limited series in partnership with A+E Studios, Executive Producer Charles Murray, and Narrative Film Group that examines the friendship between two of the most dynamic and iconic figures in history: Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X; “Un Sueño Real”, a recently launched docuseries with HBO España, Exile Content Studio, and Newtral that gives an inside look at the women’s Real Madrid soccer team; and Universe, an IDA Award-winning documentary about Miles Davis’ protégé, Wallace Roney, who recently passed but lives on through his inspiring journey to uphold his mentor’s legacy and record The Universe Compositions.

“In addition to collaborating with legendary filmmakers and paramount creative minds in the industry, we are excited to also be working with and championing emerging talent who are positioned to be the next great generation of filmmakers,” said Swann. “At the core, our goal is to amplify unheard voices and groundbreaking stories that push the envelope and will leave a profound impact. Andy Garcia has landed the father of all roles…

The 64-year-old Cuban actor will star in Warner Bros. and Plan B’s reboot of Father of the Bride.

Gaz Alazraki has been set to helm the studio’s new reboot, which will revolve around a Latinx family, with Matt Lopez penning the script.

The film will tell the story of a father coming to grips with his daughter’s upcoming wedding through the prism of multiple relationships within a big, sprawling Cuban-American family. It will be more of a rom-com than previous versions of film. While this will mark the third iteration of the story, sources say this will be more in the vein of the original Spencer Tracy pic and not the Steve Martin franchise from the 1990s.

“I’m very excited to join The Father of the Bride, a beloved film that has brought so much joy to so many over the years and to represent my Cuban culture and heritage in this story,” Garcia said. “I commend Warner Bros. for their foresight and celebrate this opportunity they have created. I am looking forward to my collaboration with our talented director Gaz Alazraki and producers Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner from Plan B. “

The veteran actor best known for roles in the Ocean Eleven franchise and The Godfather Part III, Garcia can be seen next opposite Katey Sagal in the highly anticipated ABC drama Rebel.

Gaz Alazraki is taking on the father of a project…

The 38-year-old Mexican filmmaker, the writer and director of Mexico’s record breaking comedy Nosotros los Nobles, will helm Warner Bros. new take on the classic story Father of the Bride.

This latest take on the film will center around a Latinx family, with Matt Lopez penning the script.

Dede Garner and Jeremy Kleiner will produce for Plan B Entertainment.

Alazraki has quickly become a rising star in the directing ranks and one of the most prominent filmmakers coming out of Mexico. He wrote and directed Nosotros Los Nobles, which was distributed by Warners International.

He created, wrote and directed Club de Cuervos, Netflix’s first international original series, which has become one of the biggest international series in the streamer’s history.

Alazraki is currently directing the pilot for Apple’s Acapulco.

Isabel Arraiza to Star in Amazon’s New Series “Outer Range”

Isabel Arraiza is finding her range…

The Puerto Rican actress will star opposite Josh Brolin and Imogen Poots in the Amazon series Outer Range.

Arraiza joins a list of cast newcomers that includes Lewis Pullman, Noah Reid and Shaun Sipos and Isabel Arraiza.

Pullman, Reid, Sipos, and Arraiza round out the cast of series regulars, alongside previously announced lead actors Lili Taylor, Tamara Podemski and Tom Pelphrey.

Outer Range centers on Royal Abbott (Brolin), a rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming’s wilderness.

Pullman is set to take on the role of Rhett Abbott, the family’s younger, more rebellious son. He never thought much past his ambition to become a championship bull rider — until a shocking event, and a girl just returned to town, push him to reconsider everything he thought he knew.

Reid will portray Billy Tillerson, the youngest of the three Tillerson brothers. Ethereal and unsettling, Billy sings often, his heart pouring over, like an inner tide of something he can’t hold back.

Sipos will take on the role of Luke Tillerson. Archrival to the neighboring Abbotts, Luke runs the day-to-day business of his family’s sprawling ranching operation. His ruthless competitive streak turns vengeful and toxic when there is a sudden turn of events for his family.

Arraiza is set to play Maria Olivares. Maria went to high school with Rhett. Now she’s back from college, unexpectedly, and looking for more than just a fresh start.

Outer Range comes from creator and executive producer Brian Watkins, with executive producers Zev Borow, Heather Rae, and Plan B Entertainment for Amazon Studios. The series falls under Amazon Studios’ overall deal with Plan B Entertainment.

Arraiza’s previous credits include Prodigal Son, The Little Things and Pearson.
